Anyone? I remember it being on the front-page eons ago.
In more detail...
it was a monster rising from the ocean, and it had a close up of its eye, and during all of this chaos, Dio's 'Holy Diver' song was playing in bits. That's all I remember, but it was the inspiration of my short film in the making, J2 - The Metal Opera.
I'm just trying to find that source that started the inspiration.
I'm on the hunt, trying to remember the title of this flash animation.
It was an animation of a monster emerging through an ocean while the song 'Holy Diver' played. I don't remember the title of the animation!
It was made a while back (a few years ago).
If anyone remembers, post here!

what would be the best way to read in an animation sequence? as of right now, I have created a .obj loader and the only way it reads in animations is an array of .objs
any suggestions out there to read in animations that is better? I can recode my loader for most formats once I understand its structure.
Probably some clarification, probably what I'm looking for is the best fileformat to use and technique to translate movement instead of loading up an array of models completely independent from each other.

I've been a member for quite some time now, since 2003 / 2004 but when I created my account 'KlobMiester', I foolishly misspelled 'Meister' as 'Miester' (ya know flipping the whole i and e thing, but it's German so the rule didnt apply), anyway, it's been that way ever since.
I really don't want to create a brand new account, is there any way to have this modified by a single letter? or better yet (if even possible) changed entirely? But I'll gladly settle for the letter swap though...
So I'm on the hunt for a compiler / IDE that can compile for flash abut also be used to compile on Android and iOS, any suggestions?
I tried HaXe and there's just not enough support out there for it yet, and if you're tying to use it on Linux LOL good luck finding ANYTHING useful for it.
So, uhh... any suggestions?
That's right! A bunch of software engineers and myself just came across this article from AH here: http://www.androidheadlines.com/2013/09/google-starts-ban-plugins-chrome.html
Apparently Chrome is going to be dropping a lot of plugin support and one of them is going to be our old, trusty Flash in lieu of HTML5 and/or WebGL.
I honestly think it's time that Newgrounds START making a FIRM transition over to HTML5 / WebGL soon, I know we have a player now and Tom makes exceptions for some HTML5 games here or there, but there now needs to be a firm foot-down for this transition or Newgrounds is going to end up like the Dodo bird. Tasty. And extinct.
Lastly for tonight.
Here is another rendering done specifically for realism with 3D Studio MAX with some Blender as well (Personally, I am becoming more of a fan of Blender, with each new release!), This piece took a bit of time. It is kind of a 'knock off' Lord of the Rings, well, 'Ring'.
It's one ring to rule them all! For now...
One Ring to Rule Them All!
The second piece of tonight is a 3D rendering done in 3D Studio MAX of two awesome science fiction pieces, Doctor Who and DUNE. Personally I'm a fan of the 1984 version of Dune. If you know either, then great!
This piece is more of a desktop wallpaper...
Doctor Who - On Arrakis
Here is my first piece, it is a photo manipulation, I always thought that Walter from Breaking Bad always looked a little like Gordon Freeman...

Hello fellow tankmen! (and tankwomen).
I originally came to Newgrounds around 2004, and stopped in 2006 due to college. I've returned now that college is done!
It feels good to return to Newgrounds, although there have been many changes since 2004.
Anyway, I wanted to create this thread to showcase my work for open critique for the art page, I will be creating a critique page for the games and animation forums as well since I am a game programmer and artist; math and art man!
In the following replies I will be posting my pieces for open forum and critique. The first ones should be coming in shortly.
Thank you all.
...wow I just looked at the link and those earnings made me go cross-eyed haha. It's not like I'll be earning anywhere near that but it's nice that they're able to make some nice pocket change over it ;)
But it's not about the money. It's about the art!

Thanks for the link!
And thanks everyone for their response. I've been digging around and looking up information myself.
I basically went on an 8-year hiatus from making content for Newgrounds because of college. Now that I'm done, I've been eagerly wanting to return to Newgrounds and create content again with a whole new skill-set.
Hey folks,
I created an account way back when in 2003, I did a few 3D animations back-when, then went to college and stopped the whole thing. Well, now that I'm all done, I would like to continue where I left off and start doing flash cartoons again as well as games.
I wanted to know through you guys and your experiences, how much on average does a person make via Newgrounds per animation, if, like lets say it does well or hits the front page.
I suppose the same could go for the games section too.
Any advice would be great. I want to gear towards this medium, I have a tiny crew with me that can produce this, so this is why I'm curious to know.
Thanks guys!

also apparently back in 07-08 the higher ups decided they wanted to expand their audience which hasn't worked
Huh, expanded?
If its the drawings and other still-like artwork....yeah, it hasn't really caught on.
Just keep it to what it is. Films and some games. Mostly films :)
Well, I've been on Newgrounds since 2004, I'm still staying on till the bloody end.

