Oh I do love this topic so much lol. It's simple, we're humans, accept it. People by nature love conflict, drama, and action. It reminds me of a song I like by one of my favorite bands, and just for a treat, and because I'm drifting away from my regular intelecualy styled arguments, I'll give a short exerpt.

Eye on the TV
'cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavour
It happens to be like;
Killed by the husband
Drowned by the ocean
Shot by his own son
She used the poison in his tea
And kissed him goodbye
That's my kind of story
It's no fun 'til someone dies...

...Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
You all need it too, don't lie
Why can't we just admit it?

Vicarious - Tool

The name of the song is linked to a lyrics site.

Personaly, I love violence, and accept it as my human nature, I personaly use video games, sports, and exercise as an outlet for my own personal deviance. I'm not going to go out and shoot somebody in real life, but I do enjoy blowing the living crap out of things in a massive hail of gunfire or using a rocket launcer in my video games. Alternatively, I play football and wrestle, which are an organized and "safe" means for me to have "ordered violence". Yeah, I understand a lot of people are not going to agree with A LOT of what I just said, but in all honesty, who doesn't have conflict in their lives? Weather it be an argument with another person, a physical fight, stress from work, love of sports, news, or even reading a novel that isn't all happy all the time. I know this part is going to sound a little messed up, but if everything were perfect in the world, it would be horribly boring. Get your fill of other peoples tragedies (granted that is a pretty sickening practice, but you wouldn't watch it if it didn't envoke something for you) go play your video games, lift some weights, or indulge in your sports. It's better than being cruel to other people.

Response to: What I hate about America. Posted July 9th, 2007 in Politics

This is a question of extreemists, i understand full well the creator of the post had no intention of it, but there are few solutions for the problem. America has major issues because many of the citizens don't care enough, people bitch and complain about EVERYTHING, but what is voter turnout? I can't quote the exact figure, but I am willing to conjecture it isn't even half. I, being to young to vote, am only able to bitch and complain. I can protest and assert my right to free speach, but when it comes down to it, I can't vote for who does what in my sad little country. But i digress. The point is the only real solutions to the problem are stronger nationalism and possible isolationism, but those politicaly minded people out there know that those two ideas don't come hand in hand. As an example: 9-11, it was amazing what happened to american nationalism when our country was attacked, it skyrocketed, enough said. But what was that nationalism mostly based on? Vengance? Retribution? Suddenly the primary concern of the US is "We're pissed off, so we're coming over to your house to kick your asses." Isolationism doesn't work, anyone who has taken a highschool history class knows that, but being perveyors of death only subverts the problem so much. It's the f-ing domino effect, we're doing something that doesn't have the full backing of it's people (never going to happen by the way) or the rest of the world. That in turn is going to cause greater hostilities with other people, the radicals who have a bomb, a set of balls, and not much in thier heads. It's a social conundrum if you ask me. Simply put, you can never apease everybody without making a total martyr out of yourself. And even if you do that, there are STILL going to be people who don't like you. If you want the problem fixed and you are over 18, get registered and go vote. (I know I'm preaching to the quior here, because anybody who has an opinion on politics who can vote would do so, or else they realy have no reason to complain) Vote for the best canidate also, don't just vote Democrat or Republican if you don't like them, because if everyone votes for the best canidate, then everyone's vote matters.

Anyways, thank you for reading that long winded rant, and I look forward to an inteligent opinion on it :)

Response to: Right wing media bias Posted July 8th, 2007 in Politics

There is no great argument to this entire post either way. Find me a completely unbiased news network in the US or the UK. It's not going to happen, by human nature we express our opinions in the way that we see and percieve them. Rather than complain about the political biases of news networking (and generaly all new media including newspapers an magazines) look at the facts themselves from the biased standpoint and creat your owm personal comclusion on the topic. Honestly, and not to be hateful, to point out media bias is just... well we don't have to say what it is, because it's realy, REALY obvious that it is biased, and it has ALWAYS been obvious...

(no offence was meant in this post to any party and is based on opinion and neither direct nor indirect research)
