Heh maybe your forget nuclear war?
There are atleast 27,000 Nukes in the world today. Remember Hiroshima? That was ONE Nuclear bomb.
Go figure

The two nukes dropped on japan were fairly weak in comparison to modern nukes. In the 60's though the early 80's the US army had hundreds of surface to air missiles called nike Hercules that were only used to shoot down Russian bomber squadrons that were about two or three times as powerful as the ones that hit japan.

Having defenses are important but they should not be the most important goal of a civilization, humans are imperfect and intill we grow to live in harmony its a good idea to be ready to kill when necessary.

Response to: Taxation, what you don't know! Posted August 17th, 2007 in Politics

I don't think there should be property tax, as you said it makes all land owners want to make there land profitable but that means then that land owners would be punished for havening any unused land, all of it must me generating income and that contributes to urban sprawl, destruction of untouched natural land and large scenic paices of public and private land

What would you rather have, head out back yard, walking for hours in a forest on other peoples property who have so much land they don't care that your there then pitching a tent and starting a large fire

OR

sleeping in a tent in your 12X24 foot back yard on a concrete slab with four of your neighbors houses in spitting distance watching you wondering what your doing?

Also if you do not pay your property tax the government will take your property so that MAKES THE GOVERNMENT LIKE A RENTER OF ALL OF ITS LAND if you do not pay your rent you cannot own land also you don't actually own land your just renting it from the goverment

I had the same problem before we had new windows and AC, my family would go down stairs and start moving EVERYTHING around and stomp on the crickets as they came out. Also We would sneak down stairs late at night with flashlights when my folks were asleep and we would blast them with BB guns ( the first shot usualy blew off a leg and immobilized them and then the next few finished them off)

Id suggest a seek and destroy mission for your cricket friend

Are you thinking of electroluminescent panels? They are thin sheets that light up a dim blueish green and are used as backlights for watches.

Most of the new miracle devises like fission power, cars that can run on whatever, flying cars and death rays are only hyped for entertainment and never amount to any practical finished product. Real miracle products like MRI machines, direct injection gas engines and LEDs show up slowly and without much fanfare

I agree with ya 100.17% Nuclear powers biggest problem is its poor image and that people are easily scared by any amount of small news that is repeated enough on the television

GET OVER IT OR KILL YOUR SELF!

I bet your life is not unbearable because if it were you would have killed your self by now,

Sounds to me like your some unpopular looser with no friends (hey me too lol)

YOU NEED A PURPOSE IN LIFE Find something worth doing that you may like, don't take too long looking around because you know best what you like and procrastinating for 10 years is not going to make any perfect choice come your way. Then Do it, once you find your calling commit your self with all consuming devotion .

Have you ever really been into a videogame, movie, toy and nothing else mattered while you were doing it? Find something productive that will make you feel the same way and your problems with loneyness will cease to be.

Join the army, start a website, master a skill SOMTHING!!!

For the most part CLFs , leds and HIDs are better in most ways but incondesent light bulbs still have a purpose and I don't think it is wise to ban them or any other technology just because a more efficient one becomes practical. The better product will find its way into use eventually, CFLs in most places, incondesent in others.

The energy savings the new CLFs give is a good thing, I'm not opposed to them because of that.

Have you heard about the new solid state hard drives they use less energy and work almost as well as mechanical ones, so should we ban mechanical HDs?

Why how can you be so proud that our country has a great advanced military, all you did was live here, you did not design or build the machines.

Its like taking credit for a home run when you sit on the bench the whole game.

Banning incondesent lights! Posted August 13th, 2007 in Politics

The governments of Canada, Australia and the European union have recently come up with plans to ban the sale of incandescent light bulbs (the kind that have a glowing tungsten filament) with the idea that it will help reduce green house gas emissions. Its hoped that in Australia it will reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by .14%

What are people going to use to light up there bathrooms (CFLs are sensitive to humidity and a protective cover would cause a build up in heat which shortens the lights life)

What are folks going use to light up there ovens? LEDs (sensitive to heat), CFLs (heat again), High intensity discharge lamps (cost and warm up time)

Car headlights would need to be HIDs and they cost around $1000

No more easy bake ovens (they will be missed)

Why are they doing this? .17%!! When are they going to start banning other things? CRTs, two stroke engines, vacuum fluorescent displays, gas lawnmowers, old furnaces?

I bet they could eliminate .17% by making it easier to build nuclear power plants instead of coal.
