For Whom It May Concern

The absolute last day to have your panel in is May 18th... meaning its physically sitting on my desk on that date. I have the 70 entries i wanted to have and now im comfortable shutting out anyone that didnt get it back to me in time... you had a month and a half to fill in a 5 inch panel... seems more than plenty of time.

To everyone who did bother to return yours in a timely manner, thanks :)

youre not an idiot dont worry.. the bare bones collab.. lol

what a fucking idiot. i still cant get over it.. i may unlock it just to see where it goes.

ok well on a serious note, you can suggest ideas nothing wrong with that.. noob or not you can make a thread suggest an idea... its unlikely anyone will take you up on it but who knows.. i think the audio bot is such an underused character.
Please use a real title for your thread though.. just ask your question dont tell us its stupid as a title for it.

College shit

The first year (sometimes two) of college are rough... you expect college to be different from school in that you are there studying something you want to do but the first year is usually a foundation year and you can expect to encounter a year where you are taking all sorts of classes.. most of which you probably have no desire to be in..

i remember being extremely frustrated with my first year.. so much so that i wanted to just drop out. But as your college career goes on you start to concentrate more and more on things that you are interested in and you truly grow into a professional.. so ya just be mentally prepared to go at it hard the first year and stay the course. In terms of college.. the first year is pretty much the same wherever you go so i wouldnt get too bent out of shape about not getting in to your premium choice.. you can always transfer in.

i think animation and flash takes an insane amount of time and commitment and its definately not for everyone... talented or not.

I know really talented artists that are just not comfortable in the animation scene, its such brutal work and you have to have so much patience to mull through thousands of frames.. i think it has more to do with your personality and your drive..

Newgrounds has alot of dreamers, people who see something on the portal and are like hey i want to do that and when they actually get to doing it get bogged down by the amount of effort it takes.

I wanted to also mention that this game would be based on flash 9 technology.. games seem to run better and i figure it would be worthwhile to take advantage of it.

NG collab

I havent ignored peoples requests to consider heading up some sort of engaging collab.. i just want to close out the sketchbook tour and some other commitments.

I was watching that winning pico day entry and i think it may be cool to do something around ng lore... in terms of leveling up or something... i dunno yet.

I was thinking something like the game knighs of the round... see screenshot below. a brawler where you are constantly leveling up and stuff.. im open to suggestions and ignore the medieval theme of the screenshot, i dont want to knock off tom's castle crashers.

I basically want to get together a little dream team where people have very defined duties that take advantage of their strengths and we're all on the same page. I thought i'd use my networking powers to get some guest artists for things like bosses and stuff..

More on that later.

Topic: how do flash sponserships work

Posted: 05/03/07 02:28 PM

Forum: Flash

At 5/3/07 02:16 PM, KillaW0lf04 wrote: How exactly does a sponsership happen?

Typically you pitch an idea or unreleased game to a sponsor and they pay to have their brand at the beginning and to drive traffic to their site.. they usually supply you with assets to get their logo/animation into your piece. After that you are usually welcome to release the swf wherever you want.
Different sponsors pay in different manners.. usually paypal is most convenient. But theres some sponsors that pay you based on how much traffic your game generates.. some give you a flat fee, some like mochiads are based on an 'evergreen' platform aka one that just pays based on its ongoing traffic. etc.. You gotta contact your sponsor to figure out how they do it. Different sponsors have different rates as well.

Thats sponsorships in a nutshell.

I agree with your frustration.. its tough finding flash books that are more expert related... every flash book i pick up atleast 5 chapters are devoted to reaaallly beginner things like symbols, smoothing and other shit. you may want to look into the flash 8 bible... i havent dealt with it too much but i imagine a book that thick must have something worthwhile in it.

Topic: Pico Day 2007 Winners!

Posted: 05/02/07 11:51 PM

Forum: NG News

Congrats to all the winners!

1. Flashback 00
Awesome little movie, caught it late on pico day and it really had alot of obscure and finely tuned details that make ng so rich in history. Definatley sharp in presentation and its thinking.
He brought back Hanzo, whos such an overlooked character damn.

2. Picos Time Tank
Saw this coming together and it was cool to be witness to that process, an unusual combination but it worked out, i think i like that humongous monster part the best.

3. Uberkid's revenge
Had to let this one grow on me, I was at first bothered by the presentation of the characters but i think i learned to appreciate its boldness to present them in a way im not used to. I definately liked the uberkid, i always envisioned the uberkids as these fucked up robots turned evil.
============================

I think Pico Pride was snubbed tho, that thing carried the contraversial nature of pico but without the use of violence, i found it bold and creative.

I do like that pico herpes escape snagged somethin, simple effective and creative as fuck.
nene's so fucking hot.

Pico's suprise party was awesome as well.. said it in the review but those sprites of pico are flawless.

=============================

Congrats to all winners, specially the ones im friends with lol.

Special high five to BoMToons for our ' I participated in pico day and all i got was a shirt!' award.

I suppose I should be upset but im not, had some terrible planning with the sketchbook tour and alot of commitments to other projects that I debated not even being part of pico day this year, im glad i got my shit together and TrueDarkness dropped everything to help me in the last two weeks.

Overall I'm pleased, I felt good taking a fatherly role in the pico day thread and seeing everyones things come together.. its almost more worth it to see those people win cause its a special pride .. like ' yeah i saw it being put together' type of pride.
