I lol'd. There are no other rules. >:3

I certainly don't deny the lack of quality in music within the last 10 years, however, it's not fair to blame it on lack of theory or progression rules, or all that jargon.

Music is music, if you slap a Tambourine on some Piano strings and just so happen to dub it over a Yoko Ono track, it's still music. Music is a language of the people, and the average listener isn't going to say "Gee, I would've used a diminished fifth there."

What you're complaining about, really only applies to us, (Trained musicians, and pricks) and more specifically you (prick). So, I propose that if you find the music of today so horrible in quality and theory, then do something about it.

Response to: Who uses Garageband here at NG? Posted December 7th, 2007 in Audio

Pfft.

Being as morbidly retarded as I am, I never fully understood the capabilities of Garageband (though, I also don't own a midi cord. . . ) and to be honest, it isn't that user-friendly. Also, I find the Apple band VST's (or whatever they're called) to be of rather inferior quality.

Pfft, N00bs...

You can't fix what isn't broken. The AP shouldn't be a popularity portal! Last thing I want is a million reviews from people who don't say anything constructive, the Flash portal's full of 13 year olds who leave shit like; "ZOMG< DIS IS 2 KOOL, MKE MOORE!". I'm completely contempt with my intellectual reviews from Musicians.

We're fine the way we are, keep it that way. >:(

Indeed they are! I just reviewed his 'Evil Nocturne' - a funny little tune. : )

His music is so sophisticated; he really understand the underlying principles of the works of great composers like Chopin or Tchaikovsky. He's also really skilled at using GPO to make his instruments sound realistic.

Although his submissions are generally highly-rated (actually, I've been responsible for raising the scores of some of them over the last several days), his name isn't really as well known and his submissions typically don't get that many views.

I think he's probably the best classical composer on Newgrounds, though. It's a wonder that he's so young.

Oh I second that with an iron fist - However, Simon's pretty well known among the reg's. His music is very Chopin-esque, unbelievably complex rythmic patterns yet simple and eligant melodies. If you like his works, you should also check out WinterWind's classical stuff. : )

Man, that doesn't work for everyone. Honestly, that wasn't constructive at all! I mean really, if you're going to just come down on someone like that, you should have some damn good reasons/points to show for it. And c'mon, you want these people to not be discouraged from making music! What you Should have done was made some type of post in his audio page... maybe something like a "personal reflection" on one of his songs.

Hm...

Case and point there, eh Rucklo?

Suppose you're right... Spamming is quite the bitch. However, after thinking for quote some time now - there doesn't really seem to be a solution. If you keep banning people, more and more people will become reluctant/scared to post here, and it will just fail miserably. If you let it all go, we'll just keep getting stupid posts like this one^^
I guess what you were doing before my work with time, but I would have to agree with more strict disciplining for repeat 'offenders', they should know better!

What the hell did that have to do with anything?

Yeah, I would have to semi-diagree with the level of talent required to make/play your own music. Realistically, it is an entire different set of talents - One who can write out technically how to play/read music (implying that there is a theory knowledge behind it) is completely different from those who can just write something without any musical knowledge, yet with amazing complexity and diversity. Therefore, there is no comparison. It's completely different subjects^^

Nothing else, really.

See Rucklo, that's just the problem - I do believe this is the ONLY THREAD where one wouldn't have to think twice about posting something. It's bad enough one out of place post will get you flammed 'til ya' can't stands no more, why not just leave it be here?
Chit-chat is chit-chat, I'm intrigued what you clarify as spamming. Scanned through the BBS post rules, but what does Rucklo think?

MusicalRocky just submitted an entire Symhony, yet has got little to no attention. His music is brilliant, and should be up there with the Classical Gods.

Well, methinks exporting a midi and just changing the instrumentation is still stealing... I mean, it's the same song, same notes, same expression and dynamics. Just different instruments.
