In your script u call the object "square" so name yr object "square" not "Square"
Ok, I changed the name of my object from 'Square' to 'square', but it didn't change anything. But I only use 'square' once in my script, and it isn't supposed to refer to the name of the symbol, it just makes it easier to change the instance coordinates. I just picked a few random names for my objects, I don't suppose the object names should be used anywhere in the script, right?
Maybe I'm wrong, so could you please update the script I posted so I can test it?
I have: a MovieClip Symbol called Square, which has two layers: one for the four lines and one which contains the square's white body. I turn this body into another MovieClip Symbol, called Body. The square's Body instance will be called squareBody. Frame 1 of the layer 'lines' has the following actions assigned to it:
bodyColor = new Color(squareBody);
Now we return to the _root timeline. There's an instance of the Square Symbol called motherSquare. Frame 1 of my only layer has the following actions:
colorList = new Array(0x000000,0x0000FF,0x00FF00,0xFF0000);
for(i=0;i<4;i++) {
motherSquare.duplicateMovieClip("square"+ i,i);
square = eval("square"+i);
square._x = 50 + 50*i;
square._y = 50;
square.bodyColor.setRGB(colorList[i]);
}
When I test the movie, the squares appear, but the colors remain unchanged. I tried to fix it, but I have no idea how. Funny detail, when you add a second keyframe to the _root timeline, and give it the following actions:
square0.bodyColor.setRGB(0x00FF00);
stop();
then the first square will turn green.
Can anyone tell me how to write a code that gives all the squares their appropiate colors in the first frame? By the way: I'm using Flash version 6.0
