Sure it might be a bit more annoying to see a user constantly making a thread for every little thing he wants to talk about.
In regards to new people coming, they will be as it always was, someone comes in suggesting a collab they cannot actually make, or asking for some kind of art to be done or why aren't they scouted.
This small trickle of new people will probably be turned off, because of regulars who form close a knit group. If anything if some of these people stick around it'll be because some of the semi-regular people encourage the new people to stay, and in general it'll just create an alternate group of regulars who will have different philosiphies and as a whole will probably slowly but surely create a rift that will cause some of the current regulars to retire and the rest to be somewhat bitter and nostalgic for the times before this.
If this is anything like the forums I used to frequent
I tried out general yesterday... big mistake. It reminds me of the first time I went to 4chan out of curiosity...

True true, and what's the vampire talk all about? I'm not missing out on a meme am I?

I'm not much for writing but I have quite a few ideas (pretty close to amalgamations of things I've seen/read).
Here's a rough first chapter I wrote

It's pretty wordy so bear with me. Do you think it has potential? In what way can I improve?

What do you mean?
It's a drawing of my character and some poorly drawn trees, I have it because I draw and I want you to know that.

Nope, and especially not the sparkly kind
Mainstream sounding? What's the underground/indie sound?
I'm part of a three piece band and each of us draws and animates, and as such we are going to pretty much create an animated music video for each of our songs. But! Which of our songs should we do first?
Here's a few of our songs, these three are fully recorded and can be heard on our facebook and youtube pages along with a few other songs we have.
Allisa , Back Around, and Corso. You can like us/subscribe to us if you'd like (I'd like it). I think the one with the most votes will be the first video we start animating, if you listen to our other songs and think they should be animated first then go ahead and say that song title instead.
I hope this is the right place for this thread haha

Ugly drawing I'm doing for some person (in exchange for them liking my bands facebook profile...) it's ugly and it sucks and I hope they like it so I can smile all evilly knowing I got away with drawing and colouring with 20% of my true power

We should collab on a drawing or do an art trade. Also, I agree

I'm fairly certain I know what happened but eh...
The song that sums up the day is Bohemian Rhapsody
It's funny how overly positive this thread became, it's radiation is almost unavoidable.

That's probably true

Just anything woulda sufficed, I mean I can understand your reaction but I feel like it was a bit unbecoming. Then again the fall out wasn't exactly much of an adult move on our part.
I meant that I thought that rule was made to show you read the rules, so if you did start with an image it was like a secret code saying you did actually read them.
I'm not trying to imply anything, just letting you know what I thought.
I dunno, I don't see that particular rule as antiquated
For the record, I coulda swore the question was answered, I also figured that even if it was a trivial rule to post a picture in the beginning it was proof positive that you READ THE RULES.
I don't think of the forums the same way as Stamper proposed, yes there is a small group of regulars (as I've seen in every forum in my life thusfar), but the forums seemed to be:
a place to discuss a specific artist's improvement and ways to do such
a place to organize collaborations
a place where artistic forum games are created
a place where artists mingle (a la forum lounge)
and a place where art related questions are answered as long as you prove you read the forum rules (i.e. the picture to start a thread).
I do think it's somewhat obtuse for the author of the rules to just disregard them, and edit them on a whim. If the rules were outdated and he planned to update them, I'd think a formal sticky would do instead of making the management look petty as is how I see it so far.
Just putting my opinion out there.

Art discussion, discuss the art and how discussing it is necessary for functional discussion without necessarily posting a picture of art to function the forums for art of newgrounds hereto wherein the art discussion forums neigh, the art forums exist.
