You can upload stuff to your dump, swfs for example.
Thank you! so it's not possible to upload any wmv or quicktime files?

You need to get permission to upload movie files and even then it's .mp4 only (I believe) plus movies go right to the portal so movie upload is reserved for finished stuff. There's no way you can upload them toy our dump. You can still upload movies on youtube and embed the video in this thread.

Response to: Ubisoft Screws Everybody Over Posted February 13th, 2013 in Video Games

I don't get it. It is finished and now is the absolute perfect time to release it for the Wii U. The ports can come when they are done. There is literally no competition for Rayman Legends right now plus it was the first announced title for the Wii U. My guess is that certain other companies know how well it would sell as a timed exclusive for Nintendo and would rather see it getting slammed by GTA5 and others and thrown into the retail bin later this year, like a certain other game earlier.. what was it called.. oh right, Rayman Origins! This smells so much of money it disgusts me.

Ubisofts statements are also very hypocritical: They talk about how everyone on every platform should get a chance to play it, yet most of their recent titles have been released on every platform EXCEPT the Wii U.

Last but not least I strongly emphasize with Ancel and the devs here. They need to swallow this delay while working on the ports and maybe another demo. They put their love and passion into their creation for the past months and now they can't show it to the world for another seven. By the way.. seven months to remove features? Like stated above, they are probably getting paid so much for this nonsense that they disregard not only fans of the game but even their own artists. What tremendous amount of money would justify releasing a finished game half a year later on a way worse release time plus pissing off fans and your own employees?

I recommend you to give some more details to help convince people to work on it. Examples would be genre (so programmers know what they are getting themselves into), setting (no need to post the whole story, just what's necessary) and maybe even general art style (Pixels, vectors, 8-bit, 16-bit etc.).

Okay

Some criticism on the exploding ship: Considering it'll probably be flying forward while this happens the explosion should not go straight up but either more left or right depending on the type of explosion since the ship is moving.

Response to: why do so many people hate CoD Posted February 5th, 2013 in Video Games

Bear in mind that many people don't hate the game itself. Franchises like these are just horribly uninnovative and some gamers can't wrap their heads around how such a game can be so popular. They hate the fact that the popularity is undeserved (in their opinion).

The problem is that Bethesda doesn't really improve because the fanbase accepts their shortcomings. You could say The Elder Scrolls is about walking the road and not about reaching the end, but Mass Effect has this philosophy too and here everyone throws a fit over the ending.

The final moments of Skyrim.. oh hey a dragon.. that acts like all the others.. oh and there's a bunch of immortal npcs to help me.. great. Final battle aside the story was lackluster overall and played out exactly as you expected it - the worst kind of ending in my opinion.

It's just a matter of practice (in both drawing/anatomy and animating), you'll get more satisfying results eventually. With tweens you need to know what you're doing or it'll look unnatural.

If you have trouble coming up with stories just try something that doesn't require a plot for a while, like music videos etc. Forcing yourself to come up with a plot probably won't result in something decent. Original stories aren't made in factories, sometimes they just come to you.

Yeah i have but i can't get the technique right and the pages get in the way.
I need to get my hands on that book, i hear it's super helpful. Any other books you would recommend?

That's actually the only one I've read so far, the internet is full of great tutorials but sometimes it's nice to have a book in your hands.

It looks like a lot of animators use laptops to work on, the portability is nice but I just can't handle using a small 15" screen after having dual screens. I have even contemplated using a huge Lcd Tv screen.

I have a cooling board below mine and Flash never crashes. Now that I'm out of college though I need to get a tower pc since I can't use the render farms anymore. The screen size doesn't bother me actually.

Alot of animators could actually give you advice on that..

I wondering if people had any advice for finishing an animation in a half-assed manor while simultaneously making the animation look half decent.

Either tween the hell out of it or work on 2s and generally use less frames for movements when appropriate. It will look half-assed to other animators and movie makers but people who don't dabble in that field won't notice it as much. Good art can also save an otherwise barely animated movie depending on the audience. Just make sure your cartoon isn't just still art with mouths moving.

Anyways, since your deadline is over already how did it everything work out?
