I'm just putting this in here because I think that the painting represents a significant improvement over my previous attempts at shading. Even though it's for the Friday Flood.

Response to: Flood the Portal Fridays! Posted September 26th, 2010 in Art

PLEASE DISREGARD MY SHITTY PICTURE I WAS ONLY TRYING TO HELP D:

But seriously, great pictures, y'all. I hope that I can submit my pic on the right time - having some major internet troubles. I would have submitted this a good 12 hours ago, under different circumstances.

Also, couldn't help but think how alike to CHOW this was, except with a lot more lulz.

Response to: Lintire's Art String Posted September 25th, 2010 in Art

Well, some more shading practice, except this time with a picture that has a lot more effort put into it. I still have no real idea what the hell it is that I'm doing, so does anyone have any links to any quick tutorials on how to actually digitally paint? It'd be much appreciated.

I also have a new signature. I love my neon :3

Response to: Hentai ads on old NG? Posted September 24th, 2010 in General

If I remember right, Tom had to resort to using porn ads in the first place due to lousy server issues, but managed to wipe them out a few years ago - he never really wanted to use them in the first place, but I have to say I'd prefer a site with porn ads plastered all over the BBS then AQ ads when the family is around.

Response to: Bears should be god damn respected! Posted September 24th, 2010 in General

Bears are animals, creatures incapable of sentient thought, which really classifies them as animals. Humans are everything in nature that worth being bundled into a fun sized package with opposable thumbs, and we have the shotguns. Since they don't make good props for a table, then the logical conclusion is to use them to shoot bears.

Really, don't care.

Response to: Oh great...it's F*cking madness day Posted September 24th, 2010 in General

Have hope! I'm sure that out there, hiding under a rock with the bears and the socks, is a user who will in fact care less about your opinion then the rest of us. Keep searching, young jedi, and have hope. The rest of us, on the other hand, may love or hate Madness Day, but at least topics aren't made simply to bitch about it.

I like Madness Day. Lots of death. The kind of thing that makes me... happy.

Don't worry, man, I wasn't looking for instant fame - just ideas for a signature that is recognizable, not one where we you see it and go "ZOMG IT'S THAT GUY". I just got bored of my old signature and wanted a new one, and I've done that - by putting in recognizable elements and simple text, to say. I'll be sticking with option 1, I've no real desire to gain massive internet popularity, but it's always nice to get recognized.

Being remembered, on the other hand, will take a while and I'm willing to put in the time and effort to produce semi-good posts to achieve that memorability.

That's probably why I didn't like my original signature - it was too damn small. Fun-sized, but in the end the sort of thing I'd find easy to skim over.

I played the game before the medals came out and managed to get to about level 50, but quit. Then realized that they had added medals, came back, but only managed to get to about level 30-35. I was toast without my turrets :3

Yes I read the OP. And why do you care about something so pointless?

My agenda is none of your concern. Needless to say that it is shallow and mostly concerns comparing my methods of identifying a user against everyone else's and seeing if the communal involvement of people is on the same level. Which it appears to be.

So why not contribute? This thread is pretty full of fail right now.

Anyway, I've decided on a picture-based signature with a little neon in it. nothing that'll magically gather attention, but the type that after extensive usage becomes recognizable. At the very least it's better drawn the my current signature.

Thanks for the input, Lorkas. The rest of you, I hate to break it to you, but I wasn't actually interested in how memorable you thought you were. I was interested in what traits you used to identify a user.

Sorry for the confusion

This has gone on long enough - I'm pretty sure that you've purposely violated every expectation in the art Forum to date, everything from trying to get photography into the portal, to multiple art threads with crappy art, and even going so far as to defending it with politely offended tones.

Who's alt are you? I'm calling you out. Who's punking us?

As for recognition, I have no idea. Just keep making threads.

As far as I know, only about three or four people remember me on this site.

I'm pretty sure that recognition is a fleeting and hollow thing - you take the time to get it, and you won't feel any different. It's an empty achievement. However, any extra notice is always a good thing to get - and it does appear that picture-esque sigs seems to attract more attention.
Because I sure as hell remember yours.

