Response to: Best Thing That You Ever Programmed Posted August 23rd, 2004 in Programming

Back when win98 was out I made a windows shell using VB. Full featured and what not. I gave up on it when Win2k came out because I needed to start handling the advanced options of the OS, but at the same time let it work with win98 and 95. I lost the source to it about 2 or 3 years ago when the hard drive in my laptop died.

Lost a massive amount or code, and graphics files. I thought I had backed it up but, but it looks like I did'nt.

The only reason I made it was because someone told me it that it was impossible to make a Windows Shell with VB, I proved him wrong lol

Response to: Fedora Project Posted August 23rd, 2004 in Programming

I actualy hate Fedora, it won't run on anything I put it on. On those same machines I can run older copies of red hat, suse 9, mandrake, etc.

However Fedora just don't run, same thing with my friends, nothing but bad experiances with it. Work on driver compatability issues first, those seem to be the problem that I am having. Nothing seems to work with it.

I need some opinions Posted August 23rd, 2004 in Programming

I added a developer section to my forum I was wondering if I might be missing any key programing languages. I think I got them all but I am probably missing a couple. So hopefully someone would be kind enough to point them out for me.

Also I was hoping for some people to perhaps sign up and post a few topics to get it started, or maybe give me their feedback as far as what they think of the current categories (Good, Bad, Too generic, etc).

The forum can be found at www.defcon-5.com/forum/forum/

I appreciate any constructive feedback that you provide

Response to: I want your opinion! Posted July 31st, 2004 in General

Beleive it or not we only planned one episode out (the topics) and we realy hated it. We pretty much do everything in one take (unless we forget the record button or some weird background noise occurs).

In the begining it was my friend and his room mate, then I jumped on (so some episodes have the three of us) when he moved to a new appartment is turned into just me and him doing the show.

Response to: Exp. \ Who still does it ? Posted July 31st, 2004 in General

I still do the old exp, I just have'nt been visiting NG everyday either like I used to. It was about every month or so I would go up a level or two. There are hidden areas of NG that are for higher level members, but nothing too great that I know of.

Response to: I want your opinion! Posted July 31st, 2004 in General

What about it sucks, I want to improve it so I need to know what's wrong. I know the site layout is crap, but what about the show is it that sucks? I seriously just want to know so I can fix it.

If you think we have terrible radio voices tell us, it's not like you're going to hurt our feelings lol.

Response to: I want your opinion! Posted July 31st, 2004 in General

I know the site layout is total crap, we have been meaning to fix that but as far as the content of the shows go that's what I am interested the most in.

I would hate to be wasting my time doing a show that no one likes or wants to listen to.

I want your opinion! Posted July 30th, 2004 in General

That's right I am here to ask you the people your opinion! (Sounds like some kinda ad lol) Anyway seriously I was wondering what all you all think about my radio show ( www.thenocradio.com ) we don't get alot of feedback from our listeners, and I figured newgrounds would be the best place to ask considering all the reviewers here.

So what I am asking for specifically is this:
1 do you think our topics are good, if not any suggestions for better topics.
2 Are we funny, we try to not make it dull and boring, so that's kind of important to us.

and of course any other comments you might have.

Response to: Graphics Pad Posted July 28th, 2004 in General

I have a wacom tablet (www.wacom.com) very good if you do alot of drawing and editing. If you try and do alot of drawing and picture editing with a mouse your hand will hurt, plus it's harder to control. The tablet will give you alot better control over your editing once you get used to it.

Another important thing to note is that you need to make sure you get a decent sized tablet. If you get one too small it's a waste of money. In this case bigger is definately better, the only problem is where are you going to put it.

As long as you have a good sized area to place the tablet and use it your fine. Don't buy one from circuit city or best buy because they will try and sell you the cheap POS ones that are a waste of money. I have to recommend wacom.

Response to: The Democratic National Convention Posted July 28th, 2004 in General

From what I hear they had some kind of wireless network setup there for the event. I'm surprised no one hacked it and messed up the event. Given that would have been kinda funny.

I would agree with you except that the reviews are done by different users registered at different times, and in the other thread that I pointed out earlier someone said that they did'nt leave a review. I also don't know of how a data abnormality like that could occur unless it was intentional, as there would need to be some kind of a loop, and a random picking of user id numbers, which I think posting a review would not do...

In this case it is'nt a problem with reviews it's a problem with malicious flash being submitted.

Response to: How do I report this? Posted December 2nd, 2003 in General

I'm a bit surprised he did'nt try to do the same thing except with the voting system, however I think that assigns a random ID number when you open up the movie info screen so that number gets passed along with your vote, and all NG has to do is check that number to make sure it was assigned, and is valid.

I think if that concept was taken and applied to the reviews that would stop this problem.

After reading http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=98952

I agree it is definately related, I'm going to send an email to wade about this now, I figured there was some other kinda formal channel for this type of stuff...

Thanks!

How do I report this? Posted December 2nd, 2003 in General

I was going to view a submission, however by the time I got to it it was blamed, the thing that is interesting is if you read the reviews for it.

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=138267

Almost all of them are identical, however done by a "different" person.

How would I report this to have someone look at it because it seems suspicious to me...

Un fortunately though they did meantion that they have alternate domains, so it's just a matter of time before they lose those as well. Hopefully someone will buy that domain name, and get rid of them forever!

Something I found amusing Posted May 7th, 2003 in General

This was a message I got from outwar

"Outwar Players,

If you can not get to Outwar.com please read this:

Outwar.com domain was dropped by our domain name registrar Godaddy.com, we are in process of transferring the domain name to Network Solutions."

I stoped playing outwar after I relized there is no other way to gain power, or points other than forcing people to click your "secret link" I found this rather amusing because it seems that even their domain registrar might have a problem with them. What do you think?

You know what I think would be cool? Have an "idea portal" or something, where people throw out suggestions and whatnot, and we could vote on those for what is hot and what is not, or have a place/list of freelance artists looking to team up with someone with an idea, get some collaboration started in here big time :)
I had the same idea but it just gets too full. The audio portal and the flash portal are already huge. Adding more would just become messy. But if he were to make it, I think artists should be able to mark an idea they like and use so other artists see it's already being done and try to find another idea.

I made this suggestion earlier as well, a suggestion portal is a great Idea if there was a suggestion of the day. I do agree though that it would get filled up, alot with 20 different people making 20 different suggestions of "make a porn". So maybe there could be moderator's, or admin's kinda like the BBS to remove stuff like that, or just do a keyword filter (last resort because they can be worked around). Another thing that could be done is that at the end of the day every suggestion under lets say the top 20 or something like that is removed from the suggestion portal to save space, and simplify it.

I wonder if tom has even read this topic since I spoke of this, or if he stopped because of all the make pico2 NOW jerks...

I would realy like to hear his opinion on this idea of a suggestion portal

You want a popularity scam?!? Outwar is the biggest one of all.

You run around, place your links on every web site you can find, and send out email's to trick people to trick people to click the damn link. It's not right!

Outwar would'nt be so damn bad if it did'nt force you to do it to "gain a level".

I made a slightly similar suggestion (see my previous posts here), I think it would be cool to challenge the flash artists of this site, I also think it would be cool to see the different variations of the piece. I don't know if tom read my post yet or not... hmmm
