I don't exactly believe what you are a talking about, but I do agree that women don't want to be seen as equals, just not be seen as stereotypes. Unfortunately, as long as women keep living up to stereotypes and dressing like whores, this isn't going to happen.

<sarcasm/truth>We like being different, we use our tits and ass to manipulate men. Why would we want to jeopardize that?</sarcasm/truth>

On a more serious note, I find it strange that it's okay for men to like lesbian porn and girls say "Well duh, guys like girls on girls". However, if a girl were to say to another girl "Gay porn is so hot" they'd be looked at as either a lesbian and just plain gross. I've seen it more with girls than I've seen it with men.

here's some reasons:
1. You call yourself america, though you don't even have a third of the continents people or landsize.

We may be guilty of that sometimes, but that's because other countries refer to us as "stupid Americans". It caught on.

2. USA refer europe many times as a single country, often even as a single place.

That's pretty fucking unfair. I don't remember referring to europe as a single country. You think Americans are that stupid? You are pretty naive my friend. Any smart American knows that Europe is a continent, not a single country. We do go to school here.

3. All stupid wars.

That's pretty fucking stupid. We aren't the only country to get involved in a stupid war.

4. the fact that america has couped many democraticly chosen leaders becouse they were left-wing.

Um...okay?

5. All stupid hollywood crap.

Yet people for other countries except the hollywood crap and get excited when a celebrity visits their country. You must have living under a rock for the last couple of decades.

6. the very annoying patriotism.

I guess if we are proud our country, it makes us douchebags. You're argument is getting more idiotic by the second.

7. the fact that USA:s citizens think their ancestors invented democracy and all freedoms it gives.

We know where how the States were originally founded. That's because we don't originate from here but from Europe. So yes, our ancestors did invent democracy and all freedom.

8. All stupid mainstream crap music.

Oh give me a fucking break. This is mainstream music that Europeans and other people from other countries listen to. Cut the bullshit. The music industry gets as much money for foreign countries as they do the States. Not to mention that the UK itself is responsible for the demon spawns that are known as the Spice Girls. I wasted my life for three years listening. THREE FUCKING YEARS!

9. The extreme ignorance of other countries and cultures.

Possiblity. But including the whole population of the US in that statement is pretty close-minded. If you notice, the US itself is a muddle. We have all different cultures and religions that migrate here ever so often. It's impossible to be extremely ignorant about other countries and cultures when other cultures are so apparent here. Some stupid bigots like white and black nationalists may think that way.

10. the fact that USA produces 55% of all air pollution.

This is first time I've heard of this. Where do you get your information from?

Not saying nothing good comes from america, love Burger king!

Actually, Burger King is one of the bad things about the United States. And you made a mistake in saying America. Don't you mean US?

I might as well start describing the Nielsen-Bohr atomic model, or start quoting one gospel or the other. The ten commandments don't have anything to do with evolution, or creation for that matter.

Someone used the ten commandments as an attempt to make me feel stupid (I suppose either someone who just joined the conversation) and they completely failed it. And they gave me a lecture on how god wouldn't appreciate me saying those words (mockingly). Bringing the ten commandments into a conversation because someone who considers themselves Christian said "GODDAMN" or "FUCK" is not only a stupid attempt at a low blow, it completely leads away from the argument at hand. Someone cursing and the ten commandments as Togukawa mentioned, is not directly related to Creation or Evolution.

To just basically cop out this thing, the old testament itself shouldn't be a guide one minute and shouldn't be picked apart only when it's convient. This is why anything in the old testament is completely ignored due to the new one. This is why we classify the religion Christianity as Christianity. Everything that the son of God, Jesus, preached and talked about in the New Testament is how Christianity supposedly began. Christianity didn't begin when Moses got the ten commandments. It began after a disciple of Jesus decided to go off and bring a new belief group together over the many years after his death. Some "Christians" like to focus in completely on the Old Testament. With this move, they might as well convert to Judism. This is why the torah is based off of most parts of the Old Testament.

So if you are going to immaturely decide to mock Christian religion and take parts of the bible to therefore "enforce" your argument, at least do it from the New Testament. I'd advise you not to even bring up The Bible argument with me, because I will say it again: The Bible has been written, re-written, edited (although it says clearly not to do this), and mostly re-written again by man. It's lost it's credibility as the word of God a long time ago.

