I want to get back into making games, hopefully to earn me some money. If you're an artist and want to work on something with me send me a PM. No ideas for games yet.

Just because you have no mind and no thoughts does not mean you don't exist. It only means you cannot prove your existence to yourself. I think therefore I am does not imply I don't think therefore I am not.

Used-Tampon I cant get yours to work. I think it's because one of the unsuckers blows up in the middle of the chain reaction. since the simulator only uses the initial position of the level to calculate paths, if a bullets goes through a gravity modifier, the rest of the paths will be inaccurate.

How you doin' newgrounds?

So I'm working on a game called CHAINright now. Basically the idea is that you have a certain number of clicks to clear all the pegs. Each time you click a peg, it will shoot a number of bullets, indicated on the peg, that can blow up other pegs, creating a chain reaction. There are also two gravity modifiers which is attract or repel bullets, indicated by the shape of the modifier.

So if you'd like a chance to win $10 ***ONLY IF THE GAME IS SOLD***, then check out this level editor. To use it, drag on elements from the right side of the screen. You can hit the simulate buttons to show the trajectories of the bullets. You can hold down shift and click a peg to rotate it. When you are satisfied with the level, hit get code and the level will be automatically copied to the clipboard. Just hit ctrl-v in a response to this thread. The levels I like will be featured in the game which a credit. The top level, judged by me, will earn the maker $10, payable by paypal, ***ONLY IF THE GAME IS SOLD***

Thanks a lot,
I look forward to seeing your levels.

If I understand you correctly, you mean use speed + theta as opposed to x velocity and y velocity? I don't see how that would do anything significant.

What's good newgrounds,

So I'm making a game called 'Chain' where there are a bunch of pegs on the screen and you have a certain number of clicks to clear them all, but each time a peg is clicked it explodes and sends out a bunch of bullet type things which can blow up other pegs. There are also special pegs which will do funky things such as spin round and round, attract/repel those bullet type things, (ideas welcome)

So if you're interested in working on this game with me let me by some way. my email is benweitzman@gmail.com. Also, I'm looking for a sort of clean, web 2.0-ish style for this game, but if you want to something different and I like it, cool!

Well if I'm looking for an artist, I'm probably a coder. so is pyro. the engine is at my school but so far it's just a pretty basic isometric moving engine. And definitely a percentage, proportional to the quality of work, so the better you do the more you get, probably up to %50 but possibly more it it's amazing artwork, and I mean museum-worthy.

Yo!!!!!!

So I'm working on this game called "Mow That Lawn!" which is an isometric puzzle/strategy game where you have to..... mow lawns. I'm looking for an artist with a pretty wacky, silly, possible kooky style of artwork to match the silliness of this game. This is a serious project though. Just silly in subject. You will be paid proportional to the quality of your work, provided that the game is eventually sponsored. I'm working on this game with Pyromaniac.

Let me know if you're interested. Please show example of work! That doesn't just mean a link to your games from the past (experience is nice though).

Thanks,
Ben

try this:
http://www.actionscriptclasses.com/2007/
key-polling-class/

its an external class that makes keys function just like in as2, which, if you're unfamiliar, was so much easier. If you don't want to do that, then what you have to do is create boolean values for each key that you need (the way you store them is up to you) that becomes true on keyDown and false on keyUp. The delay that your flash experiences is caused by the player only checking if the key is pressed, not if it is down.

your way does not rotate about an arbitrary point. it rotates about a set point. so my way is more useful.

you don't need a tutorial for a game. That won't teach you anything. If you know the code and the language you can make it do what you want.

That's how copyrights work, not my opinion. 'To be implemented in games' does not state it's for your games either. Best contact Michelle to clear that up.

Except that he released the source code to the public with the intention that it would be downloaded. I downloaded the source code and since it isn't released under a license, I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to use it in my game. I'll send him an email though just to make sure.

What you need to show is somewhere that states where it can be used. Otherwise, it's only for viewing/education.

I'd have to disagree with you there.

He should still have stated what he used from source code. Just because it's open source doesn't mean you don't have to credit it. The background moving looks pretty much like this too.

Anything else you want to tell use about? What part of this did you actually code? Because already the 2 most/only impressive parts of the engine have been ruled out.

No, I made the background effect myself. And I was never planning on not giving andre michelle credit for the effect. I don't know where you got the idea that I wouldn't do that. I also never took credit for his effect. Also, here is Andre's description of the explosion effect from his site:

Combine 3000 particles, a blurfilter and a new gradient colorpalette to create some nice explosions. To be implement into games.

To be implement into games!

And you know i am right. ;)

A preloader comes farther down the road. There are certainly more important things than the preloader, say, the game.

Move with arrows/AWSD. Shoot by making gestures with the mouse. wep 1 is a carat, wep 2 is a circle. There will be more in the full game
