That is quite literally one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen.

Wow, the day me and Aigis agree on something.

I applaud your arts Lux, your style is so delightful

Response to: Pencil/Paper vs. Tablet/Photoshop Posted April 26th, 2011 in Art

Lux is right in a lot of ways, but my suggestion is that you try it out, play with it a bit, there's the fact you'll have to learn and keep in mind that Photoshop, there's SAI, Gimp and a myriad of other programs. Each one works a bit differently too. But you'll probably find that once you're comfortable with using a tablet that your style or methods might be different (this is from personal experience).

Also, erasure and smudges and tears are part of the drawing process and you should just consider it something to anticipate.

But yeah, I was rambling a bit

Update of the Icarus, I don't really know what key words to look up to get good references of how skin and feather look with the sun nearly behind the object

My band's songs all take place in this universe, and they are all connected (probably because of the universe thing) and this guy is the central character in a four part story arc but more specifically the song called Ghost. We're probably gonna record this song today and this isn't how he'll end up looking in the end most likely.

Mmm, should the Tarot Card Collab be finished and how do I go about reviving it if it is worth salvaging. Lastly, who wants to code it and stuff

Response to: ~Kashi's Art Thread~ Posted April 24th, 2011 in Art

Wow Kashi, you really improved since I waas last here, your line art is much better, more stylized and your coloring is much stronger and confident.

I like it a lot

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted April 24th, 2011 in Art

I was gonna talk about it in stickam but the chat room is gone!

Response to: My Comic Book Posted April 24th, 2011 in Art

For the story's content? Not really. Questioning your orientation at the age of puberty isn't too impossible and even if it was the story isn't really anything spectacular, so based on that fact she wouldn't get published because her story is boring (no offense) and her art needs work.

Response to: My Comic Book Posted April 24th, 2011 in Art

It must be weird since it's different from yours.

I was fricken going through puberty, most peple do around that time 10-12.

Am I reading this comic wrong, is Courtney trying to scissor Kate I was only skimming but I don't remember them talking about sex. And even if they were, in manga people are dating and falling in love and being like 6'0 tall and still supposed to be in middle school, so who cares?

I wasn't but I did have a few friends who turned out to be gay. But they didn't start questioning themselves til maybe 11 or 12 so you have a good point...

Response to: My Comic Book Posted April 24th, 2011 in Art

When I was ten, me and my friends would rate which girl was the best looking and a lot of my class had become couples which included holding hands.

My problem with your work is when I went through the first page I was interested and felt like you had something fun and different, but then I noticed it was just always the same kinds of faces and such.

Worse is only a few of these feel finished to me. I enjoy your technique, as does most of the people here apparently, but I'd like to see some different concepts in your work, some scenes, backgrounds, provocative themes. You can portray facial expression quite well, so I'd like to see how well you can incorporate body language and everything else mentioned.

Maybe that kind of drawing isn't your cup of tea, or maybe you touched on this and I haven't read it yet, but it's what I think.

Response to: Knocturne's Art Posted April 24th, 2011 in Art

That's very true Riot, partly because I can't find a middle ground between realism and cartoon-ism(?) for the way I draw anime. Like I tried to portray the shiny texture of the shoes in one of my Goggles drawings, the one with the spats (the shoes) and apparently people thought that I copy pasted an image of shoes. Then there's my lack of actually thinking about the textures. For the Icarus one I'm going to try with your comment in mind.
Oh and this one is actually the done one, not that it does anything besides help prove your point haha

Response to: Tracing our artistic origins!! Posted April 24th, 2011 in Art

I had made this side by side comparison of the same character at different stages. The left side is when that character East was new, my first forray into photoshop and one of the earliest incarnations of East.

Before this era I pretty much drew whales though I can't find any remnants of that time.

Response to: What's highschool like in terms Posted April 22nd, 2011 in Art

You went to a suck school Von, in my art classes in highschool I learned to animate, I learned the basic rules of proportions, how lighting effects an object how to experiment with colors blah blah blah

But yeah, as an artist in highschool, if you're in art classes then the experience is an ongoing competition of who's the best artist and the people who don't do art but see you doodling in math of course are gonna love you and ask the inevitable "Can you draw me?"

In terms of how many good artists there arem well it's highschool, so unless your Fifty-50 there's not that many actually great artists to be had at that age, I sucked and continue to suck as an artist and I'm twenty-two. There's no census that exists to count how many kids in highschool consider themselves artists.

On that note, it's pretty presumptuous in my opinion for people who draw as a hobby to consider themselves an artist because the idea of being an artist in the past has always been associated with a mastery of a technique(s) but the term lost it's previlege nowadays so anyone who draws a pretty good Goku is an artist now.

Maybe, but each time I step away from the community I come back to a more cynical one haha
So it's more like a family reunion where people get more and more punch drunk... eh no more similes for me since I am drunk at the moment...

Kay I'm gonna just go to sleep

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted April 22nd, 2011 in Art

Yeah, definitely a more abrasive nature in the community. That aside, it's there's still a refreshing quality to see familiar faces even though it feels like I was returning home and they built a Startbucks where my home was.

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted April 22nd, 2011 in Art

The forums are way more cynical or funny than I remember. At least some of the cynicism is funny but at the same time it's also annoying.

Response to: Shania's art thread Posted April 22nd, 2011 in Art

I don't dislike your work, but I'd say you need to learn the human form, draw some things other than people and then get into digital mediums, and once you've got all the basics a bit firmer you draw in any style you want.

I took the head of a different Goggles drawing and drew a whole knew body. Despite how effeminate I makehim whenever I post him on DA the girls all swoon. So maybe all girls on DA are actually guys and they like Goggles because they wish he had boobs.

Also, I wear the outfits I draw on him

Thanks 50 but I missed you more AND you grow so fricken fast at art I am burning with jealousy

Also Spags, perhaps, perhaps

Here's something I drew a few days after my cats died(they died on the same day), the one on the left died first and the one on the right waited at the spot it died til it was hit by a car too. I miss them still actually. Oh now I'm feeling sad haha

I drew it to kind of help myself and mourn their deaths though I wish I could have done a better job
