If you run at least a mile a day (to start, more once you get in shape) and weigh train 3-4 times a week and cut back on calories you could probably lose at least 3 or 4 pounds a week while gaining a little muscle.
That's epic, no sympathy for him since I doubt he honestly is suicidal, just a punk who wants attention. I know you said he wasn't a bad guy, but he still deserved that one.
I'm in college right now, so I do shit jobs just for some spending money. Over the summer I'm working at a golf course, because at least there I get free golf too :P