As always, the bottom few paragraphs are the relevant bits for people who don't want a TL;DR. This is not a circlejerk thread. Go figure.
I actually used the search bar on this, didn't really come up with anything like this, and decided to go ahead with it anyway. Probably the lamest thread I've ever created, but thought it was an interesting question.

Anyway, and I was wondering, that as I read through the BBS I don't pay attention to a lot of people -in fact I tend to skip over them entirely. I read the comments and then continue, myself, but i have stopped for a few, and I'm wanting to know what makes a user recognizable in NG.

Now, obviously, a signature has a lot to do with it - where most people tend to ignore the stats to the left of the screen, as they don't really give a clear indication of what the comment is going to be like (the comment itself does that), but seeing the same signature a few times in a row will usually draw my eye - I'm interested in seeing other people post on general, it's a good time-waster to flick through profiles. It's safe to say that if you haven't got a signature for people to identify you by, then you're pretty doomed.

But here I am, looking at my signature, and deciding that it needs to change - it no longer reflects my sig-making or drawing skills and in my eyes, isn't particularly noticeable. It's dark, gloomy, and lacks any real eye-drawing qualities. when you make a sig, you want it to draw the eye - you want it to be noticed.

So I'm going to ask you guys - what, for you, makes a user noticeable? How do you notice a user, and if it is my a signature (whether it be the comments or the picture) what of that makes you look at them twice? Is it the brightness, the humour, the repetitive nature that they come up in?

If you identify a user by their comments, do you read long or short posts more? Or do you skim everything entirely just to +1 your post count? How would a user attract your eyes?

After 2000 posts, and a few months on the boards, I'm ready to change my image. Just asking your thoughts so I don't end up making an even worse posting-image.

Response to: how did your username come to be? Posted September 24th, 2010 in General

Lintire - it took me a while to remember how I actually came up with this name, it seems less interesting every time I retell the story, and it was pretty boring to begin with.

After a few internet usernames, I got tired of one aspect - my username was always taken, never original, a complete load of bullcrap - namely, Nitecreeper and Pixel. I had a few RP characters that I used Calactuar and Morkas, or some stupid bullshit like that, and I remembered that the way that I came up with those decently original nicknames was that they were altered anagrams of words.

So I decided to use a word that I liked and go from there. I want to use a word that described the internet and it's omnipotent nature - entirely. With a little minor tweaking, that became Lintire, and I've used it ever since, although it does turn out that I share the name with a Taiwanese Tire Manufacturing company.

Neither were exactly barf-fests for me - in fact, I couldn't care less, scat has never affected me, fullstop. I wouldn't say that it beats 2girls1cup. simply because most people would screw off from the video once they saw the priest's tiny dick.

Just tell her to use In-Private browsing next time, so you can at least pretend that she isn't using his damn computer for that - while there's no problem with the porn itself, I can see why it would be awkward, other people using your computer for porn.

And who the fuck uses Yahoo?

Response to: How Dare You Hold An Opinion?! Posted September 24th, 2010 in General

I form my own opinions to express my style of thinking and to avoid by affected, at least overly so, by others modes of thinking. I don't tend to force it on other people, I either question their points or I find reason to defend mine (see: reason, not stubborn insistence). There's nothing wrong with forming an opinion.

Response to: When should height be measured? Posted September 24th, 2010 in General

Height is measured whenever convenient. I doubt that anyone will reschedule an appointment for height measuring simply because they want that extra half-inch of height in their favour. I doubt that it evens makes enough of a difference to warrant worrying about it - and it's probably why they never really bother to specifically measure height.

It's organic, subject to change.

Am I meant to take your word on this? OP, I don't know you, and I sure as hell don't trust you, and since when was Newgrounds a gossip site anyway? If you insist on persisting with this blatant fabrication and misdirection of the truth, then I shall ask for pics, in 80 megabyte or less packages, and various downloadable clips of older men doing various sexual acts with younger girls.

Then I'll do you in for posting CP on NG. So it's a win-win situation - either I can discount everything you say for lies, or you get banned.
