Interesting to say the least.

Can't help but wonder if any straight, lazy people will be using this as an excuse. Because that would be some world class laziness.

I'm leaving the man a viagra, something strong to wash it down with, a rubber and an elf. I mean, damn, Santa flies around the whole world in a night in the cold and snow of December to give a planet full of brats all the stuff they whined for. Its about time someone left -him- a gift.

At 12/7/08 07:34 PM, TheSweetGirl wrote: Well, the English language was originally Latin, so yeah, it's changed a lot.

No, no it wasn't. English was never Latin. There are many words with their roots in the Latinate, but the language itself is a mixture of latinate, Germanic and Dutch.

As for how our language is evolving, or devolving as the case may be- it's just a product of the time and culture we live in. 50 years ago they said 'swell'. Now we say 'woot'. It isn't better or worse, it's just different.

Topic: Does context count?

Posted: 12/07/08 07:48 PM

Forum: Where is / How to?

This is the second time this has happened now: Authors have PM'd me about my reviews, claiming them to be 'too harsh'. The reason for this is because the author had said specifically that it was either their first flash or one that they had only put a limited amount of time into them. But I only reviewed them as I would any other- finding and commenting on the strengths of weaknesses of the submission.

So I wonder: Should I curb my reviews based on the context in which they were submitted?

I actually feel sorry for you, I really do. Going through life without believing in love? That's hardly a way to live. It sounds like you're coming from a place of pain- recent breakup, maybe? But don't give up on love.

Topic: sex a sin?

Posted: 12/07/08 04:44 AM

Forum: General

This is a topic very close to me at the moment. My current girlfriend comes from a religious background and had some very, very conservative views on sex.

Whatever the bible might say, current interpretations of Christianity, which is what I think we're all talking about here, seems to put a dark mark on sex. It's not to be enjoyed, only to be used on procreation. Fun verses from the good book will tell you that it's a sin to copulate out of wedlock, a sin to waste your seed, a sin to cheat, and a sin to be homosexual. So yes, it would seem that this religion views most sexual acts as sinful. Why, I can't tell you.

It probably has something to do with the immense emotional weight of sex. It's as close as you can get to a person- literally and, in my opinion, spiritually. Personally I think it's something not to be done until you know both sides are ready for it. But a 'sin'? Not at all.

The real sin is repressing your thoughts, feelings and desires until they rot inside you. Just ask a Catholic Priest.

Posted: 12/07/08 04:29 AM

Forum: General

Taste, probably. I'm sure that there's someone, at some time or another, who's eaten an animal and said, "Well that tastes awful." And that was the end of it.

Whether or not the animal is inclined to eat you is probably a large factor as well. The reason you can't go and shop for tiger, for example, is because the poor sap who has to go out and try to get the meat may wind up dinner instead. And that's never fun.

Sprained my ankle by leaping from the top of the stairs. I was 5 at the time and was currently worshiping Peter Pan. I had procured a wooden sword and with it placed securely in my belt I was convinced I could fly. With my sister and my cousin cheering my on from the base of the stairs I took a flying leap. Sans the flying part, unfortunately. I landed hard and couldn't support my weight when I tried to get up. A trip to the hospital revealed I'd sprained my ankle. The real surprise was I hadn't broken my leg right out. Lucky me.

So basically, art painted on naked woman... WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN THOUGHT OF BEFORE?

why can't all art be on naked woman :D

It has, actually. In South America lots of celebrations feature women 'dressed' entirely in paint. They're part of the parades, mostly.
And I suppose if you want to be technical you say that tattooing would fall into this category. I've never seen it done with graffiti art before. Very cool.
Are there any specific artists, or what? The site doesn't seem to have much information...

I played it for my guitar teacher and he said that it sounded exactly like a song by Tenacious D - and I had never heard that song before. There's a finite amount of chords and melodies that go with them. Similarities are bound to arise between two songs at some point.

The melodies of the songs in question differ drastically, apart from those three-note riffs at the beginnings of the verses. Who cares.

There's a difference between an amateur musician making a chord and a profession, internationally known band making a song. The professionals have an obligation to know their own trade well enough to respect the IPs of other musician's and artists. And the fact that this isn't the first time Coldplay has been accused of this ebbs my sympathy substantially.

Basically I've viewed a number of movies that invoke a reaction, but not one that I can easily elaborate on. Is it alright to give something a score if I don't have reasons or specific criticism to back that score up?

Not a specific band, but a genre that's been growing on me lately: Techno. I used to dismiss it all as electronic noise, but my sister introduced me to a number of techno songs that I legitimately enjoyed. Not sure what they are, though, actually. Should probably get her to give me the names of those bands/songs.

This is downright... cool. The only real problem I have with smoking is how offensive it is to be around those who do it (of the belief that what you do with yourself is your own business). The idea of having a cigarette without all the cigarette-ness seems like an apt, albeit surprising, technological advance.

Now where are our flying cars, damnit!

Topic: Fat chicks and stupid posts.

Posted: 12/05/08 01:55 AM

Forum: General

At 12/5/08 12:56 AM, Shanaylette wrote: Look, first of all, not that it matters WHAT I say in this post, because right off, 10 people are going to respond with stfus and tits or gtfos. But just so that you know, if you are offended by this post, it's probably because you're the one I'm aiming for.

Seriously, there are some people on here that really have so much growing up to do... You should just hold your tounge until you can realize the way that this universe actually works.

And I'm really sick of these little boys coming on here, talking shit about any girl, like "Oh, you're slightly different than the chicks I masterbate to every night" Seriously, boys, you need to grow the fuck up. You're never going to get a chick that way. I know, sex is fucking awesome, and it is like water and air, and 24/7 is a great great idea, and someday, if fate has it, you'll meet a tight nympho that wants only to please you. But for now... This is the real world, get over it.

And nah, for real, you just cannot comprehend certain levels, so I suppose you cannot be blamed for being society and media's dirty fucking sluts. Do you not realize that this is not reality? Or does it seem that I'm the one in my own little world? You may never catch it, babe. I hope you do though, really.

Go fuck yourselves, consumers. And I don't give a shit if this gets me banned, seriously.
It's a sacrifice that has to be made. haha.

And just to get it out of the way, fuck me, I'm a bitch, I'm a stupid cunt/whore/etc, fat ugly bitch, yeah yeah... So there you go, I've done your job for you, stfu. ^_^

Well it seems you're one of these people who need to do some growing up. It's a damn shame, because I think I agree with you. It's very hard to tell though, because by your combative language any good points you might be making are swallowed up by anger.

You claim that this legion of 'little boys' is nothing more than a group of shallow, narrow minded people who boil all women down into a single entity. Can you see the roaring hypocrisy in this? With statements like "...right off, 10 people are going to respond with stfus and tits or gtfos..." you've already passed judgment on us and closed yourself to any points or counter points we might make.

So, Shanaylette, it doesn't seem that you're 'sacrificing' anything. It seems more you're interested in standing on a soapbox and ranting about what jerks boys are without regard. None of us need this. You're part of the problem.
