I put this on the end of the survey, but I'd like to see customer reviews and stuff for products. I might eat my own words when they end up just like the flash portal reviews are, but I want to see what kind of feedback the products are getting.

I'm excited this won't be as big a wait as Castle Crashers was. I'm assuming it's also got a smaller scope, but that's still fine by me. Castle Crashers was pretty huge, and I could use a fun little co-op game like this appears to be sounds great.

There's a difference between knowing something and understanding something. Knowing a whole lot of shit might affect the understanding part, but I imagine there'd still be giant pockets of people understanding something wrong. We would see most of our current problems evaporated and get replaced with new ones.

Because the pinnacle of scientific skepticism is found within the pages of books regarding supernatural phenomena.

What's this bullshit about plants having feelings? When I first read it here, I thought the kid was trolling. I'm praying that I've just fallen into his trap, because it's still laughable bullshit. It's obvious that trees don't get scared when you kill other plants in front of them. That's just silly. If you put a blindfold over me and plugged my ears, and killed a man in front of me, I'd have no way of knowing about it. Even if trees had thought (which they don't; they're made of wood) they don't have senses, so they would have no way of knowing.

Also, Earth doesn't feel pain, Japan. This Gaia bullshit from the Final Fantasy movie is a lie. That goes for you too, M. Night Shyamalan.

Forum: Politics

We need to get off everybody's back for using words like faggot, retard, and [a word that even Newgrounds, a site that rose to prominence through incredibly offensive material, will not allow me to say]. They only carry weight because we make them taboo. Why are we in a society where our brutally violent movies like Braveheart get shit from rights groups because they depict a gay man as being wimpy, or our vulgar comedies like Tropic Thunder get attacked for using the word retard in reference to a retarded character? It's stupid. We should use these words more often so that these retarded sandy twats learn to deal with it instead of trying to censor everybody.

It doesn't mean they don't want to simulate it. Alcoholics oftentimes drink near-beer, and diabetics use sugar substitutes. Just because you can't consume something (for health, law, or morals) doesn't mean you don't have the craving.

I personally think it should be ignored. It seems wrong to trick yourself.

At 12/29/08 09:06 PM, TheGuyAtYourWindow wrote: bottom line, if humans werent meant to eat meat, then we wouldnt, it wouldnt taste so damn good, we'd get sick from it, the animals we ate would be able to defend themselves from us, but we do and it does and we dont and they cant!

I really don't know where to start. It's like deciding where to puncture a jug of milk.

humans are animals, seriously guys, we are no different from anything else with hair and eyes and mouths, and some animals eat animals, are you saying lions are somehow cruel to animals?

So, we aren't in control of our actions or our practices because we're just animals, playing the game the way they're meant to? We have the ability to consider things beyond our survival. A lion sees barely past its nose. It eats when it's hungry, it takes what it desires. Its empathy is short-reaching and only covers its kin. Lions don't acknowledge the pain of other living things. They can't; they aren't smart enough. As you move up the scale, you see creatures like bonobos and gorillas feeling sad for dead animals, and helping living ones when they can. You see dolphins saving people from drowning, and showing respect for other creatures. We are at the top, where we can transcend innate concepts. We have the ability to deny our urges, and we have the capability of accommodating for the unnatural turn. Humans have come to a point where they control their own nature.

vegetarians are stupid screw heads who cant handle being a human

You act as though it's silly to reject something like consuming other animals when we don't need to. I find it silly that you're that dumb. We don't need to do it. If we had to throw puppies into windmills to stay alive, it would be a necessary sacrifice. But if you find a way to survive without throwing puppies into windmills, why would you still do it? You only do it because your natural urge (the one that makes sure you keep yourself alive) makes it a pleasure so that you don't forget to do it. We're smart enough to recognize that that part of our brain isn't necessary anymore. We take painkillers to tell our brains we have the pain under control; not to worry about it. We need to tell our brains we've got the nutrients covered; we don't need to throw more puppies into windmills.

You only eat meat because it's pleasurable, which is probably the grossest of reasons to do anything. This is just decadence to the fullest of its definition. It's not something like sex, where you can satisfy your urge at the suffering of nothing else. This is an urge that is only quenched by killing another being. This is an urge you no longer need to quench, but you do it anyway. You paint it differently in your head; you make it acceptable. Your brain detaches the reality from the situation, because you probably understand why it's wrong.

Next year, it should be either required or heavily suggested that participants scan their own pages to the desired specifications and email those in addition to mailing the physical pages. I imagine it would save a big chunk of time not having to scan hundreds of pages, and you could get working on incorporating pages before you get them in the mail.

There's usually just one meatless salad, actually. Restaurants tend to do a lot of chicken salads. You might have better luck on soups. Places like Red Robbin have that boca bullshit, but, honestly, what vegetarian would choose to go to a hamburger restaurant for dinner anyway?

Topic: You sir, are indeed intolerant.

Posted: 12/13/08 06:37 AM

Forum: Politics

This is the way things work. People are naturally uncomfortable around unfamiliar things. I was never taught anything bad about black people, but I've never felt like it's normal to be around them. I spent more time around Indians than most people, so I feel more comfortable around them. It becomes a non-issue. Homosexuality isn't much different. People are "tolerating" or "accepting" them because they know that it is right to, but it doesn't change their awkward feeling about them. It's not a homophobic thing, just as mine wasn't racist thing. It's just something we're not used to.

Things like right or left-handedness, or glasses or none, or male or female, or blond or brunette, don't impact us because we don't think about it; they're entirely subtle unique features about people. Most people aren't used to being around gay people, so it's a constantly present identifier about them. Anything of that sort that keeps shouting out at you dashes the possibility of being normal around them.

I knew a kid who had three fingers on one hand. It was like a Ninja Turtle hand. He was otherwise totally normal. But I never thought about him as I did everyone else -- because he had a Ninja Turtle hand.

We're not intolerant because of the way we linger on someone's homosexuality. We'll be like this until it's no longer noteworthy, because we're so used to it. You can't force yourself to accept it or to be comfortable about it. Merely bringing it into mind proves that it's not that simple.
