WHAD DA F---?
That's got to be the worst program I've ever seen. Why?, Because it would generally stop me from having any reason to be on a computer at all.

Response to: death chess Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

It's the only way that chess will appeal to the modern market.

Response to: What do you think Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Uh yeah... It works for anything, if you use the rectangle tool with the lines around it, it will have the lines and the colour inside 2 separate objects, so you can either delete just the lines, or just the colour inside. That or select it, then choose another colour to replace it with.

Response to: death chess Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

There's already a game involving chess pieces fucking the shit out each other 'til they explode.
How do I know? Uh... *Runs*

Look it up on google.

Response to: What do you think Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Assuming all the lines are connected to make a shape without holes, use the bucket fill tool to fill the shape with colour.

Response to: ideas Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Make one based on something on real life, a book/game/movie (Parodies), or even music video.

Response to: What do you think Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Like, more professional. Sleeker perhaps?
Like the 'My computer' icon, If the monitors a square, then make it a square. Use the line tools to be more precise with your drawings.

If it were history, it would be so that we would learn from our mistakes.
Either that, or it's a 'They have so many submissions, we HAVE to give them a collection page'.

Response to: What do you think Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

You should clean it up a bit. Ya know? make the graphics/art a tad more cleaner.

Response to: Alarms Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

These 'groups' eventually die out, and generally consist of amateurs. Meaning they'd spam up the portal faster than if they tried alone.
You don't have any right to say 'Join, it'll be fun!' when you have a BA of 1.69.

Response to: you have heard this sound b4 Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

You could always try PM'ing him and ask him about where he gets his sfx's from...

Response to: Alarms Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Ever though about how much we hate those groups?
I advise you to run before the flame cannons are lit.

Response to: wave/water effect Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Draw a wave, turn it into a movieclip (F8).
Double click the movieclip to edit it. -You can turn that into a movie clip as well if you want-
Tween it however you want. It will then loop. Edit it to make it a seemless loop by making the edge of where it tweens the same.

Response to: Button not working? Need some help. Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Something I forgot and just remembered, I had the same problem;

Name the frame you want to go to with a frame label. (Properties)
Call it what ever you want... and then change your code to:

on (release) {
_root.gotoAndPlay("omgwtf");
}

With 'omgwtf' changed to whatever you called the frame.

Response to: Question? Posted June 2nd, 2007 in General

Uh, you mean this crew?

Response to: Button not working? Need some help. Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

on (release) {
_root.gotoAndPlay("Scene 2", 1);
}

My bad, the 'Play' should be capitalised.

Response to: Flash made photoGallery Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Turn the thumbnail image to a button. I think you can figure it out from there.
Or if you can't...
Say image17 was on frame 17. The button would have the AS;

on (release) {
gotoAndPlay(17);
}

on it. And etcetera for everything else.

Response to: Flash made photoGallery Posted June 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

You mean something like this? (Graphics assignment for school)

Basically, make it like a slideshow, but have each thumbnail go to that certain frame.

Download the vCam .fla here.

Response to: Button not working? Need some help. Posted June 1st, 2007 in Game Development

I'm assuming your code has a 'gotoAndplay'?
Put a '_root.gotoAndplay' instead.

I'm pretty sure about that. I'm not a coder though.

If it's not finished, why did you post it on NG for?
If you wanted opinions on it, you should've posted here, rather than on the portal.

Response to: What do you think Posted June 1st, 2007 in Game Development

- Poor concept.
- Poor art.
- Poor font.
- Poor design.
- Poor humour.
- Poor presentation. NOTHING is cleaned up.
- Poor colour scheme.
- Lack of highlights, shading. Even if it's a OS sim, the taskbar still has a metallic shading.
- Lack of entertainment.
- Lack of originality.
- Lack of ideas - The web browser is horrid.
- Lack of spell check. 'Where' instead of 'Were'. And 'Wikiwedia' instead of 'Wikipedia'.
- Buttons don't work . Even if it isn't finished, buttons go to different places.
- Buttons have a poor hit range. Hitting 'IE' or 'My computer' requires you to actually click on either the letters, or the actual picture, the space in between is considered nothing.

- Looks unprofessional.

That is all.

Response to: Help: As Scripter / Pixel Artist Posted May 31st, 2007 in Game Development

Writing a storyline and creating 'concept arts' could take possibly a day, while animating and scripting could take months.
Calling us irrational? The irony.

Response to: Automatic Quality Setting Posted May 31st, 2007 in Game Development

That's AS2... the AS3 is different.

Response to: Need flash ideas Posted May 30th, 2007 in Game Development

I advise you to do something that you enjoy/like, if you do something you don't, animating it will be a long, tedious journey, which at some points, you'll end up not giving a damn if you finish or not.

So you should do a song possibly you're listening to right now, or base a movie off what's currently happening in your life.

Well actually, until you hit level 40, the quest give you more quest than grinding.
If you want a grind fest, try Ragnarok Online.
