Thanks for the advice Nae.

I made the items a little larger, is that better? I'm not really going to make them into three single pieces, even though I understand what you mean. But the point of the pic is to compare the three.

I rather go for a second submission.

Lol, where do you get those random ideas from? But I think it would clash with the simple style of my baked pastries. Thanks though!

Cupcakes and Muffins are different. Just eat them and you will see that the consistency is not even the same. Like Lintire said about different types of batters/doughs.

Jonny is a great voice actor, but I think a real female voice is necessary.

Since some thread about minimalism popped up in the forums lately, I remembered a pic I once drew with.... (here it comes).... Facebook Graffiti!

I thought I might just take a screenshot and dump it here.

Ok let's see.... there are grey splotches to the left and right of the blonde guy. Are they supposed to be there? And if yes, why?

The pic looks kinda unfinished, especially the background.

I seems as if they are waiting for something, so if this was your intention: good job bringing that across.

The drawing lacks depth. You should add some shading to make it look less flat. Also I would like to see it finished, could be interesting.

Lol, it's supposed to Gatling.

On NG the pic looks worse for some reason, resolution-wise.

Ok, low resolution or not, even with a lot of fantasy I can not read anything close to a "G" there. The rest of the word looks interesting though.

What does "album cover I made" mean? Did you draw it (or parts of it) or is it a photo collage / manipulation?

I kinda like it, even with the large open space, but it would be interesting to see if less space improves the overall pic.

Response to: Minimalism Posted February 12th, 2011 in Art

Minimalism in drawing can be very beautiful if it's done right, but I prefer seeing it in product designs and photography to be honest.

As for this piece, I think the red is too dominating. Maybe a cropped version could draw more attention to the eyes and look better (at least to me). But I'm not saying it's bad.

Apart from what everybody said already, the little notch in the lower left of the moon is bothering me. Did you do that on purpose or did you just leave it when it happened? I'd suggest a different colour tone for the eyes, instead of using the same as for the tree.

I think if you apply some of the advice given to you so far, this could become a solid piece.

I really don't want to bother you, but I quickly messed with the pic a little. I hope you dont mind.

Two things:

Her right breast (left from our view) should not be sooo much behind her body. The continuing body line I marked with "1" is what makes it looks off to me.

You could draw the line of her left breast (marked with 2) a slight bit longer to bring both breasts a little closer together and maybe it does no longer look smaller than the right one then.

I also thought the moon was the main focus when I first saw the pic. But Occluded usually knows what he does, so I think there is no reason to worry yet.

Well I think her left breast is off. It was too straight when you posted the WIP without the steam, but I think it's pulled back a little too far and also looks smaller than the other one now.

Lol, that breast keeps hunting you through this thread, isn't it?

Anything related to Ireland, St. Patricks Day or something like that would be very interesting. Maybe a "clove" or "shamrock" as an icon.

Also it's the time of brazilian carnival (as well as cologne carnival here in Germany).

Or you choose something related to booze, so all of the above holidays are covered.

A good caption for your original sketch good sir would be "i say."

The "Good Sir" is a "Dear Madam" actually.

And the shark in the sketch looks more like he's screaming, so "I say" is not really fitting imo.

I'd say "MILK PLEASE!"

Pros and Cons of immigration

Vegetarianism vs. Meat consumption

Response to: Fireworks help Posted February 1st, 2011 in Art

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but instead of spending a lot of time on finding tutorials, you could look at references of real fireworks and try to draw what you see. The tutorials I've seen are pretty bad.

As for your sample pic, the lines and particels shouldn't go all over the place. They should emanate from two or three centers. Really, the only real advice I can give is, that you should look at some reference pictures.
