There are a million and one ways you can approach dance music. i think one of the main ways artists get good at dance is they listen to a lot of dance music, and try to emulate the mix and melodies of those songs. then they do it again. and again. and again.
when it comes down to it, its really all about putting in tons of hours of practice. mainstream dance is really, really simple. it truly is. that song seriously only took me like 7 hours, including recording with the vocalist.
that's because I've made so many dance songs I immediately know how to quickly and efficiently get the sound I want.
but it always wasn't like this. in 2008 i spent most of the years making crappy, poor sounding dance chune after crappy, poor sounding dance chune, beating my head against the wall wondering how to make it pro.
and make no mistake, I'm still not that good. the more i learn about music, the more i realize i haven't learned. honestly there were things I would have liked to do with that song but simply didn't have the expertise to pull off.
so to get started on the path to making pro sounding dance tracks, start listening to a lot of dance music, and simultaneously start making a lot of dance music with the goal of getting as good as possible. this means you stop caring about how good each individual track looks and start looking at the general picture of how effective you are at getting the dance sound you want.
I'm no different than when I started making music, except for the thousands of hours i've hunkered down in front of my rig churning out songs. That's really the biggest chunk of the pie.
so make your studio environment as comfortable as possible, and spend lots and lots of time producing music! Listen to songs you like and try to emulate the sound, the feel, everything else. don't try to look for individual tips and tricks to get good, because so many different aspects go into making a song that if you focus on only a few of them, you miss out on the bigger picture.
alright, dubstep has just entered a golden age with this song. wait for the drop
I wanna sound exactly like rob mayth

I will have to admit, I do realize that much of the audio community became a little peeved when hania won.
I felt a little tweaked, but thats wont stop me from posting my music on newgrounds. I love the website, I love the community, I love releasing my tracks for people to use in their flash movies, and when new musicians ask me where to post there stuff online, I say the newgrounds audio portal.
although the portal is not perfect, it is truly the best spot on the web to post your stuff.
so, until you guys really pump it up, its good enough for me, and I will continue to post my music
I don't think it goes said enough, because us musicians tend to fixate on the bad parts of things, the audio portal rocks, so Thank you guys for creating such a great place.
Hopefully if more of the audio community realizes that without you guys, we wouldn't have an audio portal in the first place, and they realize that even with its flaws its the best portal on the web, then you guys will actually be more motivated to improve it.
but until that moment happens, at least know that I appreciate the portal and will try to get more involved with the ng community, and continue posting my music.

KEYBOARD PROBLEMS
hey guys, my keyboard is starting to stick. when I press the buttons down, they sometimes stick and wont come up unless i release them. I pulled one off and saw a white residue on the underside of the keys.
does anyone know how to get my keyboard back to functioning condition?

I'm starting to think im not the only musician here who is pissed at the tank awards. all the shit weve been complaining about is finally starting to get to us and perhaps we will take some *gasps* action to getting some beneficial changes!!!!

saw a hands up song by dj splash on youtube with 3 million hits. it had "the four" generic dance chords, in a rather professional mix and composition/production
the first youtube comment I read was "im so baked and i dont know why but this song is blowing my mind"
gentlemen, we have found out the solution to hitting it big in the techno industry
