Response to: Help music in flash gone wild! Posted July 29th, 2007 in Game Development

Oh, well that doesn't. Have you tried putting the sound into a movieclip?

Response to: Help music in flash gone wild! Posted July 29th, 2007 in Game Development

You know, I took a look, and it seems like every thing's in place. Nothing sounds wrong at all.
Maybe it's just your computer lagging?

Response to: Platformer ActionScript help Posted July 29th, 2007 in Game Development

To duck/run/duck etc. you would put all the animations for each action into a movieclip. Then put all of those on different frames in the movieclip.
And seeing as how you know how it basically works, on the keydown code, also add 'this.gotoAndStop(x);.
Basically, x would be the number say, we press 'down' and the duck position is on frame 3, so you'd replace x with 3.
Also, when keyup, make sure to have it change itself back to the standing frame.
That should do it.

Response to: Help music in flash gone wild! Posted July 29th, 2007 in Game Development

1. Is the sound/music set to Stream? (In the 'Properties panel', at the bottom of your layout by default.)
2. Are you using scenes? Scenes mess up the sound syncing.

Response to: I need help to find... Posted July 29th, 2007 in Game Development

If you have a mic., then you could probably just try recording the sound by itself and editing it to suit your needs.
It would be pretty hard finding a 360 game sfx...

A creature this time. I'm making a logo for someone and this is what I came up with.

It pretty much means 'base of'. Think of a tree. Where the roots are the timeline, and the leaves the symbols.

4. how did you learn action script? and do you think that is was a good way of learning it?

I lurked around these forums and read post until I got the hang of it. Also - Script Assist, if you have Flash 8+ I think, it shortens the amount you have to type in. )It's in the top right hand corner of the actions panel.)

Response to: just wondering... Posted July 28th, 2007 in Game Development

Probably not. Dress up games are pretty much considerd to be n00b-ish.
Unless they're like that 20,109,600000 Pin-ups one.

Response to: Vcam inside another MC? Posted July 28th, 2007 in Game Development

Just make sure that there aren't 2 vcams on at the same time...
Other than that, there's probably something you're doing wrong, because I can do it just fine.

Response to: Vcam inside another MC? Posted July 28th, 2007 in Game Development

The vCam does work inside other MC's, Just make sure the registration points are aligned (so that it displays properly, although you'll have to have a wild guess as sometimes it's not always 'the middle one'.) and that the other vCam (on the main timeline) isn't on the stage at the same time.

Response to: Animation help Posted July 28th, 2007 in Game Development

1. Well if you change the rotation point, which is the white circle that's in the middle when you free transform the object. (Q). you can make it rotate on that point (You would put that on the elbow, or the knee for example).
2. If you put them ALL into one symbol, no. You'd have to make each limb a different one. And on a different layer.

Did anyone realise that with the co-author option down, we're pretty much fucked until they fix it, unless Tem already added everyone before hand... Which I doubt she did.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Or she could submit it solo, no matter really...

Response to: Kronk1's art thread Posted July 28th, 2007 in Art

The first one's pretty good, I like that you used pixels for the bottom platform and faded it out. That and it's in my favour because of its dark looking theme.

They're alright, though you need to study some human anatomy.

Response to: what do you think? Posted July 28th, 2007 in Art

It's so-so. Most of the proportions are out by a small bit, and also the hair should really go all around hte top of his head.
Although, the horrible thing about reviewing art is that the 'deformities' might be your style. Like him having short stubby fingers.

And drawing a CD player isn't such a good idea (unless you're doing a spec. graphics drawing) - in terms of, it's not a good item to draw. Since it has a more robotic, artificial element to it. Drawing real life/natural, alive objects tend to improve drawings skills by a bit if you practice.

Also, tweens use use more kbs than keyframes do.

Response to: Help with animated movie clips... Posted July 28th, 2007 in Game Development

I see nothing wrong with your method.
Check if there is any actionscript referring to, or is inside the actual movieclip.

Although, if problems persist, you can upload it to Denvish which will let other people have a shot at it. (Try uploading as minimal as you can.)

And yes, this still works.

Another, Mouse + Flash.
Sketchy abstract Grim reaper of some sort - And he's holding the 34M logo as a scythe.

I need comments. D=

I drew this when I got animators block, which is pretty much the same thing as any other 'block' (e.g. Writers block). It's a draft for an idea I have for making one of those kickass logo intros for my Flash animations.

Even without the actual thing you wanted to display up, I don't see how you can call it a Flash you Maded if it's just a still image, and not a very good one at that.

Although, feel free to prove me wrong if you get the chance to post the proper image, and it's tons better than that one.

Response to: ng preloader Posted July 28th, 2007 in Game Development

1. Double click on the preloader MC.
2. Click on the (if you have the preloader I'm using right now) blue hit area.
3. Hit F9 and the actions panel should come up.
4. There, you should find this :
on (release) {
getURL("http://www.newgrounds.com", "_blank");
}

5. Delete the text.

All you have to do is put in the top-most layer and tween it where ever.
Also, check it doesn't have any colour properties on it.

There's a link on the 2nd page. Download the file and copy the vcam movieclip into your own movie.
