Okey doke. My isp botted me the first time I tried posting this, and my browser crashed on attempt 2. third time works a charm <insert pic I refer to later>

I have the zelda disk. pwn.
but I *think* I found a good store to get all my games from... and it ain't k-mart... not that I am gonna be buying any new games any time soon...

as I told MrChocobo the other day, I hate final fantasy fanboys >: (
I can make an exception for final fantasy fangirls tho...
how come everyone says the final fantasy games I like the most, ie: 3(jap), 5, and 9, are the ones everyone else likes the least? I don't get it... btw, 2 was a big load of suck imho, which by all accounts doesn't count for much seeing as I seem to like specifically the ones everyone else hates... did I mention I hate ff fanboys?

I still like Megadrive/Genesis games, for example; EarthWormJim2 and Sonich the Hedgehog. I can;t really think of too many more, but i liked Final Fantisy 7 and Conkers bad fur day.
you pwn. apart from ff7. it really wasn't that good. I thought 8 was better, although I never got around to playing right thru 8. oh yeah - what I really meant to say is that I HATE FINAL FANTASY. I suppose 7 wasn't really that bad, and sepiroth was deadly kewl (as was vincent for that matter), I just get sick of fanboys going on about it (not that I am saying you're a fan boy - just that saying you like ff7 is somewhat of a cliche).
hey actually, I wanted to respond to some of the other games you mentioned - what have lucas arts done recently apart from make star wars games? I am so behind on pc games - have there been any new scumm games recently? I bought the third monkey island, and I was pretty sure there was a 4th... I heard something about a sequel to full throttle - did that eventuate? cos that was an ace game.
ooh and earthworm jim - I didn't think that game was really that great, but I do think it was pretty awesome how you could keep making that cows say 'well done' at the end of the level. I got hours of fun out of that one. I always wanted to play conkers bad fur day... but do you know how hard it is to find all the good n64 games now? the only games second hand stores seem to have are waverace, rogue squadron and 1080. all games I've owned and sold already - but only cos they were cheap when I bought them second hand. hybrid heaven was kind of kewl actually, but was no where near expansive enough. that reminds me - I never bothered finishing mystical ninja? I should do that someday...
damn. I had one more dynamite point re:your post but it escapes me now.

I've never known anyone who has gotten into that game that doesn't totally swear by it. having said that, I never really got into. that could have something to do with the fact I've never owned it - but I have played it. it's more or less just a japanese take on the whole simcity thing - in fact, I wonder if 'the sims' were in some ways inspired by harvest moon? my guess is prolly no, but I can still wonder it... and I guess the designers of the sims would have at least been aware of harvest moon... but then they are prolly aware of a whole genre of sim dating games people like us who use newgrounds wouldn't have any vague inkling of <the pic at the end of this post goes here>
um... I had more to say? oh yeah... um... my favourite game for now is viewtiful joe. but then I haven't played that for a week now, and when I finally beat it (I was weak, I did it on kids <reuse that pic here>) it was a *little bit* of a let down - all that effort and nothing much to show for it <pic here too>. see, that tak game was pretty good for that. while the game itself wasn't that spectacular (it's not bad - some parts were completely frustrating), I really really liked the rewards the game gives you - the cut scenes are mostly hilarious, and stuff like concept art is such a totally kewl thing to have hidden in a game. If I had a playstation I'd wanna get that transformers game, cos while I've heard mixed reports about how it plays, I've heard you can unlock some pretty kewl secrets.
fuck. what a long post. I doubt anyone even reads it <pic works here too>

in retribution I am gonna turn this thread into a thread about how the audio portal needs an overhaul. please note, this is my understanding of how things are right now, so forgive me if I get things wrong. Currently, users who submit sub-par audio are banned. yet their audio still remains on the site - but it is excluded from any search results. I think this sux.

selfish. that's all suicide is about in most cases - selfishness. the only exceptions are the honour bound style of suicide, but then they usually serve to protect a family rather than destroy them.

for that to work it'd have to be if they are blammed at the first threshold. I don't think you should discourage people whose movies almost make it past judgement from trying to improve their movies. after all, isn't that what obituaries are for? but if a movie gets blammed with a score of 0.12 or something like that, I think then that a fair assumption can be made that the author put no effort into their movie whatsoever.
At 6/21/04 02:45 PM, Pure_LionHeart wrote: ...but i've blown the whistle on ones that say "I know this will get blammed anyway". I take it it has to say "Free Blam Point" in the description.
that's actually a decent point. however, the grey area here is that sometimes authors update their comments as soon as it becomes clear that their submission is not going to pass judgement, and then it may look like they submitted with the knowledge it would mostly likely be blammed, when in actual fact they originally had every intention of getting the movie protected.

I think the problem with the current system is that too much of the work is left up to too few people - namely the admins. perhaps what needs to be done is that either the power of the review mods is extended or an entirely new category of mods is created to handle flagged submissions. ideally (and I say ideally because I know this might not be worth it in terms of the effort need to implement this) would be a system where the portal mods would unflag or delete obvious cases, but have a second level of flag to indicate a submission requires the attention of an administrator - so that where a mod is unsure of how a movie fits within the guidelines, an admin can still have final say over the fate of the submission. it would be a small problem I guess that this new 'position' would be more open to abuse than any other currently existing volunteer role on the site - but then all the current moderator roles are still open to abuse, and to the best of my knowledge, haven't been abused.
