$ Need artist for indie multiplayer Posted October 4th, 2013 in Art

Hey guys!
I am working on a, indie multiplayer game and I need an artist to pick up where the other left off.
My other artist had to set the project aside for personal reasons and now I am a little overworked.
It is a paid job, we will have to determine the amount together.

Here is the post:

Need people for a test Posted September 25th, 2013 in Game Development

Hey lads!

I am making a medieval brawler and I would need some people to actually test the server with a lot of players and send some feedback. Keep in mind that I host the server on my machine right now so there might be some lag.

Would you guys want to give it a try?

Ill try to be on it all day:

Response to: Alpha Feedback( Multiplayer game ) Posted August 5th, 2013 in Game Development

A little bump, im on the servers now if anyone wants to try it.

Hi guys! I have been working on a project for a while and I am now at the stage where its important for me to test the game with players all over the world to fine-tune the netcode and combat mechanics. Since I have been with newgrounds for a while now I thought it would be nice to get some feedback from you lads.

The game is inspired by titles such as Stick Arena, Chivalry Medieval Warfare and War of the Roses.
I hope I will be able to bring a unique twist to the game and provide content even after release.

If you would like to give a try to the very early alpha, please go over there:
http://www.louissi.com/Sellsword/
Friendly Fire is ON

The controls are:
WASD: move
Left click: slash
Righ click: hold block
Space: Stab
F: Shield Bash

Ill be hanging out in the game pretty often but if you want to play with more people, follow me on twitter over at @louissi

Please post your feedback here.

You can continue to develop graphical assets in Flash, but it will not compile As3 code.
The best thing would be to install FlashDevelop.

It offers a code editor superior to Adobe Flashs (any version) and is free.
It also handles other languages like haxe, which could be an alternative Flash is finally dead.

Take a look at this, including different workflows:
http://hub.tutsplus.com/tutorials/beginners-guide-to-flashde velop-basix--active-7168

I am pretty sure I understand it has something to do with sprite scaling, or warping a flat image to give the appearance of perspective, maybe I'm wrong though, any tips are good.
http://www.t45ol.com/play/1181/turbo-spirit.html
Yes, it's just some cheap scaling to fake the third dimension.

You might want to try something a little more sophisticated as you seem to have some experience:
http://hub.tutsplus.com/tutorials/beginners-guide-to-flashde velop-basix--active-7168

There are plenty of 3D engines out there, so why not get started with one of these?

To answer the question in the title, I gathered some links here.

Actually, all swf files, even animations-only files, need to be in as3 mode.

Screenshot:
http://screencast.com/t/QfS8UEOS

In later versions of flash, you have to choose between an as2 and as3 .fla file when starting a new flash file. An as2 .fla file will export a different swf format, and will likely not be embed-able in a as3 project. It happened to me before, it took me a long time to figure out my mistake.

I used Flash Builder 4 at the time.

Response to: Movieclip does not display Posted January 19th, 2012 in Game Development

When you use the methods:
addChild(s1);
addChild(s2);
addChild(cube_mc);

you actually put them in front of anything else.

I think your scrolling background might be hiding your other cube/movieClip

Response to: [As2] Held down key, animation loop Posted January 19th, 2012 in Game Development

Well it would be a nice idea to use the currentFrame attribute to determine where the animation is and act accordingly.

Here is what I would do:

I would set a variable to true when the character starts attacking
when a key is pressed, I would check if the character is attacking (variable).
If the player is attacking, I would check what frame he is to determine the animation
ex: (10 to 20 = punching)
If the frames match to a moment where a combo is possible, I would tell the MC to play the next move
If the frames do not match, I would do nothing

Also, checking every frame where the animation is could be important. That way you can trigger actions based on where the animation is. One important example is to bring back the player to the "idle" animation when its over and setting the "attacking" variable to false.

If you are wondering why I am not giving you any code, that's because you need to learn to think about what you are doing instead of copy-pasting code.

[Flash Builder] Disable security s Posted September 21st, 2011 in Game Development

Hi there!
I am building a project where I use an external API loaded from the web, and I also load files locally. As I understand it, I cannot load both local and external files without causing a security sandbox error.

Once I open the API it seems to try and listen to mouse events and such, and causes a security sandbox error every single frame.

Its really annoying since I am trying to trace some debug outputs but I can't read them as they get overwhelmed by the error messages.

I know I cannot fix it, but I would simply like to disable these warnings.
Is there any way?

(please don't post solutions to fix the error, I tried all of them)

I just want to disable the messages.

Response to: Animator Needed for serious project Posted May 3rd, 2011 in Game Development

Hi there! Here is the test:

Its pretty simple, you have to animate the units on the right using the same labels as the one on the left.
Try to make the timing not too different from the original units.

We are offering 10$US per unit animated maybe more if you work great.
If you work fast its a good start.
Of course they have to meet our quality standard first.

