Ideally I'd like to be able to do it on my own without having to hire someone else (or inhaling helium) - what's a good method for de-ageifying my voice?
I'm using Audacity.

The most common way of animating a character full motion is to have separate layers for body, arms, legs, hands etc. but hand-drawing everything fbf does make the whole thing hold together better for certain styles, there's no right or wrong way of doing it.
Yeah, wasn't quite sure how to put it concisely.. sorry about that. By this point, the project's well under way, and I've developed a method that's working pretty well. I'll upload some screenshots - maybe they can help others out.
To reiterate, my issue was that I was having trouble figuring out the best way to use layers in order to make the process of digital animation more efficient. Then I came up with a method.
Basically, instead of separating all of the body parts into their own layers like many have been suggesting, I divided things into three separate layers, based on what actions are (or aren't) taking place on those levels.
Here's an imgur link, since Newgrounds won't let me upload large pictures.

Hello,
I currently have about fifty frames that were traditionally animated, each frame being its own full-body drawing. I am in the process of turning this into a digital animation (with color and shading), and I am using the same, one-frame-one-drawing technique that I would use with traditional methods. Although this works, it is obviously very time-consuming, and I feel like I am not using my digital program to its fullest potential by using such a method. I feel that by using layers, I could find a way to animate more quickly, but whenever I go to create my different layers, I wind up at a loss for how I want to go about it because I don't know what "works". I was hoping to get some help on this matter.
In studying various cartoons, I've seen that the most common practice is to separate the head from the rest of the body and, subsequently, the face from the head, possibly with the jaw line as well. I have also heard others suggest to put every single limb on a different layer. While this makes sense on its own, my confusion comes from the fact that, when animating, a character would probably quite often have different limbs and parts pass over one another, and if one limb is definitively above another limb, then it seems like it would be impossible to properly animate your character. Not to mention that if the character changes their angle, turns around, etc., then your layer arrangement would be "improper" (am I making sense? I'm having trouble finding a way to put this into words).
Basically, I would like some suggestions on how to design my layers for a more efficient animation method. Although the traditional method works for digital animation, I feel like I am doing myself a disservice by not learning a more effective method given the powerful tool I am using.
Thank you for your help.
I can finally realize my dream of wiping my ass with Pico's face.
Well.. I can't say I saw or played the game, but I will say that, as much of a monster as it makes me sound, I think it should have been left up. Yes, it probably was offensive as fuck, but if you're going to let one offensive thing stay on here, I think you should let them all stay. Where are we supposed to draw the line? Religious jokes? Porn? No, we have no line, and sometimes really good things come out of that, but sometimes really bad things come. But you take them as they come. I understand your decision Tom, but I don't agree with it.

I have been using Firefox, and I've definitely cleared my cache a few times since last December. I could try IE and see if it works on that.
This has been happening for a very long time (about nine months), and I am a little surprised that it's still going on. Maybe I am alone in having this problem happen, though I doubt it, since it's happened on more than one computer for me.
The first problem comes with the initial submission - whenever I click "submit", I get a blank white page saying that the server has timed out. Usually, however, if I wait a few minutes, my new submission shows up on my page anyway. So that's not as big an issue.
More recently though, whenever I try to edit a submission, if I click "submit", it immediately jumps to a blank white page, and nothing happens. Nothing changes either. I don't know why the submission/editing system for the art portal is so buggy. Has anyone else had this problem?
Can't decide between the Launchpad or the QuNeo...
However, if you're looking for something that adds some more dynamics to your performance, something that plays more like an instrument, I'd recommend the QuNeo. It's a pressure sensitive 64-grid controller with touch sliders and rotators. It also has 251 completely customizable LEDs. If you're playing a lot of your own music and have a lot of time to prepare your sets, mapping to the QuNeo is a great visual experience for your audience, and it's very intuitive to play with. It's really fun!
Very fascinating. It looks like each pad has four corners that can each be mapped, as well as the center of the pad itself, if I'm not mistaken? And "slider" and "dial" pads on the left?

