Havent publicly announced it yet but the munny we'll be using for the next competition will be This one.

I always try and find a different set of blanks each year to keep it interesting. Most are fairly affordable so anyone can participate with minor investment, and you can request for your piece back if you dont win/you feel attached to it. Alternatively, if you are a cheapskate you can apply for a sponsored one by submitting your idea :P

If you have any interest in being part of that contest, it might now be a bad idea to get one while they are still in stock. Everytime we start these things up, people get in a craze to order them and find they are sold out or in low supply. So you now have that info a month early

Anyway long story short they are fighting some sort of lawsuit right now for their scammy ads so maybe that 1 billion was short lived.

In the meantime, I'll be waiting for the '09 to pop up.

Its not worth doing that particular format now that there is an art portal, i'd rather divert those expenses to stuff like the munny design competitions and things like that which will still exist. Where its a more unusual 'canvas' to try and show off your creativity.

I dunno we'll see, nothing is final. I still need to finish 2009 anyway.

i always liked these topics, when they do pop up. they remind me of elementary school, when the teacher is out of the room and you start balling up papers and throwing it around and getting on top of the desks and just being rebelious. I think the fact that people do this here shows the young mischievous, cant hold us down spirit of the site. So i like when people misbehave as much as i like the drive by the mods to clean up afterward.

I aint encouraging bad behavior by the way! You will get banned!

*disclaimer: (mind you there's a difference between misbehaving and just pure malice mind you)

I'm still debating whether there will be a 2010 one. This is/was a great project when there was no art portal. Now that there is one, it almost feels redundant to go through the amount of expense and effort to do what essentially is already built and more flexible. We'll see...

this years will definatley be out this year. i know thats not sayin much but yea.

Grrr.

I agree with Paranoia in it being a moral dilemma of what exactly you are in the game dev scene for. I think as a developer its only frusterating when you see stuff out there and you KNOW you can do better and you KNOW you have so much more to offer to the scene and nobody is givin you a chance.

The one interesting thing, from these little e-trends and gaming in general is how the 'gamer' is changing, how that persona and the traditional profile of what is a gamer is evolving. wii fit, Farmville, etc are all examples of like a different breed of gamer with games/apps that are 'dumb-easy' and accessible to that kind of gamer. I dunno... i feel like i just made more questions rather than answeres through my own meandering logic.

Been takin a break from the flash forum and have been reading more business blogs lately. dunno why .. but some stuff is kinda interesting.

This article kind of annoyed me cause FarmVille and Mafia Wars are such terrible 'games' if you even want to call em that.. but who am i to judge if the guy who made them is worth 1 billion.... i suppose if anything, there is still some profitability on the net ... meh.

smuggling drugs have made it difficult to finish this project. But I'll be finished soon. I've actually run into some technical issues with it. Want to have the jpgs hosted inside the ng server itself and thats been kind of tricky. Not really an excuse though.

I need to just buckle down and put up and shutup :)

I'm fine with the heckling anyway, tom has put up with it for 6+ years for pico's school 2

lol. I mean like you get to an age at some point as a kid where you find your dad so lame and you want to be 'cool' and do things your parents dont do or wouldnt approve of. So being into the site dad runs would be cool if you arent a fulp. But if you are, then you are lame, just look at Wade.

Perhaps not all of us are in a position to be able to spend any more money than it takes to support themselves. Perhaps some of us are full time college students with crappy jobs. I don't necessarily need a tablet, but it certainly irks me that you think the older somebody gets the more you should drop money on a dime.

I agree. You have nothing to lose by trying out for a free tablet. Even if its a long shot. Go for it

It also wouldnt hurt to ask for it as a xmas present from your parents/relatives etc, its fairly economical and most parents would be open to the idea of getting you a tablet as opposed to CoD5 or some other overhyped shit :)
