I'd like to give the writer thing a shot, it is true you didn't give many details, but that can help a writer add his own "touch" to the story, adding details for example, I don't know if I canbe of help, I'll send you some pages I wrote not so long ago via PM so you decide.
The idea is good, it can grow with the work of a team to become something great.

Alone can be applied to feel lonely even in the middle of the crowd XD, and the crew = children and well you escape, so you can loose everyone in the run It can be understood in many ways, I got confused at the same point, but I just let it go on like that

THANKS I got to say that´s my writing style, I´ve made some other short stories, anyway I´ll keep going with this project

So, I woke up in the middle of nowhere, covered by darkness, hoping to be finally safe.
Everything happened so fast, I had no time to analyze the things carefully, even though nothing had sense today.
We were in the party, just relaxing after 3 years of high school, when some kinda creatures jumped through the windows.
Mark, he was the first victim, a creature caught his neck. Needless to say, we could do nothing but to see him die.
My crew survived the house, we escaped from death, at least for an hour, we were safe.
I wonder how long this false peace will last, I wonder if someone else made it. For now I´ll be awake, I got to protect them, I can not fail this time. I´m the last one, the only thing between that creatures and those kids, I will fight, for the first time, not to myself, but to protect them from this.

what about the name of someone/something you like, I suggest Dante, Gideon. Or go for someone common, a character like any other, John, Selene, Richard.
Or think on mixtures
Maybe foreign names Vlad, Jean
Vector, Minus, Umbra
There is a world of names but, you gotta choose the one that resonates with the character