If we use the units you animated in the test you will be paid for them.
Keep in mind we are in short delays, so we will need you to animate a lot.
There is at least 24 units to animate. However that job might be split if we get many animators.

Flash CS3: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21814820/test_cs 3.fla
Flash CS4: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21814820/test_cs 4.fla

Please use cs4 if you can.

Remember to email me the result.
You don't have to animate them all, but bigger units have to be done so we can see how well you animate.

Regards,
Louissi

Hi there.
First of all, yes, this is paid work. The pay will be fair however I still need to determine how much it will be paid.

So here we go:
I am creating a pretty large game.
Much of the art and programming are done and I amin need of an animator.

My new game has something in common with Age of War 1 and 2 : Evolutions.

That means lots of units and turrets to design and animate.

Most of the units have been designed but they are not animated and we have tight delays: the game has to be done by May 19th.

The task would be to animate pre-drawn units with a number of pre-determined animations.

Animations are all 24 fps.
You cannotuse animated MovieClips inside the animation.
However, Graphicsand single-frame MovieClips are okay.

For ranged units:
- idle
- walk start (idle to walk Loop)
- walk Loop
- attack Melee
- attack Ranged (ground target)
- attack Ranged (air target)
- die

For melee units:
- idle
- walk start (idle to walk Loop)
- walk Loop
- attack Melee
- die

Your name will be in the credits, you will be linked on newgrounds on the project and you will be paid per unit you animate.

I am looking for someone that can animate fast and is reliable.
The first step is to send me an email with your AIM or SKYPE contact, so I can contact you with a small test.

If you are interested, email me at louissi at armorgames dot com.
PUT [ANIM] at the start of the subject of the email.

I won't be responding to PMs because its hard to keep track of conversations on PM.

$$$

Hi! I need a voice actor to make some small sound clips for a arena shooter game I am making. There will be combo indicators like in unreal tournament or other shooter games and other words I need. Here are the voices I need:

Match result:
- Victory
- Defeat

Combos (in order):
- Nice
- Awesome
- Unstoppable!
- Magical!
- God like!
- You are leet
- Aaaaah!
- Too skilled!
- Crazy!
- Please stop!

Misc:
- Your flag has been taken!
- Score!
- Goaaaal!

A boy or a girl, I don't care as long as its good quality. I can't pay you for trying (sending me demo sentences), but I will pay 5$ for any clip I use from you. Payment will be made by paypal around the 27th of December.

DO NOT SEND BY PM.
Send it over my email at louissi@armorgames.com (i can check it more often)

Oh and by the way, I need it today (last minute ftw).

Paid Job and Suggestions for a Game Posted December 16th, 2010 in Audio

Hello!
Armor Mayhem is getting close to completion and I will start adding sounds and music really soon.
Since I believe music is really important, and players are really important, I told myself: "Hey, why not ask the players what music they want in the game?"

So here I am, asking your opinion. If any of you have songs here on the audio portal they really like, its time to link me to them.Obviously, for legal reasons, I can't use any licensed music from your favorite groups.

Also, if you are a music composer and would be interested in composing music for the game, send me an email at louissi@armorgames.com

I can pay you for composing music. (around 50$-100$ for a good track) Send me a demo of what you can do!

If you would like to see what the game looks like, there are some screenshots on my website.
http://www.interactive-pixels.net

I will try to post a game-play videotonight as soon as I can.

You can also look for something called Box2D. Its the best and really easy to use.

Response to: Simple free SWF uploader Posted April 27th, 2009 in Game Development

First of all, sorry. I used to word crap in a bad sense. I just meant to say that the uploader I made does not have the same goal and public as spam the web. Spam the web is a really great website and I respect it. While spam the web is based on its community, upswf is meant to be a tool. A tool to share simply and fast your flash. It is not a community or anything.

So I meant: Its easy and simple, and doesn't have all the "Community and great features" from SpamTheWeb.com you might not need.

As for the design, I think its useless to comment on such objective things.

Thanks to anyone who might want to use my uploader. You files are right now viewable to everyone from the http://upswf.com/files folder, but I will soon make all the files private. I am sure we all want our secret Betas to stay private. So atleast I warned you.

In a month the website will be taken to a next level:
User account (optionnal, but nice to keep track of your files)
Manual Removal of your files (you will need an account)
If your file is not viewed for more than 1 month it will be deleted

Please notice that I also bought the domain name upfla.com, guess what you will be able to upload there? :P

Well, since it is based on the idea that you will eventually submit the file to a real website, ill probably code something that will delete files not viewed since 1 month.

You will not be able to read files from others, since it's not a flash portal but only a tool.

Hosting of .fla is not an option here, but maybe later.
Could you add something that lets you choose whether you want it to be deleted in 1 month or if you want it to stay on? It'd be pretty useful for me and most others too.

The problem is that users may use that tool to upload .swf files and use them on other websites and etc.

upswf is made to show your stuff around forums and etc. When you move on to an other project, the server will delete your file.
