Not too shabby, I must say. I have a little problem with the hair at the back of his/her head. It looks like there is a patch of hair at the top and a patch at the bottom with a bald spot in between. I would connect the bottom part of the ear mid way up the ear or something. I wish i could do a quick doodle for you, but i don't have my computer.

Really nice what you did to the pic so far. I take it Sockembop means something like in the attached pic. The green line is how I would have changed it, the red line is kinda what I saw on a reference pic.

I hope you don't mind that I sketched on your drawing.

Good luck for the contest!

You may be a better artist, but you have also show to be a worse ass. And I'm sure the art forum can do with one less asshole.

@Kinsei: Even though I agree with your view on things, I don't think anybody needs to leave. But you are generally right about the topic.

@Artist-Lost: It's just one thing to be a great artist like you definitely are and another thing to be an ass about it. The way you gave constructive criticism in the NDC thread was really great, if you went more with that kind of replies you sure are a win for the forum.

Generally we should continue the convo somewhere else than in this thread.

As for the OP: Good luck finding someone for your request, it sure won't be easy. You should additionally make a newspost about it and add a link in your sig. Maybe someone stumbles upon it by chance.

Learn to be patient. You said it's a WIP so people won't jump to leave you a review, especially not if you bump your thread for no reason that often.

This crew is really a big win for the NG community.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't think any art reg actually spammed the contest. They just pointed out, that they hope there will be some better entries soon.

Calling dibs on B, dunno how long i take, but I will try to post within three days.

It's awkward that users regret posting an art contest in the art forum, no matter how disliked the theme is, as long as it doesn't break the rules and they are serious about it. :(

Sure I use reference a little bit but, just a little bit.

I don't think you are tracing and Ashman also corrected hs statement in the "My little pony" contest thread. So I think everything is fine. Referencing stuff is actually common practice and no problem at all.

As for your latest drawing, it again looks promising but I must admit that it does not look finished either. Try to add some details to the abs. The line work is better on it and the colour choice is nice. I don't like the background though. You could also think of what you can add to the pic except for details. Maybe a secondary character, maybe some items? Accesoirs? Weapons? Up to you, but all that could help your composition.

Once you have done one or more of these things, you should upload the updated version and hopefully people can give you more critique to work from.

Good luck!

And I can't believe the pony contest is such a big topic. If you want to participate, do it, if you think it's a joke leave it. The worst that will come out of it are lucky artists with store credit. The people spamming it are the actual problem, not art forum regs. But everyone should be allowed to express his dislike for memes.

Good luck with it nevertheless, EJR
Response to: Comic Jam Information Thread Posted August 17th, 2011 in Art

Since the jam is getting closer I thought I should share this short article about comic writing with you.

I hope you don't mind that Aigis.

It's just that I have seen many users that just write stories instead of actually writing comics with all the necessary parts as explained in the article.

I hope this is of some help to someone.

Good luck to all participants!

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted August 17th, 2011 in Art

I think the contest was more about making fun of the pony meme. I don't think anybody aimed that at a certain forum.

Sock is right, it should have some serious entries, that would be better than the trolling that's going on.

It may have been funny when exosphere started it, but it's getting old now.

I spent 2 HOURS on that piece. Then I had to go to bed.

2 hours is fine, but most artists around spend even more time on their pieces.

Don't get me wrong here, it's not a bad drawing, but the B looks unfinished and the background can be improved if you cut off some of the emptiness.

If you have to go to bed, then nothing stops you from finsihing the pic at a later date.

I think the B could use more details and maybe some secondary highlights on the StrawberryClock, which looks rather nice apart from that.

Also the background looks kinda boring, but I can see that you tried to adapt the "theme" of the ng logo there. Maybe you should cut off a bit on the left and right to make it looks less empty.

The StrawberryClock is the way you should draw more of your stuff. Cleaned up linework, nice colouring and a good amount of definition. No blurry edges or something.

Don't take negative feedback too personal, it will only make you improve.

I think they pointed you to the art forum, cause they did not know that we already know your art.

And appreciate it.

Thus this thread is of little or even no purpose.

I think you be better off creating a newspost and adding a link to it in your sig.

Reading "Click here if you are interested in hiring me / collaborating with me" for example.