As an animator, I just see a shift in animated entries.
For example there used to be a lot more frequent changes to the front page of newgrounds (in my opinion) than there are now. More collaborative efforts for films as well.
I'm talking about the content in general. Yes, I understand Youtube has become the 'go to place' for just about anything that's video/film/animation and more, but what I'm wondering is if Newgrounds has changed their policies for those who make collaborative films (such as pay out for advertisements for their films). Folks like Egoraptor and Oney really don't post anything here anymore and if they do, it's a long time.

Has the content of this website changed a bit since the 'big update' in the Newgrounds website.
Now, some people said, 'Oh you'll get used to the new web page update' and frankly, I haven't personally. It still feels really cluttered. Granted change is good, but I'm wondering if the new design is just turning people off.
Simple is good in design, this website isn't as simple anymore, maybe some users are getting some information overload because of it? Not sure.
None the less, back on topic. I'm feeling that the content of this website has changed a lot. It's not the same anymore, and I can't put my finger on it...
I just don't like the way it's arranged in general. It's all so 'shoved together'.
I've been on Newgrounds since late 2003 early 2004, and I've loved this place for such a long time, but this is the first time in which I actually think that I could just walk away from this. It's just that ugly.
Tom Fulp and the rest of the Newgrounds team, consider doing a re-redesign. Follow your older style and space things out more appropriately, also dont shove so much into people's faces in regards to design. :/
Ya'know, at first I thought the redesign was awesome! then the more I'm on here, the more I realize that this redesign is just WAY too cluttered. There's just too much going on and the arrangements of the videos are just so compacted next to each other. It's actually turning me away from Newgrounds...
I'm not saying the old design was amazing, but this one is almost as if Tom and the team tried WAY too hard. To the Newgrounds team. 'KISS', Keep It Simple, Stupid.
I also CANNOT stand the new star system for rating! It's so ambiguous! I preferred the number scale because at least then it was accurate. I could determine whether a film that was rated at 9.1 was not as good as one rated at 9.5 or 9.6
Four stars plus a sliver of a 5th tells me nothing.
Ugh, done ranting for now.

Thanks for the great information. I'll be able to get started with this! As for AS questions, I'll take it to the other forum if I have any further questions regarding it.
Thanks a bunch!
Hello folks,
I'm a software engineer and game designer. Been practicing game design for about 14 years now, however I've really never made any games for sites like Newgrounds (e.g. flash games).
I used to be on newgrounds to post my little 3D animations (I do have an artistic background) however now, I'd like to return to Newgrounds and post some of my video games that I can create.
I know C, C++ and Java as well as all of their derivatives, so Action Script will be no challenge, especially if it's so close to Java.
I'd like to know if there are any opensource IDEs out there that focus on Action Script (with its compiler as well). I just would like to know the best way to start with as many options as possible.
Then hopefully I can port my graphics engine to this and make some really fun stuff~!
Er, 2004, not 2003. Basically the same account though.
I had some old flash work here in Newgrounds in 2003, basically when I was in high school. I've since lost those old flash files. I wonder if somewhere, out there, there is a database where they store old blammed flash submissions.
If not, I can totally understand, it's kind of an extreme question.
Thanks folks!
So this is a new show I created for the local dorming network at CSULB as well as youtube. This video is called 'season1' and is a compilation of all of our old videos from over 5-6 years ago. The new stuff will be written even funnier since our writing skills have VASTLY improved. Tell me what you guys think about the show, constructive criticism (how I could make this show better), question and comments. Please, I need to hear your voices to make this odd TV show better. Thank you!

"Deep from the old archives comes the Triple-S club! This first video represents season 1 of our show. The first season was shot over 5 years ago and then kept on a tape. Over time the tape deteriorated and it was time to save it. In the saving process a brilliant idea came to me, why not make the show like we wanted to those many, many years ago? So we did! Not only that but the show WILL be continued! A new season of this historic show from Cow-Town Tulare is returning!"
