A very late happy birthday to D, too! And thanks for the birthday wishes. I know I'm late, but I just got home today.
What did I miss?

Hey ForNoReason, I won't be around for the next couple of days, but I will hopefully have a finished picture when I return.

I personally use a .7 mechanical pencil. Just make sure you have a few sticks of lead inside. But they are usually more dependable than a normal pencil, since the point can break or dull. Especially if you're sketching, where fine detail won't be the goal. Then again, I use mechanical pencils for everything, so I am quite fond of them.
If you do choose to use normal pencils, I would advise bringing along a few extras, or a pencil sharpener. Also, don't forget an eraser (I use a cap eraser that I just stick on the end of my pencil, but a kneaded one is prolly the best).
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~!!!
Oh one of those eraser caps sounds like a good idea. The little eraser that is already on top of the pencil seems insufficient to my needs. Also I bought a pencil sharpener which I plan to take along too.
The only problem I have with mechanical pencils is that I can't tilt the pen to get much broader and softer lines like I can do with regular pens. But then again the extra lead sticks are possible very useful.
Maybe I just take two with me, a regular medium pencil and one mchanical, that should do it. Thanks a lot for the tips.
To those who don't know yet.... I like them feathers....
Hey there,
if you can handle the critique you will receive then you can of course submit them. If you just want to receive positive feedback or praise then this is probably not the right place.
I'd suggest using a different font though and maybe checking your writing. Like using a consistent punctuation and proper use of apostrophe.
Apart from that, it's not that bad for a daily webcomic.
Also, you should upload the comic to the thread, because it's very inconvenient that one has to login to dA first to take a look at it.
Good luck with it anyways!

Right now when I scan in it goes to acrobe then I move it to mspaint. Leaves me a nasty white block of empty space on the right side I can't get rid of. I've heard of blender but thats 3d art. Will something like that still work or is another program better then that.
Welcome to the forum then,
Re2deemer posted a list with some free art programs and even reviewd some.
The GIMP seems to be the most popular free program.
Next, I recommend uploading some of your already existing pics to this thread using the include picture form below the message box. That way you can get some tips and hints more easily.
I hope you enjoy your stay here.
Found this user on dA.... suprisingly you can also find some good stuff there.
The reason I stumbled across her, was this pic.
Also, I already regret posting in wesmeadow's thread. It should just die. :(
Just to help us understand: Are you talking about photo manipulations or about actual drawings?
Many people here can manipulate very well, but you won't find that on their art tab.
Also for the records, I would not call DeviantArt an art forum. More like a huge anonymous art blob where you get kudos if you "fave" enough pics.
Take a look at the lounge where the topic of "following" wes has been discussed already. And you are right it was probably not a good thing to do.
IMO it was also not fair of him to post bad about the NG art forum just because he can't take critiques. Of course the regs around here went there and gave him an appropriate answer. He wasn't bullied, if you take a look at some other threads, he has in fact received much more helpful advice, comments, critiques and patience than many other users, who get flamed for less.
This is NG's art forum, if anybody doesn't like it here then please enjoy the "I fave you and you fave me" attitude over at dA.
I don't own photoshop myself but I'm pretty sure there is an "opacity" slider somewhere at the top of the work area and it seems to be set at 50% while you should set it to 100% to get "normal" brush strokes.
In other news, I got myself a small sketchbook and a medium (HB - 2 1/2) pencil. Let's say I want to sketch while I'm "on the go" and only want to take one pencil with me, is that the right choice?
All I managed to draw so far are some basic pencil practices. But I hope this will help me with my usual digital drawings someday, too.
I pasted the third item closer to the first two so I don't have to post two pics.
Sorry for the dark pic

I like the middle one the most.
Thanks for the feedback. I guess that means I should have used a little less sepia to end up closer to the middle version.
And looking back through this thread, you've improved a lot in less than a year.
Thanks! All improvement is owed to the art forum regs.
Time to bump my art thread again. Regarding my latest (and most late) flood pic I asked myself if I added too much of that sepia tone.
Here are:
1) My original drawing with red bricks (for the lulz)
2) The recoloured version with a low saturated brown
3) The version with the sepia tone (too much?)
What do you think?
The brick wall was fun to draw. l did not use a texture to make it look like stone, but instead set pen dynamics "random" to colour and size and used a soft brush in GIMP ("Circle Fuzzy"). I kinda like how that worked out.
Sorry for letting you flooders down again. I was not able to submit.

Aaaawww I can't believe I missed this thread. :(
There's no chance that someone can draw me a time machine, or is there?
Anyways, great whoring thread Lintire.
You have a better chance to get serious comments and critiques if you upload your pics to the thread.
Just an advise....
Generally, I like your pics, but that's probably the kind of superficial answer you were NOT looking for. :P

Oh I forgot Toast! :O
Happy Birthday to you, my roasted flour and water dough fellow.

Looks pretty cool. I like the saturated orange colour a lot.
But I don't like the way you drew the text. To me, it looked better in your sketch.
His facial expression is great btw. :P

If you can't do art yourself, the best way would be to use the ingame graphics for such purposes.
Also maybe a screenshot of how the actual game looks, could help you getting serious results.
But I'm not going to lie, your chances of getting free art in here are pretty low.
You could try your luck in the Movie/Game Request Thread, but be sure to read the opening post.
Good luck!
