Bookmarks keep you connected to all the people you care about's profile pages.
94% of NG PMs and blog comments would become something along the lines of

"HEY DOOD AD ME 2 UR TOP 5 ND IL DO DA SAIM 4 U!!!"

No, bookmarks dont notify you if your favourite artist submitted something or made a new post on his/her blog. Also, friends lists show people how important they are in the flash/audio community and give your friends plugs to their userpages too...

also, i have faith people wont be like that, i doubt good artists will accept those friend requests from random people and im also pretty sure there will be rules against that kind of faggotry :P or they will just block them if they get annoying, and i doubt people will like getting blocked, so they wont do those kind of comments....

I've always had my fears that people would see it as a step towards NG becoming a bunch of MySpace vomit, but overall we all like the idea of being able to link up to eachother. Right now a user page can become a bit of a dead-end, but with a friends list, there could be more paths to branch off into. What does everyone else think? Does the idea disgust you, or do you agree that at the end of the day, it would be a welcome feature?

YESYEYSYEYSYEYSYEYSYS I LOVE THE IDEA!!! not the myspace vomit thing, the friends list... im sure its all very well tought, kinda like the portal buddies thing and the PM contacts... hey is this going to integrate both into a single list or something?

Fuck all of you. You guys are fucking idiots.

yeah this is VERY fucked up. people have to relearn the difference between a good movie that deserves a top spot, and a funny movie that... doesnt...

I blame the time they spent on the frontpage tho, if art in the playground and crow's life had been more than a couple of days in the frontpage, and brawl taunts less than... months, then it would had been a different story... or so I'd like to think...

Topic: New way of watching flash in NG

Posted: 06/17/08 12:43 AM

Forum: Where is / How to?

My point here is that WE are not supossed to be the ones looking for ways to get around the website's umcomodities. if that was the case, then the admins wouldnt be worrying about the chat interface or the new store interface, or the search bar...

Yea its good that you actually open a notepad app to write down your posts and reviews, cause that lets you work on other things in the webpage while you're thinking about what else to write. It might be better in that aspect but its also a bit tedious and annoying, and i doubt everyone does or will do that, so its better to organize the page in a different way so the elementsare arranged in a more comfortable and convenient way :)

Users should take some responsibility for their own comfort is my view, rather than assuming all web sysadmins will do so for them.

There's not much responsibility they can take other than the pop up thing if you have opera, and the notepad example with posts and reviews, everything else has to be handled by the admins, LIKE a better way of watching flashes and all those other site features :P

And about the pop-up thing, not everyone has opera or tabbed popups or whatever, and a website is supossed to work with most of the browsers available and be comfortable in them :)

At 6/15/08 07:43 AM, Haggard wrote: Opera needs to be advertized. It's the best browser out there, but not everyone knows it. :D
Also, the incobability with "some stuff on the web" is long gone and it's mostly because some people don't use proper HTML. Maybe the site looks good in the IE, but the IE interprets HTML in a very strange way. The way Opera (and FF) interpret HTML is much better.
So if your site doesn't work in Opera it's very likely that there's a problem on your end. ;)

Mh makes sense. I still prefer firefox, i find it much simpler to use. i remember when i was mesing with opera's toolbars, i couldnt restore them, andi had to go to a super hidden window in the options page to restore them, and it was a pain in the ass. Opera for other devices like the wii and mobile phones is great tho :)

OK so back to the topic, what do you suggest to make that way of showing flashes better? no ads or something?

Posting in the forum isn't spamming the portal... are you apologising for actually spamming the portal as well? If so, it's not very related to the rest of your post. #;-}>

I submitted the swf i showed you in the first post to the portal, and got blammed, thats why i said that :)

Dont you hate when you're watching a flash movie or playing a flash game and you want to give it a vote or review it but you CANT since the lightbox wont let you? you could always watch it as a pop-up but we all know its not too nice and convenient and it clutters your taskbar...
No, because I never use the lightbox, as you call it.

it is actually called lightbox btw :P

If I'm reviewing a flash, I actually use a notepad window to type it up, laid partially over my browser window, but where I can still see the full flash playing next to notepad. Then when I'm done, I paste it into the review slot and post it.

Thats good, still, NG should give us comfort and accesibility, we shouldnt had to open sepparate apps to review submissions

ok so the goal here is to convince the staff to implement this idea instead of the lightbox. its more convenient since it opens the flash in the same window and it also lets you do other stuff in the same page while waiting for the flash to load...

heres the example
That's a decent idea, but:

A) use pop-up instead of watch/view link.

thats exactly what i want to avoud

B) use Opera (where the pop-up loads in a new tab within the same window, and doesn't spam up your taskbar) instead of Firefox or IE.
Just as good, IMO.

Not everyone likes Opera.

Tabbed browsing FTW!
Well, Firefox is tabbed, but (at least by default) it does make NG pop-up flashes open in a separate window.

I always use the pop-up button because I don't like the lightbox either. But the windows I open in my browser aren't shown in the tast bar because of tabbed browsing.

But I still kinda like your suggestion. ;)
Thanks to OPERA-style tabbed browsing specifically. #;-}> But yeah, we're of like minds on this.

BTW, I've been using opera more and more not just for NG but also for other sites, and I love a lot of features about it, just ways in which you interface with it and shortcuts and navigation tools and aids and so forth...

Lol, it almost looks as if you were advertizing the browser. I tried it once but i found it kinda hard to use, and i have read its not compatible with some stuff on the web, so i rather use IE or Firefox :)

So yea, i think the site is supossed to fix our problems with it. meanwhile we find a way to fix em ourselves but its the site's responsablity after all. thats why they left the popup link :D

Majora's Mask was one of the deepest and darkest zeldas of all. I love it! its a shame it didnt sell much. Even though the main game was one of the shortest in the zelda series (4 dungeons) the dozens of sidequests made up for that. Maybe the 3-day-limit idea could get frustrating at times, yet, i enjoyed being able to repeat the bosses and i liked to organize what i would do each cycle, it was unique :D

I hope we get another zelda as unique as this one soon, from the original story to the strong bonds with the characters, it was just awesome :D