The reason I post this thread is to tell an interesting fact about Hillary's not-discussed college years. No, this isn't some mudslinging anecdote, its a valid fact.

Hillary Clinton (then known as Hillary Rodham) attended Wellsley College, a girls school in New Hampshire. Wellsley College requires a Thesis project from every student in order to graduate. Failure to do so means no diploma. It is also a policy that every thesis ever submitted will be open to access in the school archives.

Here's where it gets strange. You cannot find Hillary's thesis. She definitely did one, but you cannot find it in the archives. You can find everybody elses' theses, but not Hillary's. I wonder why......

I have my own theory about this odd fact, but I will reserve it until this thread has progressed somewhat.

FYI, I don't want anybody responding with dumbass answers like "maybe it was lost" or "maybe she really didn't do one."

I'm being serious when I say this sounds like the classic cover-up. She could have possibly wrote something so offense or so off that something was done by either the secret service and her own resources. It could have possibly been covered up after Bill Clinton was elected for office, way before she started getting as immensely involved as she is in politics. Maybe she took some action when she realized that one day she might run for president and anything that could seriously damage her credibility as just that.

Maybe it was a negative thesis on homosexuals? She seems to be extremely involved with gay rights now and I don't remember her ever even caring about it until maybe one of two years ago.

Response to: Understanding evolution... Posted August 30th, 2006 in Politics

I would really appreciate it if everyone would leave me be at this point in this topic. I'm getting really annoyed because everyone is repeating the same thing over and over and over again, when I have stated over and over and over again that I completely understand and I'm not some drooling idiot.

I'm sick and tired of being quoted from in a negative insulting way when I never attacked one person before I was insulted. It's getting to the point where I'm told "you weren't attacked because you believe you were Christian" Yet I get statements like "You're ignorant" and "Oh look at the stupid Christian that just broke one the commandments" . You all get angry and frustrated me because I say (and I quote):

* Both the creation theory and evolution theory has holes.

*Scientific theories have some solid valid points and facts.

* The bible is an incomplete and unbelievable book written a thousand years ago by man and man alone, therefore can not be referred to as "Word of God".

* Scientists have been known to make very incorrect theories as well as new ones

*In my post, when I apologize to KingCharles, I admit that I was wrong in my outburst and that I was a bit naive about science because I'm more interested in art.

*Christians shouldn't be insulted because of something they believe in, no matter how irrational it may sound to you

When I made the last statement, this is all you zero in on. Forget my other statements about the debate. I chose to remain objective and when I didn't choose a side I was shot down. I keep getting told the theories have been proven. Here is are different definitions on theories for people who seem to misunderstand

the·o·ry n
1. the body of rules, ideas, principles, and techniques that applies to a particular subject, especially when seen as distinct from actual "practice"
2. abstract "thought" or "contemplation"
3. an idea of or belief about something arrived at through "speculation" or "conjecture"
4. a set of circumstances or principles that is "hypothetical"
5. a set of facts, propositions, or principles "analyzed" in their relation to one another and used, especially in science, to explain phenomena

Notice that I have quoted words that associates with thoughts and practicing. You can have a set of facts in a theory and still be completely wrong about it. I'm not entirely ruling out the possibility of Evolution, I just said I don't fully believe in it because of the holes it contains. I mentioned the Big Bang as an example that many atheists use as well and that it, itself, just like Evolution, has many proven facts and principles within it, but is still not a proven fact within itself. I don't like the idea of being derived from an ape or being referred to as. Personally, I've been called one before because of my skin color (half-black) and this is another reason why I am even more unsure about the theory of Evolution.

When I include the thought of theories, I also mean Christian theories. Now let me give my view on creationism, so you won't think I'm completely against science (as I've been accused of). Creationism has way more holes in than Evolution due to the fact that the theory itself was taken from the Christian Bible and never scientifically proven. It seems more like a fairy tale and many Catholics and Christians (including the Pope, as a poster so dearly pointed out in the page before this) have also realized that Evolution can be a possibility. Being made out of clay just isn't cutting it anymore. That doesn't mean I can't hold on to small ounce of me that believes that there is possibly a higher being out there that might have actually acheived this impossible feat. Call me unrealistic, yes. But I like the possiblity of heaven and hell. False hope or not, it's hope that keeps me going and always have. I find spiritual peace and comfort in this. Is it so wrong, as long as I don't put down other people for who there are and try remain a decent person?

