For those who've seen (Or played as) Morrigan in Dragon Age, do you think she's hot? There's been talking and debation about whether she is or not.

Me? My vote is yes, but only slightly.

I dunno why, but a shapeshifting girl seems a bit of a turn on for few. Not me however.

Topic: Favorite Video Game - Poll Thread

Posted: 11/27/09 11:24 AM

Forum: Video Games

This is in no order since some I can't decide which I prefer.

- Tekken 6
My favourite fighting game. The graphics are a big improvement, Azazel may be very tricky at times but overall a very fun boss to fight, the customization is great - I haven't seen a single customized character look the same as another, great mix for serious gamers and casual gamers (Some characters even go with their style) and there's so much more that I could say.

- Dragon Age: Origins / Collector's edition
This is a great RPG. Loads of spells, nice storyline, very interesting and you get to fight HUGE dragons. None of the levels are a drag to finish in my opinion, and everything works out amazingly. Again, this is a good game for people who haven't played RPGs before and great for those who love RPGs.

- FIFA 10
This has kind of got me into the football world, but I still prefer rugby. The manager mode is spectacular, the online is great, you can make transfers to any team you like at any time which is sweet, and the matches are pretty cool.

- Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
This is one of my favourite racing games. From a bike to a monster truck, everything is even. No circuit has less than two different routes round a track, the graphics are STUNNING, especially when you drive by the ocean side in Kanaloka Bay, and the whole feel of it makes you feel a part of it at times.

- Midnight Club: Los Angeles
I love Midnight Club. The online is great, the customization is pretty much limitless, the cars all have their own feel to them, the sound of a muscle car (Dodge Challenger especially) being revved sounds awesome, and overall the racing is pretty awesome. Skylines can keep up with S7's often, but the tuning of some cars is insane.

- Fallout 3
A great FPS game. You can choose from loads of different weapons, the enemies vary quite a lot of the time, some places are pretty creepy to venture into, some give you rewards and some just make you feel like you've been robbed. The experience is amazing.

- Smackdown! vs RAW 2010
I know wrestling is something that isn't that good, but the game is great. The finishers trigger a camera angle that turns the background a dark-purpley colour and brings out camera lights flashing which make the finishers even more amazing. The game modes are fun, and the blood effects are pretty good.

- Wipeout HD Fury
Wipeout was an awesome game and still is. Wipeout HD took that further and completely changed the graphics to something even better. Wipeout HD Fury further took that experience further and is probably one of the top five games on the PSN. Some of the circuits are AMAZING.

- Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
This is a game that needs a very powerful computer. If you have one of them, this game will be amazing if you can play it right. The battles look stunning, experimentals are matched up against hordes of tanks or assault bots and the battles can get very interesting, but the nuclear explosions are epic!

- Age of Empires III
One of the best strategy games ever. The mix of resource collecting, along with upgrading, training troops and deploying navies all came together as an awesome experience. For some it'll feel great building a huge empire on a map. The War Chiefs and The Asian Dynasties expansion packs made the game even better.

Every game is pretty much a beta.

Think about it... you get it first, think it's perfect - there's a bug. That gets reported and fixed in a further update, you've helped the developers cure the game... partly. Then another glitch, reported, rinse, lather, repeat.

Forum: Video Games

Dragon Age: Origins is awesome. It involves HUGE dragons (Of course) that you can actually fight, enchanted weapons and armour, some cool magic attacks, and the right kind of enemy difficulty that will make you pause the game to set up tactics.

You start off as either a human, elf or dwarf (You can choose your race when you decide to choose "New Game") and can be one of three classes: A warrior, a mage, or a rogue. Warriors are the kind that people who like slashing 'n' smashing their opponents, while rogues can pick locks and sneak up on their opponents, and mages can... cast spells and can even use their staves as weapons (Although they don't do much damage). Although I haven't seen anything of it yet, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to hold a stave in one hand and a shortsword in another, which will make the mages more effective.

The graphics are pretty neat in some areas and blood sprays onto the characters in combat, but when you see close-ups of some characters, the graphics could be a let down. They do look better on the PC if you have a really good graphics card.

The gameplay is great. You can do a multitude of quests, some giving you lots of bits, silvers and... I've forgotten what the currency for gold is, some get you new items and some can gain you a new party member. There is also downloadable content (Warden's keep worth £5.49 or something around $8) which are pretty good. If you want Shale, a golum, who is a very effective party member, without needing to pay £11.99 ($14?) you can get the Collectors Edition, which actually lets you get the Shale DLC for free, along with another two DLC packs.

Overall, I'd say the game get's a 9/10. It's got a multitude of things to do, a lot of talents and spells for each character, and if you have a good graphics card for the PC the graphics aren't bad. Since I first played this game, I'm now into ancient times, knights, dragons and enchanted stuff.

P.S: There are a couple of places in the speeches where a character says something that's completely off-topic. It is rare.

I would have a look at how Supreme Commander pretty much forces you to use every unit available to you.

