Response to: The Call Of Duty 4 Clan Headquarter Posted July 7th, 2008 in Clubs & Crews

Hi, I'd like to join. I play on the PC version. I can't remember my rank as I havn't played in a short while but I want to join a clan so I will play it more. I believe I'm lvl 25 but I could be wrong. I play a lot of FPS's so I'm rather good at them. My main game is CS and CSS so I picked up on CoD4 quickly PLUS playing all the original CoD's haha.

I only have the button selected. Its called Button and it IS a button lol. It's within a movie clip. This is what I did
I took two symbols and converted them into a movie. Then I went into the movie used those same 2 symbols and converted them into a button. I select JUST the button and press F9 and it says I can't use AS. Maybe I'm doing something wrong I don't know. Thanks for being patient while I try and sort this out.

Response to: Flash help Posted June 19th, 2008 in Game Development

I did that and I still get errors, here are the pictures. This is what happens when I click the BUTTON and try and put in the code:

Response to: Flash help Posted June 19th, 2008 in Game Development

I understand the states of the buttons. I've been using flash awhile now, but CS3, it has changed some things around. On what state do I put this action scrip. Thanks.

Response to: Flash help Posted June 19th, 2008 in Game Development

I'm not entirely sure how. Could you possibly explain? Thanks

Response to: Flash help Posted June 19th, 2008 in Game Development

Ok, I understand for the most part however, the AS you gave me produces errors. The on {release} part.
I even changed it to AS 2.0 AND AS 3.0 and it still gave me the bad syntax error.

Response to: Flash help Posted June 19th, 2008 in Game Development

I'm not quite sure if I follow, I'll try and do that but I'm still a little confused on what to do. Thanks though :)

Flash help Posted June 19th, 2008 in Game Development

I am using Flash CS3. What I want to happen is:

I have a button on the scene with a movie on the Down keyframe.
I want to be able to click and ON RELEASE, play the movie without having to hold the mouse button down... as of right now, you have to hold the left mouse button down in order for it to play. I have tried several websites and used some AS 2.0 and AS 3.0. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks! I'll have to try that out sometime. My client decided to just go with a simple line when mouse is over. Piece of cake. But for any future work I'll do, I'll definitely check that out.

Actionscript help Posted May 22nd, 2008 in Game Development

I need help with some actionscrip. I have three links. I want a line to appear underneath the link when I have the mouse to hover over the link THEN when I move to the next link or another link, the line follows and changes to the appropriate color that corresponds with the link. I can do tweens to accomplish this to a certain extent, but if I wanted to go from the 3rd link to the first link, the line would just "appear" there without smoothly moving from the 3rd to the 2nd, then finally resting on the third. I know I do not have this worded very well as I'm not quite sure how to word it or else I would have Google'd it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Response to: Re-Centering movies and graphics Posted May 20th, 2008 in Game Development

Thank you very much. I remember now that you answered my question. I've used that technique awhile back but I'm having to get re-aquianted with it again so I have forgotten. I ended using the rulers and lines to re-align everything once I moved it. Painstaking but it got the job done.

Cheers

I noticed after I created a good bit of my intro page that its not centered. How can I re-center everything without disturbing the tween orientations. As you know, when you move something and there is a tween involved, it will cause it to move to that location and have some wacky and undesirable effects. If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers

I like it. The coloring is great. Not sure what to think about the cheeks but its not negative. Neutral at most. It's got character.

Oh, come on. You could argue that about any piece of dump slapped together in five minutes. And, you also said its about all skill levels, well, a little effort would be nice. Whoring filters wont save a bad drawing.

As for 'cunt-structive' criticism, make the lines more defined. In your original sketches, i can't tell what the hell is going on, take more time drawing the lines, considering the simple geometric formation.

I think you fail to see that these have turned into 3d models no? I am not worrying about the drawing I did. It is a CONCEPT!!!! jeez. I COULD spend more time on the concept but why when I'm already working on the actual scene. That would mean to go backwards and I do not plan to do that. And its not "whoring" filters. Filters are there for their own reason. Learn to think before you write something all wrong. Yes I'm new to Newgrounds but NO am I new to art, 3d and any of the sort. I want positive mature constructive criticism. Notice it spelled correctly!! Thank you all for your positive criticism and help. It is definitely not going unnoticed. I will work on this piece this weekend.

Response to: Lead Engaged Posted April 9th, 2008 in Art

Well that's the shaders doing that so its ok. I am fine with that small bit. Yeah, I plan to make this epic! haha. If even that is possible for a pencil and eraser.

Update

Lead Engaged

Response to: Lead Engaged Posted April 9th, 2008 in Art

It's the toon shading. The background isn't the focal point so that's ok. I plan to put more detail into it. I will make this out to be a very short comic... ish thing lol.

Response to: Lead Engaged Posted April 9th, 2008 in Art

that will help, but the reason it looks so amateurish to me now is because of the use of shapes that look premade and the line tool...and the complete lack of shading, making it look flat and dull.

Ok. here is a new update. let me know what you think.

An update.

Response to: Lead Engaged Posted April 9th, 2008 in Art

It was the shader I was using. I have modified it so it looks better now. I am going to add more detail as well as a background and floor and what not. It won't look so amateurish soon.

for me, this is first year. as in: the first year you draw, if you venture outside of stick figures, it will look like this at one point.

wow you suck. I'm drawing this how I WANT it to look.
you want it to have unsure lines, awkward personification, and shaky perspective?

I'll post in a min what I've been working on.
we'll shut up (or scream louder, it depends) when we see the finished project. we're not trying to tell you to stop, merely to keep doing stuff, but... with more effort.

Thank you. You gave a more mature response. it is a mere vision of what I want done. Just a concept so yes, it will suck. The finished product is what I'm going for. Ok. I'm going to post what I have so far.

Ok. I rarely draw. It took longer than 5 min as I don't draw that much. This thread isn't about professional drawings. it's about all kinds of skill levels.
well to me it looks like something you whipped up in about 5 minutes, which is not good at all. rarely drawing is not an excuse. i hardly ever draw these days, but i don't forget what ive already learned and revert to basic third grade art!

You think this is 3rd grade art?!?! wow you suck. I'm drawing this how I WANT it to look. I'll post in a min what I've been working on. I'm looking for citique, not bullshit.

learning and pushing boundaries will only make you a better (or more technical) artist.

You got this all wrong. I know how to do all that. I am just doing this for my own particular style. I'm doing how I want it to look. Thanks anyway. I like to use different mediums for my work. I just don't stick to one. If you mix, you get your own style. I'm doing it toon style render with Mental Ray. With the photoshop'ed eyes and other various parts. You won't be able to tell the difference. It's not a "lazy" way around it. It's just the way I want it.

Lead Engaged Posted April 9th, 2008 in Art

This is something I'm working on. I am home sick today and got this idea whilst in bed. I've already started to draw it. I'm doing it in 3ds max using Ink and Paint shaders. I will then take it into Photoshop and add the eyes and mouth and various other things.
