4.09 / 5.00 12,195 ViewsI've been doodling and sketching a little more seriously lately, and I look back to the first page of my art thread and wonder if I've grown enough to abandon that thread.
Have I? Personally my art looks the same if not worse than before, what do you think?
Personally, I have a concept or idea first, then I sketch it out if it's not too difficult, otherwise I usually take a picture of myself doing the pose (especially if it's something I can't describe and find on google without going through a gagillion pages) then I work it up.
Like Jive said your life drawings are quite good, you have a real observant eye. I would use that natural strength to my advantage (plus my favorite comic artist, Alex Ross, does it all the time).
One of her arms is longer than the other and that kinda bothers me, I think the other problem areas would be her neck and as mentioned her head, this could be remedied with more references when drawing, until you feel comfortable not using references or something aside from that, I love the hair.
I don't use colored pencils or paints because I'm color blind and last time I tried to paint a guy, I was using red thinking it was brown because the paint bottle was unmarked.
Where do you go to take an accurate IQ test? Like, a MENSA building?

I got an IQ of 132, I do like to believe it's accurate but... it's from the web, fun test though

MY extra long proposal got ignored, we are in similar ways.
My band is doing an art book, to be the first in a series, revolving around our song Alissa. The gist of the story is that a young girl during a sci-fi war era creates an imaginary world in her mind (much like Alice) and escapes into it, but the imaginary world is no better than her real world and she comes back to reality and good times are had by all.
The way the proposed series would work is in that all of our songs are connected and take place in the same universe at three different time periods and each music video, art book or animation would be placed in one of the three eras which are:
The Alissa era (the era of war, where everything is on the same planet)
The Bounty era (where the people of this world are into space travel, and space pirates are abound)
The Vampire era (life on the planet has ceased to be, sans one of the survivors of the Alissa era and while space travel still persists and other worlds have been colonized the focus is more on the dead planet)
While trying to begin work on the Alissa book we fell through a few holes, most of which were due to us playing shows or practicing extensively and we've gotten very little progress in regards to the book aside from the first page being done. So, we were talking about possibly reaching into the art forum to get y'all to collaborate, send participating members a copy of the book and some form of commission (possibly).
Basically, I'm asking whether or not there'd be any willing members who'd like to contribute art, but we're looking for a children's book style of work, so you'd have to compromise to some extent in regards to that, and I ask because I'm lacking credibility due to the Tarot Card collab kinda being unfinished and not being worked on because of the band things.
So, who's interested?

That explains a lot
And Luwano, I guess the context is part of why that movie excites everyone wearing a beret. I like the book so much more, but then again people don't like Kubrick's super slow as molasses style of directing, so that could be it too.
I've seen all those, but what does an alien bursting through your belly, a suitcase full of yellow lights, a boy with psychic powers, a shark biting an airplane and Bruce Willis have to do with my penis?

Nice one, I think you told me this last time I was looking for animated things to watch, good movie either way.
No, I loved Fooly Cooly and Panty & Stocking With Garter Belt.
I don't sit around analyzing everything logically even if common sense dictates logic has no bearing. I just didn't like the show. The one guy's phrase to believe in the him that believes in the other guys was irritating to me, I didn't like how some parts were very well animated and some were average or below average. I didn't really like the mech designs, or how they went on with the interesting story idea.
I didn't like the chick in the bra giving the kiss of death to the one guy I liked or the character tropes built into the show, which didn't seem to fit to me.
It was just an alright show at best, I think, with my mind as objective as possible, I don't see anything in particular that was unique to the show (I mean over-the-top-ness exists in pretty much every anime and so do the characters) it was just meh.
But to be fair, my favorite manga/anime are: Mushi-Shi, Death Note, King of Thorn, Parasyte, Akira, Cyborg 009, Jing: King of Bandits and stuff like that.
Short version: It was bland to me, but the hype and my general taste made it even less appealing than normally thought.
Yeah but you know when you already know something isn't for you? You just don't buy into the humor, the action, the horror etc. This was that for me. I watched the whole series despite this assuming maybe it would get better (for me) but it didn't
Your work is consistently awesome, but personally, your gundams are weirdly thin and kinda (psuedoanatomically) off looking, like the metal is bending weird in some places, I dunno.
No offense Kashi but Gurren Lagaan sucks so much D; throwing galaxies at eachother, all of the galaxies were spiral galaxies... I couldn't buy into the show, kept rationalizing it, too dumb for me.
Saw all those already Aigis, thanks for trying though
Tre: Wasn't trying to make you feel bad, just saying getting huffy over similar things is kinda lame. Like my bear and the Radiohead bear, 'cept mine is better because I made the doll and fixed it up after my dog chewed it up and then drew it how it looked with the fixing.
/rant Vexons are cool or I wouldn't have drawn so many and posted one.
Also, looking for a really good underappreciated animated movie(s) to download, name some good ones.
Anything from Treasure Planet, to Grave of the Fireflies, to Persepolis. I'm more interested in very mindbending stories though.
Really, in all honesty, the Vexons are not THAT unique, at first I thought they were Spy Vs. Spy spies.
In general I don't think that unique races/characters are created often, most, if not all are amalgamations of other semi-unique things.
Like how House and Monk are heavily based on Sherlock Holmes.

This, because nothing is more of a turn off then someone who posts links to Deviantart. That's like telling people on facebook to check out your myspace, or people on blogger to check out your tumblr.
Anywho, upload something using the "Include Picture?" option stat before this thread becomes about how you're homosexual.
Kraig? Kraig...? KRAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does it rerally take three pages for everyone to agree this threads motives are alright, the source is questionable and ironic and that it's fun to make fun of people?
Well the filters could make it look more like a drawing of them...
But if you actually want to draw this and use the person as a reference, then it's just like Kashi said, you just spend a long time carefully drawing them.
In a world where we all had super powers, would you be a hero, villain, anti-hero, or what? And what kind of hero, villain or what have you would you be?
I'd be a villain, the kind of villain like Ozymandias of Watchmen, where my intentions are pretty good.
No it puts more strain on your knees, thus destroying the cartilage. At the very least, it can lead to arthritis, it's why you aren't supposed to run on the sand as training.
Better name for this thread is "How HiryuGouki wants to be critiqued, if he listened ot critique."
I like your style, I like how it's full but the details aren't completely fleshed out but you can still tell what everything is and stuff mmhmm
Well, in ancient times artists were as valued as someone who could bake, someone who could fight and what not and their art was only really made to celebrate victories, record events (like them victories) or for religious practice and art in general functioned that way for hundreds of years, I'd say it wasn't really until the fall of Rome and other ancient civilizations that art started becoming such an abstracted concept. And even more, it wasn't until the last forty to fifty years that "artists" have pouted and really blurred all lines to what it meant to be art or what it meant to be an artist.
I'd like to always think of an artist in the much more antiquated definition, as someone who is a master of art, and who makes art for a living.
Because you can't say "Oh I'm an accountant" and only been doing your own accounting for yourself, that's dumb artistry is a kind of job option.
I'd define art in the vague and antiquated way by saying it's the placement of objects to stimulate the senses, thought or emotion.
I'm pretty much ignoring the contemporary because I dislike contemporary art very much, and to cover myself, I don't consider myself an artist or my work art. Not really.
