Merry-Early-Christmas to j00 too!

I don't like Piconjo purely on the grounds that he flames every artist and he has a legion of nerds following him into battle. It's pretty weak how an artist’s career is based upon bashing another.

Oh come on, it's called parody. That's why South Park and Family Guy exist. Being popular means that people will make jokes about you. It's been going on since the beginning of time. And he draws a few penises, so what. People were offended by gayness in the 70's, now it's okay to laugh at it. Loosen up a little.

Seeing someone shout "OMFG KILL THE TOADIES" always makes my day. We need more people like Piconjo. And talking about creativity, LegendaryFrog's most successful movies were those in which he took the characters from a famous movie and added a few lame Simpsons jokes.

At 12/13/04 11:29 AM, chadlock wrote: were do you gotta put that action script soo it will work and were could i change it so the time limit is longer

er, I put it in Frame 1 of my only layer in Scene 1. I only had three Scenes, all of them had only one keyframe, and the first scene had a button called scene3Button. It depends on the situation where you put it, this is just to make that guy's example work.

That 7000 is the Time limit. When 7000 millisconds (7 seconds) have passed, it executes the specified function (gotoScene2 in this example). You can change it to like 60000 (1 minute) or you can tell it to execute another function.

Yeah, okay I checked, it says Macromedia MX, but when you start Flash and select 'About Flash' you see 'Flash version 6'. So I guess it's the same thing.

Oh and to MaXJ - I just noticed another typ-o, and one of my 'corrections' was incorrect. Allow me to repost the entire code, if there are any more typ-o's I'll commit suicide.

stop();
gotoScene2 = function() {gotoAndStop("Scene 2",1);}
scene2Interval = setInterval(gotoScene2 , 7000);
scene3Button.onPress= function() {
gotoAndStop("Scene 3",1);
clearInterval(scene2Interval);
}

Flash 6 is the latest edition (I guess), so hope it's better than the precious editions. I've only seen flash 6, so i have no idea. But if you haven't got 6, can't you download an update from the Macromedia website?

At 12/13/04 10:52 AM, lapis wrote: scene2Interval = setInterval(gotoScene2 , 2000);

Thats what i put in my movie. after 7 seconds it go to another scen #2! and when you clicked a buttom on the first Scen you are going to Scen #3.

But when you clic the buttom, it contiunes to Scen #3. But after 7 seconds it goes automatlic to scen #2!! How do i stop the script after it change scen?. or when i clic on the Buttom

hmm, I use Flash 6, so I don't know if this will work for you, but it does for me. Let's the button is call 'scene3Button'. Add this to the actions for Frame 1 of one of your layers of scene 2.

stop();
goToScene2 = function() {gotoAndStop("Scene 2",1);}
scene2Interval = setInterval(gotoScene2 , 2000);
scene2Button.onPress= function() {
gotoAndStop("Scene 3",1);
clearInterval(scene2Interval);
}

Forget the Stop(); or use gotoAndPlay() or whatever is suitable in your movie, but this is the basic idea.

Hey BonusStage, I know this is too much work, but I've already seen a few people with experience levels 1-5 post their list, and their vote counts just as much as the votes of people who have been here for a longer time. I know my voting power (6.15 when I'm typing this) is still pretty mediocre, but still... the people with high experience levels are better at judging artists for what they've accomplished over the past year, so you should multiply people's votes with their voting power before you count them.
I don't expect you to redo your list and check everybody's profile, but I just think it had to be said.

dont knwo if it would work...

nah didn't work, but it doens't matter, thanks for responding anyway :)

ActionScript Question Posted December 12th, 2004 in Game Development

I'll illustrate my question with an example:
Main timeline, 1 layer, 1 keyframe. I'll call this layer 'rootlayer'.
I draw a triangle, convert it to a symbol called 'Triangle' and I give it the instance name 'triangle'.
I double-click on the triangle, allowing me to edit the symbol. Now I've got a new timeline, including a layer with 1 keyframe. This layer will be called 'trianglelayer'.

Now I'll declare a function 'hi' as an action for Frame 1 of the layer 'rootlayer'.
hi = function() {trace("hi");}

Then I want to access this function from the layer 'trianglelayer'.
So I type the following action for Frame 1 of the layer 'trianglelayer'.
hi();
This doens't work, it does work however when I type:
_root.hi();

Now I'll declare a function 'bye' as an action for Frame 1 of the layer 'trianglelayer'.
bye = function() {trace("bye");}

using 'bye(); ' as an action for Frame 1 of the layer 'rootlayer' doesn't work. I first tried 'triangle.bye(); ' and 'Triangle.bye(); ', but they don't work either. You can make it work by adding a second keyframe to the layer 'rootlayer' and giving it the actions 'triangle.bye(); ' and 'stop(); '.

I think this is because bye(); is called before it has been declared, so maybe someone can tell me how to access 'bye' from Frame 1 of 'rootlayer' without having to add new frames. Maybe a new layer?

- Piconjo

- Coolboyman
- Krinkels
