"juliet, Juliet" Voiceacting Collab Posted November 12th, 2014 in Collaboration

Hey NG,
I'm writing a podcast that I have tentatively named "Juliet, Juliet."
Here is the teaser summary:
"1942: This is the story of an American commando dropped behind enemy lines. He is to set up a radio in the attic of a civilian dwelling and broadcast troop movements and important intelligence to spies in London, code-named Juliet, as well as resistance forces. The commando uses coded messages so that any enemy picking up his radio waves would not be able to decipher it. At least, that’s what we think."

I am looking for a voice actor who can voice this commando better than me! (Shouldn't be that hard, I'm not very good at voice acting.) Depending on how the first few episodes turn out, I'm prepared to produce at least one season of "Juliet, Juliet."

If you are interested in the role, I encourage you to record a sample of the pilot script (see below). You can record all or part of the script, whatever you think will best represent your voice acting.
Now more specific pointers: I'm not looking for a gruff "batman voice" to do this. I want a guy who sounds more or less normal, but also adult. You know, what you would expect from an army soldier. Accents are doable too! Let's see what you do. Feel free to add any effects if you so please (radio static etc.)

Sample:
‘Juliet Juliet, do you come in Juliet?
This is Firefly.
This is firefly.
Landed safely last night, radio seems to be working. T
he host family is quiet. Very quiet.
The father took me in, fed me some kind of squirrel stew.
The wife just sat, looking at me from across the table with dark, concerned, eyes. They did not look at my sloppy eating, or the fact that I had placed a semi-automatic pistol on the table, but they looked at my ears.
The kids don’t look at me. They just play with fire.
Juliet it seems that I must end this broadcast early. The father has just informed me that an enemy transport truck has overturned about a mile down the road, and some kind of red haze is drifting out of it. I must go investigate. This may be bingo. I repeat, I have bingo. Five across.

But before I go I just HAVE to inform you of something that has quite intrigued me.

In the attic here I found a book.
It does not have a title.
I repeat: it does not have a title.
It is written in a script that I have never seen. It is not latin, russian, or any asian script. It flows like cursive, includes many dots and squiggles. Many letters flow into eachother. Punctuation is minimal. It seems to be written left to right? What is more mysterious are the drawings inside. Sketches of strange beasts and odd machines that I could never have imagined. Look, I just opened to a random page and there is a drawing of people walking on a city street in the rain They hold umbrellas, but also walking on the street are pairs of legs maybe eight inches high. Or for you Juliet I guess that would be twelve centimeters? The pair of legs have umbrellas covering them, but there is no handle. The umbrella just seems to float on top of these walking legs. On another page is a map, a map of a land I have never seen. I will send more information as it becomes available.

Eight. Five. Seven. Four. Three. Three. One. Two. Oscar. One. Niner. Kappa. Four. Seven. Foxtrot. Seven. Seven. Juliet.

*a long pause*

End of transmission, Juliet.

Film Noir Modern Mashup Posted November 6th, 2014 in Audio

Hey NG,
I'm creating a Film Noir police drama film and I am searching for music that fits into the film-noir jazz style but has modern elements to it (e.g. synthesizer, electric guitar, etc.) If anyone knows of any, let me know! Also, more importantly, if anyone wants to sign on as a composer for this project, I'd be more than happy to have you. You'd be doing jazz and the mashup I described above. Reply below or PM me if interested.

Bump

Hey NG,
I'm currently developing a semi-professional instructional video for biotechnology courses. The video takes the form of a narrative drama story, but the story demonstrates key biological processes in a way that is easy for people to grasp. I have all the voice acting I need (many of them were recruited in this very forum), but our lead animator has recently quit. I need somebody to replace him.

The animation is not flash so this should NOT be time intensive whatsoever. We're doing a stop motion and I simply need character models (PNGs) and backgrounds that I can get somebody to position to create scenes, kind of like digital puppets.

If anyone is interested, this is a great opportunity to expand your animation portfolio.
If you want to know more or are interested in participating, reply down below or send me a private message.

Cheers

Okay so we went over all of your submissions, and damn there is some talent here. All of the submissions were amazing, but we chose who we thought would fit the roles the best. If you see your name down here, I'm gonna need you to send me a private message with your google account email linked so that I can add you to the google doc with the script. We'll give you more information once you are linked into the Google Document.
The following people should PRIVATE MESSAGE me as soon as possible so we can get started! [In no particular order]

CDwaver
BitTripAlphonse
Jim-Nickabocker
H3LLRAISOR
JackJackington

Once you're added to the google doc, you'll be briefed on your character and we'll start.
Thanks!

If you don't mind me asking, if you're planning on doing shorts and stuff, what's the animation going to look like?

We're experimenting with different methods at the moment including stop motion, adobe, and even classic animation; though I'm not quite sure what you're asking?

Sample lines are posted below! I encourage all interested to post an audio sample. The other producers will decide on how we'll procede from there. Given the samples some of you gave, things are looking good!

Hey again! I listened to all of your demos and I am quite impressed to be honest. I'm going to post some sample lines for each character and you guys can send your interpretations and we'll procede from there!

Father: this, son, is where I work. I'm at the core of this infrastructure. I'm no simple factory worker, I've worked my way to the top! This, I expect of you.

SWAT: Go go! Do you have eyes on? What happened here? This is 2 2 I'm calling in what appears to be a triple homicide but uncertain. Negative sir none alive. What was tha?!

Zombie (male): blarrrgh ffffdhhhh Noo urrrg! Etc...
Zombie (female): blurgggggg henryyyyyy gatttttchhhh blurrrg

Accountant: hey this is restricted access you can't be in here! What what are you doing? No please don't hurt me please please... I just lost my brother. I just lost...wait..it was you! You killed him!

Newscaster (male and female): a state of emergency has been declared (insert your own stuff here)

Child: this is amazing! Holy crap what was that?

If you guys can demo this and post or pm me that would be amazing! Feel free to interpret the roles as you see fit :)