And it makes experimentals after a while seem like another normal infantry unit - FOR ME, it'd be a game that really makes you focus on your strategies and that if you have a major flaw in it then you get yourself owned... something that you can gradually learn from and know you can learn form it so you can then improve on it and end up winning 50/50 (I don't like being able to win all the time... it spoils it a lot) Games like Tekken 6 teach me pretty much what to do all the time against some awesome player.

But, keep it simple.

Saying that, all of this was pointless now. Bah, I'll leave it up.

Topic: Tekken 6 bosses are sooooo cheap...

Posted: 11/05/09 12:50 PM

Forum: Video Games

Tekken 6 has three RIDICULOUS bosses (Well, one is a mini boss):

Nancy MI847J - Every move you do on the robot does little damage (even the unblockable attacks) and it can launch rockets that can only be sidestepped leaving you open for one of it's attack. it also extends it neck now and then and literally creates a hole in the floor that you have to avoid until the floor repairs (If you step onto it you lose... and fail at the same time). And the worst part is that it has a Vulcan cannon - It cannot be blocked and I don't know how to dodge it yet. THE GOOD THINGS are that if you fo a big hit on it while it is preparing an attack it is likely it will temporarily malfunction, leaving it open to some heavy attacks. The other thing is that you don't need to beat it (you can still lose and go to the next round... it's a bonus boss) Google image it and check out a couple of vids of it on youtube. DO NOT underestimate it because it has "Nancy" as a name.

Now for Jin (Mini-boss) - Although he's pretty much like a normal character, the bad thing is he starts EVERY round off in "rage" mode. For those who don't know, this is when his attacks deal more damage than usual and his feet and hands glow red (It looks cool if you have a character being spun around in this condition... a bit like fireworks) unless you're Tekken god rank (Meaning he'll be the same level as you) He will always be in a far higher rank than you. So if you're a Raijin (like I am) he will be a Tekken Lord (Second-best rank I think) and he'll be near-impossible. THE GOOD THINGS are that he is pretty much like an average round 5-6 fight and if you don't let him pull of his combos you're safe. And he can be grabbed.

And finally Azazel - He's about the same size as Nancy. He is more annoying however because you MUST beat him in order to finish Arcade Mode. It's about a 40% chance you'll be able to knock him back or in the air while he does an attack (and this the fucking rediculous bit) - He can grab you, but you can't grab him. Unlike Nancy where it just pulls off strong attacks (There's a move he does where he hits you once, and even if you try to block it he pretty much smashes you ten feet away... it is a cheap move) he is just plain rediculous. THE GOOD THINGS are that he can be knocked back, juggled, AND he is a larger target to hit, so you can pull of more powerful moves in the middle of combos (I love playing as King and drop-kicking him as he lies down)

So I'd definitely get Tekken 6, but just be ready to get extremely frustrated if it takes you 50 minutes to beat Azazel (as what happened with me before)

Another good thing about Azazel - You may sometimes/rarely fight him when he's in a gold form. Although he does have the same moves and still stays in the same form if you ever lose to him, you can win 2'000'000 G off of him in his gold for instead of 10'000.

And if anyone has beaten Nancy... please share what it is that you win.

Posted: 10/30/09 06:10 PM

Face it, everyone in their life is gonna be full of a dark moment and you won't be strong enough to be able to break out of it. Whether it's needing someone to help you with homework or someone who'll give away their pride for us, we all need a hero.

Some want Button to stop Webber from winning the grand prix (I know I do, but he's won now). He's a hero for a lot of people. Obama is a soon-to-be hero and may stop pollution and war in the world.

But I think one day there's gonna be a huge pandemic in all of our lives that none of us Newgrounders or a lot of other people will be able to cope with. (I know it's stupid but) there could be someone on a worldwide killing spree and cannot be put down by even the strongest man in the world.

But think, If you're in a huge crisis and you know you're too weak to do anything about it, who would save you?

And if you're wondering, listening to Hero - Skillet made me think of this. I love that song.

I know some of you will say "Oh, Tekken..." Or "Meh, I'm sticking to Street Fighter IV" but for me this is gonna be a big release. Unlike Smackdown! vs RAW 2010 or FIFA 10 where there won't be much difference at first glance, there's gonna be a whole difference.

- Six more characters
- Hugely in-depth customization
- Greatly improved graphics
- Scenario campaign mode (Arcade, Survival etc. will still be in there)
- New story for every character
- New "Bounce" system - Downward strikes on mid-air opponents bounces them back up to make juggling more flexible and easy.- Item moves (Steve Fox's looks like a Shoryuken)
- New moves for some/most characters
- Two bosses that cannot be grappled (And don't let the huge robot's name fool you... It's huge)
- Destructible environments (as in you can blast an opponent through a wall or a floor. Nice!)
- Biggest Tekken character roster yet
- (Hopefully) Improved online fighting (Unlike Tekken 5: DR where the lag was unbearable)

So I'll be getting my copy tomorrow! What's your view on this?
