My first animation since high school: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/56 0711
Kinda a warm up for the Tarot Card animation me and Rocky (RockArtOfWar) are doing. I just like frame by frame. It's more fun by fun.

Also, no wait, no and then.

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted January 29th, 2011 in Art

Oh thanks you guys, early birthday love from the art forums feels...so...good

Also, I made this animation in a week, go blam it http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/56 0711

I'm proud that I could do it without a storyboard and such, pretty much just frame by frame on two layers. If y'all know how to make it stop and stuff that'd be super helpful

As far as I know Ninjar has had Death dibsed for a while now, and though he (she?) hasn't posted a WIP here in the thread since page 7 or 8, he (she?) may be in direct contact with Knocturne, otherwise Death would have already come up for grabs.

Ninjar and I have been PMing, it kinda fell out of use, and needs a bit of updating but on my page there's a blog that states what's up for grabs. Currently, to my knowledge everything is taken though.

I've got an idea, but I'm lagging it on my collab and a little tied up. Hopefully I can participate.

No no, sorry Jack but you lost your dibs, I'm sorry but from when you posted your WIP back on the 27th of December I gave you til the 2nd and then extended it til the 11th to notify me or post a WIP to keep your card.

The point of the system is to try and keep things moving, and give people a shot at doing cards when the people who dibsed them fail to keep up. It's kinda messed up but that's how I chose to organize the collab and I can only be so lenient.

Response to: The Tarot Card Collab! Posted January 24th, 2011 in Art

Mmkay, well I'm just gonna go ahead and say again that if you want to keep a card, you either contact me via PM just to say you're keeping it or you gotta post a WIP by your third day of calling dibs.

Oh snap, you're right. When I look at a gallery of an artist, sometimes I click other people's names or what that artist favorites and somehow I got to that guy. In my review of the piece I posted the model's face that they used, I mean. To me, the face is the same, but they drew a full body, which could have been referenced from something else, but yeah I did notice some problems in the picture also hehe

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted January 23rd, 2011 in Art

What's everyone's position on using a reference and the fineline when you have to judge whether it's referenced or traced?

I was perusing through Knockwurst (totally not because it's similar to Knocturne)'s gallery and found multiple people siting that he referenced or posibly traced an image, I of course looked at the link and it's quite a match.

Now, the things that bothered me is
A: He got a lot of attention for a job well done
B: People voted the citings as useless
C: He never mentioned the fact he referenced anything or even replied to the comments saying he did or didn't

How do you feel about that? Do you think it's an artist's obligation to say "Yeah, I used a reference for this" and possibly link the reference or it doesn't matter any which way?

Also, what about referencing yourself and such or the degree to which you reference, whether it's how to draw a hand or a full figure in garb drawn as seen?

Here's the picture in question http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/sunny rays/sunshine

Wrong Ash, I've had plenty of critiques voted useless here no matter how much suger and honey I dumped into how I phrased what I thought. At first of course, it's because I came off like a jerk, but even my slightly helpful things like "Haha this is awesome, maybe work on the lighting though it's funky!" gets voted useless.

I think I've got the best critiques in my thread here though...I attribute my growth to that thread and my general competitive nature. Not to have a "better drawing then you" but because I want to surpass the"you" in this equation in skill.

Blah, well, don't let this one guy's opinion on your fractals cause you to get huffy and leave.

I'd say you're just as pig-headed. I said why I don't like fractals then you looked down at me saying I am just incapable of seeing what's obvious. I only responded with my chest out because you did so.

Hopefully, you step away from your fractals to see what I'm saying or perhaps you'll prove me wrong.

Work in progress for my friend Sci-Fi's second episode to his flash series, Sleepless. It's gonna be of two of the protagonists, Ascent and Toma. I'm using references for these, trying to really pull a more realistic image, not photorealism, but something closer than what I usually do.

At 1/19/11 02:03 PM, Chronamut wrote: You look at art and only see what you think is obvious. Art is about interpretation, and appreciation of form. If you fail to see that in my works then that saddens me, but there isn't much I can do about it.

Kay so art is defined as the SKILL and IMAGINATION in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments or experiences that can be shared with others.
This means you need both SKILL and IMAGINATION. Now when I see your fractals, sure you explained what they mean but IF YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN WHAT PEOPLE ARE MISSING IN THE ART THEN YOU ARE LACKING THE SKILL TO DISPLAY THEM PROPERLY. To pull the "If you can't see what I was trying to do then you make me sad" card is the culmination of what many "artists" do that tick me off. It's not MY fault you couldn't display what you wanted to convey properly. Maybe if I was the only one who felt this then it would be my fault, otherwise it means you need to WORK ON YOUR STUFF.

Don't tell me what art's all about in such a vague and fitting manner for the purpose of your arguement. I say it looks random and unplanned, that's not an evaluation at random that was me interpretting and appreciating the form. It was what was obvious to me. Just giving your piece a "pretty cool" name doesn't mean it'll help me find the meaning and how about if I never played Final Fantasy 7? Would your intention still be obvious?

No, it wouldn't. So, instead of going "You just can't see what I'm doing, so sad." Why not improve on your art so everyone can see what you're trying to do. This doesn't go for just you, but for me, and everyone who picks up the proverbial pencil and sketches on the metaphorical bristol paper.

I see fractals the way I see making a collage or a house with popsicle sticks or something. Most people do the most basic form of what is expected.

If people pushed fractals to seem less like random things then I might like them. Chromaut yours seem like you made a random thing then decided (I'm gonna put it in space) I'd appreciate like someone making a photorealistic face with fractals or one of those narrative/emotional images otherwise to me fractals fall under that catagory of just random and or pretty picture with no meaning.
