HI,
I started with Java as my first programming language, because you dont have to care about memory and memory leaks (Garbage Collector) and about different PC types and OSes. And there are great IDEs (like eclipse) which help you to organize and write your code. You can write Mobile applications for Android, for the Web (although I cant recommened this, because of security issues and the lost support of some Browsers), the PC with Windows or Linux and Mac. There are many librarys in the Internet which are free to use. A good starting point would be this website with a ton of free online books (https://github.com/vhf/free-programming-books/blob/master/free-programming-books.md#java). And if you want to use eclipse you can look at http://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse/Installation on how to install it.

You could also start with Python or lua which is also a relatively simple language to start with, but as far as I know there arent good IDEs out there.