I don't like to see skin color and get made fun of by family members for doing so (instead of my mother). I don't see why gays can't married because they deserve love. I don't understand why people make such a big deal out of curse words that usually just slips of the tongues. And I don't understand why I'm being judged because of my religion. Aren't Christians accused of doing the same thing?

Point being: You've made a good argument, but harassing me more is not going to solve anything.

Peace out doods!

Oh please, this wasn't about one stupid racist scientist. There was no "trying to pass on beliefs" that had already been set for years before. These were theories that were praised by most of the scientific community before the mid-1900's. This wasn't viewed as racism, it was viewed as "naturally and scientifically true". This was mostly because of what they were raised and taught to think. They strongly believed in these theories and facts about superiority of the white race and inferiority to other races. They have done studies and research on how these races were genetically inferior based purely on their opinions. I was trying to point out the scientific studies aren't always to be trusted. I suppose you're going to accuse me of being a black person who calls every white person racist? These studies weren't just on blacks, they were on hispanics and other non-white cultures.

I just think people like to naturally attack people that don't believe everything science has to say on the world. I'll say it again: I would be quoted and picked apart if I would have taken the side of Draconian instead of trying to remain objective (until the very end). If I'm going to be viewed as an idiot for being different and having an open mind towards the possibility that Evolution is only one theory from science and that there might actually be others that haven't been discovered as of yet, than I'm a stone idiot.

To tell you the truth, it would probably be a problem because then it would be a black man and a white man fighting. People would be just as offended (in the wrong way). If men were put in this ad with their fists and their shirts off while they sweat and wrestle on the ground, it would be just as sexist (in my opinion).1

2) Why is it two women (!?!) in black and white and not just the video game system itself?
Why does any advert have anything other than the product itself? What's wrong with having women in adverts?

Why can't it be about the product itself? This could have been done different and lot better (I think expertly drawn black and white dragons would have been a lot more nicer looking). It's bad taste not only because of the positions the women are in, but also because Sony wanted people to either be offended or intrigued by its racy imagery.

I understand the ying and yang thing are trying to get across. The pictures are beautiful taken. But I can't get it out of my mind how both men and women are used in such stereotypical view. If the women would be in different fighting poses (without their hands in a claw position) and the "white psp" was dressed a little bit more approriately, then I wouldn't see a big problem with it.

Too many different religions. I've also seen a couple of Muslims get angry about people making fun of their religion. Muslims take their religion much more seriously than others. If a holy war is called out in US, you can expect some major shit to start happening.
I would like to point out that you are wrong in saying that, “Muslims take their religion much more seriously than others.” There are people of every religion who take their religion extremely seriously. There may be a larger number of Muslims who fall into this category (in part due to the size of Islam in the world), and more visibly, but they are by far not the only religious people on the planet.

I don't doubt that every religion has extremely serious religious followers. But in the point of Muslims, they have a lot of pent up anger about the way the US views their religion. Plus, let's not forget that if a holy war is called on upon any country that Muslims don't ignore this. This is dangerous. I'm not downgrading the Muslim religion or any other religion, but too many times have I seen the US media make Iraq look like an disgusting uncivilized country where people burn American flags. People assume from an outside point of view that the US isn't respectable of any religion (except for maybe Christianity). I

And I'm the one to blame and the American people are the one to blame that our government does messed up shit? Do you think we agree with it? Like we have a choice in what our government? YOU need to stop blaming AMERICANS for things OUR GOVERNMENT does.
Sadly, in the perfect democracy, an American would be able to say proudly that his government accurately represents him and his wishes.

Thank you. I'm sick of tired about people viewing American people as rednecks. They forget that being of country of a lot of different beliefs and cultures means that everyone thinks different. And they speak about us being close-minded.

Here's the other one.

Why it might be considered as sexist?

1) Catfight
2) Why is it two women (!?!) in black and white and not just the video game system itself?

I really hope you aren't referring to me posting this post about "Americans making this a big deal". It's been real controversial this week and I was just wondering what everyone thought of the ads personally.

I think I asked to "keep the conversation civil". Attacking Americans (again) is not only unfair, it's really stupid.
