Sounds like you average, stereotypical 'Heaven vs Hell' type stories.
I strongly advise you to do something else - something original.

Response to: V-cam in flash pro 8 Posted July 16th, 2008 in Game Development

Copy the Vcam movieclip, resize it to the dimensions of your stage, and paste it on the top most layer of your animation.
If you tweened it from left to right, it will capture everything within its boundaries, and display it as if you had tweened the object across the stage.

Response to: flash problem out of sync.. why Posted July 15th, 2008 in Game Development

If it isn't, select the frame that the sound is on, go to 'Properties', and set 'Event' to 'Stream'.
Also, if that fails, try File > Publish Settings > 'Flash' tab > Increase kbps to about 48~64.

Response to: Flash memory error? Posted July 13th, 2008 in Game Development

How much RAM do you have? 1GB is ideal. Anything below that will start to lag if the flash file gets too big, or you're using up too much space on your hard drive.
I'd say, either buy some more RAM, or clean out / uninstall / delete everything you don't need on your computer.

Response to: Raise minimum BA for collabs Posted July 8th, 2008 in Game Development

That would, just a tad, kill the whole 'Everything by Everyone' theme.
But I would have to agree with you on the filtering out the crap thing. I would probably just suggest another rule?
What if someone flukes three 4.0's, and has no collaborating experience?

Response to: Flash series help Posted July 5th, 2008 in Game Development

Either call it by the main characters first name (If it isn't something generic like 'Bob'), or something stringing to that.

Response to: Looking for a good flash artist Posted July 5th, 2008 in Game Development

What do the animators get in return for animating for you?

Response to: ummmmm... kinda noobish Q Posted July 3rd, 2008 in Game Development

When you select something using the free transform (Q), you get a white circle in the middle - this is the anchor point. Put it where you want it to anchor from / where the object should rotate from.

Oh wait, their names looked the same. -_-
Unless they're alts or something similar.

I suppose the design is good, it you say, looked at geometry wars - that game was epic. Assuming that you made the game that interesting. Meaning that it would be easier to criticise if we saw it in action.

Make a keyframe at each end, FIRST. Then make sure you're ON that keyframe, and apply the alpha tweak on THAT SYMBOL - Make sure that both the keyframes consist of nothing BUT the SAME SYMBOL. AFTER THAT, apply the motion tween.

Response to: the damn "fading in" problem Posted June 30th, 2008 in Game Development

If you're using straight image files (If you're using the actual .png file), you're going to have to convert it into a symbol first (select and hit F8), then look in properties > color > alpha.

I'm assuming you know how to motion tween - make one end alpha'd at 0%, and the other 100%. (Or however much you want.

I was supposed to post this before "blight of the reaper"... but DAMN YOU WIRELESS INTERNET.

C&C pl0x? I need +self-esteem =(

Art and whatnot.

Response to: Art and whatnot. Posted June 28th, 2008 in Art

I actually drew this one by hand. Then I traced / coloured with Flash etc etc etc.

So I noticed how very much I hate (more like dislike actually...) vegetarians.
I have a 'vegetables in kitchen horror movie' on my 'to-do' list for my Flashes.

THINK ABOUT THE VEGETABLES!!!

Art and whatnot.

Response to: Best way to export flash to a vid? Posted June 21st, 2008 in Game Development

Personally, I'd say use a screen recorder.

A free one is Camstudio.
Response to: Graphics vs Movie Clips Posted June 16th, 2008 in Game Development

Movieclips can have actionscript or effects (8+) added onto them. Graphics can't.
Graphics can display their loops, and be paused (more easily than a MC) on frame.

Use a movieclip for games, code, or effects. Use graphics for everything else graphical I suppose.

I WILL NOT CORRECT YOU THEN. >=O
The whole point of the picture is to say that they're alike. (The reaper, and the mental facility security)
As well as the name 'The difference is Canny", which is a reference to the phrase "The difference is Uncanny" - which means surreal, or extraordinarily eerie. So the "...canny" would be that it's blatantly obvious / common.

Dum de dum de dum.

It's not a 'swoosh' effect. Look at the red separately.

Thanks guys - Here's another.

It's one of those guys from the security ward... Y'know, with the nets when a crazy guy escapes. Just incase you were thinking it was a butterfly catcher or something.

And here's a bigger / the original version.

Yeah, it means something if you really don't think about it.

Yes, oxymoron - no not really.

C&C pl0x?

Flash, mouse, an hour I should've been doing my 3 major assignments. Woo me.

Response to: Noob problem/question Posted June 13th, 2008 in Game Development

Put the stop code on the frame, put the on(release) on the button.

Response to: Changing Alpha Posted June 13th, 2008 in Game Development

If you know alpha's, I'm assuming you know how to tween.
Tween one side 0%, and the other 100%.

Response to: need some help Posted June 8th, 2008 in Game Development

Move the MC around, and what ever's in it at the time will be displayed.

No, you didn't. You said that you needed one, you sucked but not what the expert would do. If I were him/her, I'd stand around and look pretty. I'm sure that's not what you'd want.
Also, if you're asking someone to work with/for you, they'd usually want some sort of benefits/pay.

They don't respect animation as an artform or/of expression. Where old bastards say you're wasting time on a computer, while the guy next to you holding the paint brush is pretty much doing exactly the same thing as you are.

Bloody old people.
Response to: Scene Question... Posted June 6th, 2008 in Game Development

It's used for organisation / another timeline. Scene 2 plays after scene 1, etc etc. (Insert > Scene)
Although, it's known to mess up sounds, and files, so it's advised not to use them.

Response to: Action Scripting [Main Help] Posted June 6th, 2008 in Game Development

It doesn't work that way, seriously. There's a reason that there's a search bar, but do you really think that every newcomer to these forums think to use it? No.
It'll be the same for this thread. If it happened to get to 10 pages long, you'd be better off making your own thread, rather than searching through 10 pages of probably irrelevant information.

Response to: Action Scripting [Main Help] Posted June 6th, 2008 in Game Development

...Wait, What?
So you're basically making a forum, inside another forum. What's the point in that? The Flash forum is already made for people asking questions - and it's more organised than one thread.
