...Yeah I don't know how you did it, but if I saw this thread earlier I would've told you to get a screen-recorder like Camstudio and just record the .swf as it was playing.

I was listening to daps2urnaps by RedM or Redmongoose, or Juke Bottle Casino, or Red Man Ghost?

I have no idea what he likes to be called anymore.

...Anyway, I got this mad idea from the song, and I might possibly animate a flash on it.

Oh man, I remember playing Centipede when I was 5. Back in the day I'd spend... like, 10 minutes on it - then I'd start playing Raiden II, now THAT was where it was AT.

Total Recall is the one with Schwarzzegegerer in it isn't it? How can you possibly remake an Arnie film without Arnie?

Can you inherit artistic talent? I guess your case is like when a couple with super powers have a kid and there's a slight chance he'll be powerless.

Sky High?

I opened up Photoshop and started drawing blankly - no idea, no eraser, no brush alterations - and this is what I came up with.

It has potential. I guess now it's up to you not to mess up the colouring/clean-up.
Is there a particular reason it's scribbly? Or is that simply because it's a WIP?

Response to: Layer Shading Posted July 15th, 2009 in Art

You should start with real life objects as opposed to anime. Logically, the shading in all anime is imposed by someone elses perception of light and shade, so technically if you copy the style of something that doesn't actually exist in reality, then you're learning nothing.

Closest I got was teaching my friends in school because I knew more than the teachers who were 'qualified to teach after taking a 2 week course'. Didn't enjoy it though, never liked being bombarded with questions, especially simple ones.

'Google it' is a legitimate answer in my world.

I'd say this is your #1 problem.

Other than that, I'd say practice until you develop your own shortcuts. Generally speaking, the more you work with Flash, you develop skills and shortcuts which will inadvertently speed up production.

I don't think the symbols will affect your file size enough for you to notice, also I approve your method.

The closest to a subject like that I got to choose from was SDD, IPT or IST. Funny thing was that all of those were cut so I had to choose annoying subjects like Economics, and Business Studies. So no, I'm not looking forward to school.

Default is 550 x 400. You should probably work about 2-300 within/out of those dimensions.
It probably won't fix your problem, but can you take a screenshot, or upload it to Spamtheweb so we can take a look at it.

I have finally developed a style of which looks half decent and more importantly I'm considerably comfortable with.
I don't know how it is in other countries, but for my final year of art, we're supposed to make one final piece over an entire year. I'm planning of doing something in the same vain as this piece.

Response to: streaming sounds - reccommended? Posted July 8th, 2009 in Game Development

Streaming should be used for music, or long sounds. Event should be used for sound effects or short sounds that only last a matter of seconds.
Though some people would tell you to mix your music in a separate program and have it as one sound file and stream that.

Requires the final background, and the protruding light coming from behind the tree, then we should be right.

It's good, but I believe the lighting's off - unless I'm looking at it wrong? I'm guessing it should be coming around from the bottom left of the frame, but some of the shading negates that theory.
