Use one of your samplers - either of the NN's will help you with this. The 19 and the XT have slightly different options and setting but either will work.

Sheesh! NI takes their sweet-ass time to process and ship, don't they?

I've owned most of the included apps for years but Battery and Absynth are new for me. So far, I'm quite happy with both of them. The package takes several hours and about 70GB to install but aside from any logistical bumps involved with shipping and the anticipation of eagerly waiting to swap DVD's, once it's up and running, the entire suite is made of 100% win.

Imagine, if you will, having a seriously mentally disabled child.
I'm talking full on autism, a touch of schizophrenia and a li'l splash of paranoid delusion on top of a staggeringly deficient IQ.

Let's continue even further along our imaginary path to the day when your kid decides s/he wants to be a theoretical physicist. In the interest of your child's happiness, you might even encourage and support this fantasy with a pat on the head and the occasional "WOW! you sure are smart..."

-=5=-

Even though you will never take this pursuit seriously, you would probably still love this fucked up kid just the same.

Welcome to the AP...

The musical aspect may be fun, but let's not pretend that the AP is a serious forum for those on a path to a career in music.

I see it as more of a safe place to try a few new things and get some feedback from a few like (and as many more not so like) minds. More along the lines of a weekend play/jam session at a friends house than a determined session in a studio.

Take it all with a pound of salt and keep in mind that my opinion along with $2.50 might get me a cup of coffee.

The most important question is: What is your budget?

If you say "I'm looking for the very bestest, super-pro stuff available and it has to be free" then you'll really leave me no choice but to come to your house and kick you in the prostate.

If you're broke and you want some freebie VST(i)'s then click my sig. I have a few zips posted out there with a bunchafreeshite - it's in a newspost.

If you have some cash that you're willing to invest, then do one of two things. Either click my sig, download the free shit and mail me a check. OR Go buy NI komplete.

Hey J,

What's the end product here? Are you looking for something that will suffice for a little Flash animation VO work or are you looking for pro studio gear?

I'm certain that several people here will disagree but unless you are dealing with a broadcast network, you can usually get by on low to mid range equipment. I work with many pro voice over artists and a lot of them are using pretty basic stuff like USB snowball mics and even generic headset mics.

If you use XLR mics, you might want to look into a separate audio interface. I have a Tascam FireOne which is great for recording. They have been discontinued but there are plenty of similar devices out there. You might want to browse a few music shops and test drive some equipment before you make a large purchase.

Do you know of any VST(i) with industrial effects/sounds, like the ones at the beginning of this song?

Truly Free and awesome stuff - visit my profile - I have a few files there that are just jam packed with some of the very best freebies around. A whole assortment of apps, instruments and effects.

As for the "industrial" sound - most synths are capable of producing what you're looking for, it's just a matter of tweaking a few settings until it sounds right. Try adding a little distortion to your synths and see what happens. My advice would be to start with the plugins.zip on my page and play around with those...

Well - that's your problem right there...

you need to change your export settings - use MP3 compression - start out at about 64kbps/fast and then from there, adjust as needed...
The quality will be lower but that's the trade=off that you'll need to find a way to live with...

My question to you is - why are you submitting something if you don't know how to use flash?

Topic: Using Acid As A Sequencer

Bleh... Acid music studio... That's the low end version... OK so you've added a VST - that's great. Now you'll need to create a MIDI track and feed that data into the VST that you've loaded.

To add a MIDI track, either right click anywhere and click "Insert MIDI track" or just press (Ctrl+Alt+Q).

Next - on your new track you'll see a little icon that looks like a keyboard with a number beneath it (the MIDI output) - click that ison and select the VST that you loaded as well as the channel to send data to (usually 1)

Now use your draw tool (Ctrl+D - icon looks like a pencil) and drag out a new MIDI clip.

Enable inline MIDI editing by pressing the "G" key

Use your mouse to adjust the size of the track and add your notes...

Acid is, in my opinion, a great sequencer. Once you get the hang of creating tracks, loading VSTs and routing MIDI to your instruments, you can start experimenting a bit with modulation - in addition to note data, you can also add envelopes for pretty much anything you like - things like Volume, pitch bend, aftertouch, program changes, etc. etc.

If you REALLY need some help - just PM me with specific questions and I'll tell you what you need to know... Please keep in mind that I use Acid Pro - the express version is probably similar but it may lack certain functions that I'm describing.

Read the post and follow my 2 simple rules - then download those files unzip everything, browse through it and set up a completely free DAW that will allow you to create whatever style of music that you like.

If you have any problems, either leave a comment or PM me and I'll help you get set up.

Hell, IMO, the manual routing options available in Reason are one of the best features of the program.

Maybe I don't understand your question but I don't see a down side to routing your outputs manually. Once you starts playing around with that, it opens up so many really cool possibilities.

You could route each channel of ReDrum to separate effects (or none at all) Use your kicks for sidechaining, run your snares through a spider then out into a couple of stereo imagers to split the siganlal so that you can use two DDL-1s to set up separate delays for the low frequencies and the high ones.
I mean... that's just a quick example off the top of my head... I'm sure you can come up with plenty of other really cool little tricks that will help make your tracks stand out or define your personal style.

The only thing that I can guarantee is that none of that will happen automatically - so once again, I'm left wondering what the problem with manual routing is?