Very interesting. This seems to have a little bit of everything. I think I might go for this one - seems to be right up my alley. Thanks everyone.

Yeah if you can find one thats worth it. Those things have a very high resale since theyre so new so it seems kinda pointless to get one used. Best I found on ebay was a sale for one for 135. Thats only 35 bucks less then brand new and who knows what it woulda been with shipping.
If youre getting this soon, might as well get one new. If you live in the states I can get you a discounted one new with guitar center. Just PM me for details on that.
I found a dude selling one on Craigslist for fifty bucks, though I wonder if he's done his research and there's a reason he's selling for so low...

Not just the normal one, its newer and comes with an FL sticker skin and is plug n play.
Not to mention its just pretty damn good.
Do you think if I get a hand-me-down from eBay it'll work just the same?
Hey folks - after updating to FL studio 11, I was pretty psyched to see the performance mode. While I can use my keyboard for the time being, it'd be nice to have an actual midi controller to use with the program. I've seen a few different common recommendations such as the Novation pad and Livid Block, but I thought it'd be good to ask around and see what people's recommendations are. Doesn't have to have a lot of bells and whistles, but it'd be nice if the grid were a decent size.

Not exaggerating.
I didn't have to wait that long. I don't remember how long I waited, but it couldn't have been more than a week. It seemed to be an automated thing.
I just use a regular ol' Yamaha keyboard, nothing special, and that works fine. Doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it supports velocity, pitch bend and sustain, which is all I really need for the time being.
Wait, you need to be scouted for the audio portal now? I thought that was just the art portal.
I'll say this. I don't think EDM is dead, but I do think it's incredibly diluted. I've always said that it's easy to make EDM, but it's hard to make memorable EDM. Because of the rise of the genre over the past decade and a half, there's been a huge surge in people trying to create the music, either out of general love for the genre or for a slice of the pie. Whatever the case, it's now become a dime-a-dozen genre, which unfortunately means it's going to be tougher to find the gems in the dirt.
Hey everyone! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this thread - thank you all so much for the suggestions! I'll be looking into every one of them to see which one is best.
My favorite is "A Mad Russian's Christmas", by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Feh, don't make me laugh. This site is going nowhere.
Does anyone know of a VST plugin (preferably a free one) that is capable of creating realistic instrumental sounds such as woodwind and brass? I want to try my hand at electro swing, but seeing how I lack the money/talent to buy/play several instruments besides the saxophone, I need something capable of making those sounds. I'm using FL Studio, by the way.
Ah, nevermind.. it seems to be working now.
I don't know if this has anything to do with this, but I haven't been able to upload my picture to the art portal. I keep getting an error message, and I've cleared my cache twice to try and solve the problem. The image itself is uploading, it's just that when I go to submit, it gives me an error. Other people seem to be able to upload, so is it just me?

Well, that's sort of what I'm looking for, but it's only part way. I'm talking if anyone says anything to you, I would want a way to know.
That would be Free Form Jazz.
I imagine this has been brought up before, but I'd like to bring it back to the surface, if I may.
The one thing I don't like about this site is how isolated I feel from other users, even if I have people talking to me and vice versa. The problem is that there's nothing here to tell you if/when someone responds to something you have up. It would be really nice if there were some kind of notification center that you could go to (sort of PM's, but for everything), where it could tell you if someone's written a review, quoted you (so, responded to you) in a forum, etc. without having to go back to each one and check. Does anyone else think this would be a good idea?
Actually, can I add something to this? I browse the art portal much more than I do the Flash portal, and I rate art pieces much more than I do Flash pieces. But you only gain voting power by voting on Flash pieces, and I feel that's rather unfair. I think you should gain separate voting experience based on the portal, or at least have some way to gain voting power for a different portal, rather than just going by how active you are in the Flash portal.
Yes, I have, but never to the extent where I tried carrying it out.
What do you look for when you say something's good? Also, what do you see in something that makes you say it's bad?
