I'll pass then, the effects are poorly made, EQ is pretty bad too and overall the track should be redone.
Thanks anyway mate ; )

I'm a noob but just to understand: for mastering you don't mean EQualizing and all other things, right?
For my track (my first one), I just used Maximus on the .wav file exported.

Do you need the whole project or just the audio?

Yep I'm THAT NOOB lol

Yes, some SoundFonts sound really good. I remember a guy here uploading a whole collection, that was like 3 GB.
Anybody got the link for this guy?

I don't think when ATB was producing there was Nexus around ^^
Anyway I achieved a similar result (very cheap lol) by adding a synth to a choir soundfont, as the guy with the fox avatar said.

I don't know what a SFZ is, but a Choir layered with a Synth should do the trick, not? I'm gonna try it

This sound/lead Posted December 21st, 2012 in Audio

It starts near 0:46.
I have seriously no idea on how to do it. Or at least something very similar. So I'm asking here the experts: what type of sound is this? How can I recreate it? What kind of oscillators/settings to get a similar sound?

Just a question: what if I want to make a piano sounds like "water"? I don't know how to explain, but how to add a watery feel to a piano? In general: water related sounds, what do you think? Can they be synthesized?

Welcome to the phorum

They don't necessarily have to be of high quality or anything, I just want to play around with them as building blocks so I can do shitty sound design

Sup Buoy? Here's some from my list of favourites

Sound Bible - http://soundbible.com/
Mostly for cool effects like elephant, rain and chainsaw as you said. This one kicks asses

Free Sound - http://www.freesound.org/
You already mentioned it.

Sound Jay - http://www.soundjay.com/
Nice samples, what else I can say. Oh cool name too, lol.

Oh, and of course as the guy above me said (don't remember the name sorry, and my internet is shit today) just do a research on Google, if you're lucky you can come up with cool things.

You need Bittorrent or uTorrent (don't use LimeWire). Set up the program then download torrent, just double click torrent and click ok. I'm still seeding.

Any details? I mean: what kind of instruments/soundfonts etc?
30 GB are a lot...

Response to: The Genre Wars Posted December 12th, 2012 in Audio

I listen to everything, even tribal-world music. I just can't stand dubstep and metal (however I never listened to them, so I could enjoy them, who knows).

But seriously, thread is pointless. Maybe OP was trying to make a thread about WHY we don't like some genres...

You could build a motif or something, and make it various throughout the time... It seems quite stupid, but I understand your point

Response to: Music represented through logic? Posted December 10th, 2012 in Audio

Chords, basses and other elements are quite easy. Try to do that with a melody...

Response to: Medieval guitar scales Posted December 10th, 2012 in Audio

You guys could check out the Greensleeves folk song. Go download some MIDIs and check out the various keys. One is in Dorian, another one is in Melodic Minor.

The original is a mix between Dorian and another scale (basically it uses Dorian mode + 2 notes that aren't part of it).

Anyone else know songs/melodies like this? I'm looking for them too...

No way. I have more than 4.000 songs (not joking) and I almost gave up making my own genres for each songs. Genres don't exist in amateur world. More like a mix of four, five genres that you like and get influence from. IMHO it should me more like 5 macrogenres...

Who cares if it is orchestra, ambient, dance, etc.? The important is "do people like the song?"

Response to: Fantasy Music Pack? Posted December 7th, 2012 in Audio

Interested in this too. Any fantasy resources out there (except the various free sites like Soundbible that contain good FXs)?

Response to: Medieval guitar scales Posted December 7th, 2012 in Audio

I'm not expert and I'm the last person that should say this, but I think modes were used in medieval age. I'm referring to Dorian, Aeolian, etc. But you need to get the feel not only from the scale and the notes, you need instruments, drums, etc. etc.

You got the point, good luck and wait for others ;)
