To say "I'm a Furr" can mean so many things. You could say there are different levels to furr, from just looking at anthropomorphic porn, to drawing it, to the furr suits already mentioned, or simply joining NARFA. Not everyone who claims to be a furr is on the same level.
For some people it's a spiritual connection. They feel a totemic attraction to the characteristics of a specific animal or set of animals. They may simply feel this connection based on appearance or behavioural traits. For some, it's much deeper than that, an actual belief in the reincarnation of self.
For most, Furr is a sexual liberation of sorts, an outlet, if you will. Much like Homosexuality, B & D, or any other fetish, it's what turns the gears. Nothing is wrong with the sexual aspects of the Furrs life, they just get turned on by something else.
In some rare cases, I have encountered the bestiality aspect, but that's a whole other fetish and not really related to furries.
