For a beginner, I don't see why that wouldn't be an appropriate amount of time to do what you did (good job, by the way).

For myself, it really depends on what I'm doing. If I'm animating an ocean in the background, as well as clouds, then something else in the foreground, that can easily be several hours for just seconds of animation.

It really depends what you're doing. I also procrastinate tons.

i see ...so im on the right way, huh? well i just have to learn not to waste so much time on doing other things while i make animations xD thanks =)

Better than my first animation.

My advice is to look up as many tutorials as you can (i suggest sticking to ones based on fbf animation rather than animating with symbols and movie clips but it's your call). As a beginner you have to just be a sponge and absorb all the information you can. There's some good tuts on here as well, so you shouldn't be short of learning opportunities.

Now go out there and make us proud.

wow really motivating =) thanks! i watched the tutorials of spazkid they were really helpfull because they have lots of good tricks in it....also i will and want to do animations based on fbf because i think this has more life in it =)

For your first animation you should start small and simple, like maybe something with stick figures, just so you can get the hang of it.

shall i use the bone tool for the stick figure animation? i know how to use it so that i can (for example) wave an arm but how can i connect body parts? like the upper arm and under arm so that it becomes a full arm...if you know what i mean :s

Okay thats a good idea ! Stick figures ! Thanks :D yeah i will probably do frame by frame animation and i think the most important shortcuts are F5 to F7 ...or what donyou mean by symbols?
