Yes they would work. I recommend trying it and posting the result here for more, better feedback.

So long and good luck!

I can ONLY USE 3 COLORS!!!

You could work with stripes or something and create the illusion of more colours.

And hopefully, Austin is not considering this cheating.

Nice! But what happened to my card?

This seems to be only a demo. Your card will probably be in a different play mode. But your name is in the about section.

Just like mine btw, I thought there was no room anymore, or was there?

Something more realistic or with correct human anatomy. An apple, basic geometric shapes or anything else. I'm just curious how that works out for you.

A stylized or "cartoony" approach is not bad or anything though.

Thanks for the feedback dude.

You're welcome.

Actually, the use of gradients is not recommendable, you should adds shades and highlights manually (like you did). This gets you better results most of the time, especially in vector art.

No problem, we should save this one for a potential sequel with even more play modes after this one will be a success.

If there are enough backgrounds, I'm not going to make one. I find it kinda difficult to come up with a good idea for a background most of the time. But thanks for the info.

Ya this pic looks pretty cool, it seems drawn well and there are a lot of details going on. Btw you should link to the art submission to let the viewers see all the details.

Especially your job on the stones and on the hands is impressive.

You could try here. Choose a colour and upload your pic. You can resize it there accordingly and see how it could look.

No, that's actually one of the things the forum is for.

That aside, I was hoping to pull another Vash (See linked pic in original post)... but I guess the fact that I only spent about 20 min on this one as opposed to the 2 days I spent on Vash... combined with the fact that I'm extremely rusty... It's probably not as good as it could be... But I figure any practice moving forward is better than none at all.

I would recommend spending more time on it then. It's a good start, but why stop after 20 mins? You don't necessarily have to continue with it now, but I just mean posting a working progress pic shouldn't stop you from putting more work in it, if you feel like you can improve it.

Response to: Bfp Progression Thread Posted April 11th, 2011 in Art

Oh I just saw your response to Aigis after I commented.

Actually this is pretty good for you first drawing after 8 years. The hair is what makes it looks like it's tilted, but in fact the head itself seems pretty balanced. The hair is longer on the left side, dunno if this was intended.

I think the eyes are a little huge even for an anime style, someone more experienced with anime can judge this way better than me though.

You could try to add some shades, just to see where it gets you.

Not sure I catch your meaning here.

Like everyone else.... I'm not really sure what good ol' Vero is trying to say, but my best guess is that it is helpful to draw a basic shape of a head with some guidelines before you add features and details. Just to make sure everything gets in it's place.

I hope you don't mind me posting pics in your thread, but this is a helpful illustration from learning-to-see.co.uk. (by Andrew Loomis btw)

Welcome to our beloved art forum!

Of course you can fit in here. Your drawing looks nice and no matter if it is referenced, it definitely takes some pencil skill to achieve a pic like that.

And like maficmelody said, you can use the include picture form below the message form to upload your pic into the thread (in addition to linking the high-res art portal submission). That would be highly appreciated because the art forum bunch is kinda lazy, when it comes to click links.

No, honestly it's also about having the pic available if the linked file is deleted / removed someday.

I'd recommend creating a personal art showcase thread (you could use this one or create one thread with a more suiting name if you want) and dump everything you have drawn and will draw there. That way you will get some constructive critique and "get back into it" in no time.

Enjoy your stay, Ma'am!

Actually I think the content is even more important than the "craftsmanship" behind it at some point. Of course, drawing stickmen and calling it style is bullshit, but sometimes I feel we focus only if everything in a piece is simply drawn correct instead of commenting on what some pictures display.

As for this WMD piece, it's drawn good. It's a caricature style, but it's still full pretty generic ideas. I mean a "hooknosed jew"? Really? Come on. Oh and the american muscleman soldier? Yes, that's as original as an englishman with a billycock and a cup of tea.

Or a german with a beer.... but in fact we really drink beer all the times.

And palestina is portrayed by a woman, therefore palestina is depicted innocent and defenseless, which is not only a lame idea but also a lie.

Finally there are typos in and double empty spaces in the text, the perspective on the soldiers right foot is not correct, the woman has only four toes on her right foot and three on her left foot (although on the left foot it could be the perspective), the left arm of the "jew" is way longer than the other one and the lighting on the soldiers hair comes from above while all the other light is coming from the front.

There are possibly many other flaws i didn't find, but that's just my observation.

Apart from that it's still a good piece technically, but the content is pretty lame.

And no I'm not going to post this as a review, because it those conspiracy guys feast on the attention of people and he already got more attention than the pic deserves.

Also, it's an artists freedom to depict his opinion, but it's something different when someone uses stylistic elements and shitty YouTube videos to spread propaganda.

Not that everything he says is wrong, but he's distorting the truth a little too much for my taste.
But yes Jonny, I am also laughing about the comments. :P

Do you want us to give you ideas what people do to blue cats? Will you then draw it?

Or is this some kind of activity thread where everybody should draw things involving blue cats?

This is not meant to sound rude, but your opening post is not explaining anything very well.
