I would like to join the club. Can I?
I like your reviews. You have a very unique style in that your reviews are brief, but they cut straight to the point. I'd say yes, you can join the club and I'm sorry that I didn't see your first request. What perplexes me is why you chose to call me out in particular.
Anyway, just because you're in the club, doesn't mean you can get lazy. In fact, what I'd challenge you to do is to expand your horizons. Looking at your reviews, I see that you're primarily a movies and games kind of reviewer. That's all well and good, but what I saw in your art and audio reviews were more lacking in quality. There wasn't nearly as much detail or structure like what I found in your game and movie reviews. Now while having a particular thing you do or don't review well is okay, it's consistency that matters. If you review more of something, you'll soon establish a style for reviewing that sort of thing like you have with games and movies already.
To reestablish, yes you are invited into the club, congrats! Try to do more reviews in unknown territory, that's the only way you can improve. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
Welcome to the club!

Your reviews are good within their own right, they have their own unique style to them, but I feel that you're way too vague and don't go into enough detail with what you're trying to say. I looked at your movie reviews and a lot of them were barely one sentence long. What's worse is that you barely said anything in them. Aside from a small bit of praise you would mention that the art was good, but not why the art was good or why you thought it was good. Mention all of that in your reviews. The more specific you can be, the more it will help the content creator.
If you need reference material, just look at any of the reviewers in the club like, Haggard,SCTE3,Decky,and Myself. I'm not saying that you should emulate any style or ranking system, but the level of specificity in those reviews is what you should strive for. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
Top 3 BABYYYYYY! I hope everyone does their best and review what they can!
It really depends on what you mean by "dying". Do you mean it in the sense that Mario is lacking originality? If that's the case, then yes. Mario is dying. If you mean it in the sense that his games are no longer fun, then no. While they may be easy, they still retain the fun factor and gameplay that Mario became famous for. The easy things like the guides through the levels are there to get new people into the franchise.
While catering to diehard fans of can be good, Nintendo realizes that catering exclusively to diehard fans isn't a good practice. If they want to stay around, they have to invigorate and inspire other people to become fans. Because of this mentality, the new games act as sort of "introductory" Mario games to get people interested in playing their games without having to play the original SMB or SM64.

I didn't get any done either since I've been studying for my finals, I have one more to take tomorrow and I should have time to get content reviewed. Almost holiday break, wonder if it is for the rest of you and some of you also had finals to take?
You hit that one right on the nose.

Did you have another post before this one? You said "also" like you were continuing something. What is it? I agree with you, the game is mostly fun and anime cliches, but there are parts where the games go for a (slightly) darker turn than the rest of it. I think the assassin could enhance that.
As of late, I've been enamored with the No More Heroes series. I really like, among other things, the creative assassins fought throughout Travis's escapades. Because of this, I want to see ideas for different assassins either fought by or allied with Travis mostly as a fun experiment to test the creative capacity of the Newgrounds user-base.
My idea is an assassin that you don't fight right away or like you would with other fights where the villain has a monologue and the fight begins. Instead, the assassin would offer Travis a "last day of your life" scenario, where the two of them would go through various bucket list activities and then the fight begins. You'd get to see them grow as friends, making the fight much more personal and visceral when it finally happens.
As good a series as No More Heroes is, I can't believe (from my recollection) that the idea wasn't explored enough in the games. The games make it a point that at any time Travis could die because of his lifestyle, but it isn't really explored deeply because we're supposed to believe that Travis is content with death, but the fight could still serve to teach him about the impact of death and how any day really could be his last.
We also never got to see Travis have to kill one of his friends. He had moral qualms about killing women and hated the callous attitudes of the association and other assassins towards death, but we never saw him have to take on a friend which is a real shame because that could have opened up a whole other emotional passage way for Travis. Killing some faceless assassin would be easy, but once a face is attached to the name and Travis actually knows them, it would become much harder for Travis to kill them.
I'm thinking that the assassin would be of high rank for pacing sake. The heavier hitting assassins (both figuratively and literally) are normally higher rank because the player is already deeply invested in the game. I also think that the assassin would be rich because they're able to fund all of the extravagant wishes of their pursuer. I'm still not quite sure what the assassin would actually look like or what type of weapon they would use.
But enough about me, tell me about you. Specifically your ideas for a No More Heroes style assassin. The more detail the better. So get cracking!

Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but I don't think your reviews go in depth enough. Your game reviews act as a perfect example of this. You only write about one or two sentences in each review not talking much about the content aside from "it's fun". What you have to do is explain why you think a game is fun or at least provide examples of specific parts you find enjoyable and vice versa. It seems that you're more partial to audio reviews judging by the fact that you go more in depth with them, but even some of those are kind of vague. The same principle applies to those as well. Explain why.
My advice to improve your review can be summed up as such:
Firstly, expand your horizons. You do a lot of audio reviews, that's all well and good, but try to become more versatile with your reviews. Review more movies or games, maybe even an art piece. Pretty soon, you'll find a system that works and you'll be able to express your feelings towards things more eloquently.
Secondly, don't be vague. It's never good for anyone when you just say something without any sort of base. Saying something is bad without providing an example or pointing out a specific area for them to improve does nothing besides get people angry. Saying something is good without providing examples doesn't allow any improvement either, it's just fluff.
Try utilizing these tactics and review more things. Practice makes perfect!
Hello All. This thread is dedicated to the band Dance Gavin Dance and their related counterparts (e.g A Lot Like Birds, Emarosa, Secret Band, etc.). If you want to express your appreciation for these bands or any news or pictures about the bands you've seen you can do so here. If you want to join the club, just tell us a few of your favorite things about the band. Namely, your favorite singer (clean vocals), your favorite singer (unclean vocals), your favorite song by Dance Gavin Dance, your favorite album by Dance Gavin Dance, and how you got into the band along with anything else you would like to share.
Example:
Favorite Singer (clean vocals): Jonny Craig
Favorite Singer (unclean vocals): Jon Mess
Favorite Song: The Backwards Pumpkin Song
Favorite Album: Downtown Battle Mountain 1
I got into the band by hearing "It's Safe To Say You Dig the Backseat" on pandora and automatically fell in love with them.
Now that you know how to join, I have to lay down some ground rules to make sure the club doesn't end up in shambles.
Rules:
1. Obey the forum rules.
This one's self explanatory.
2. Don't be mean to each other.
Too often, when this band is discussed, it results in a flame war between who's better. I don't want that here. This is supposed to be a place for people to talk about a band they like, not for you to dish out hatred for someone.
3. Only talk about bands related to Dance Gavin Dance.
This is the Dance Gavin Dance club for a reason. As an example, you can't talk about We Came As Romans unless it somehow relates to Dance Gavin Dance. (e.g: one of the members of DGD joined the band, you're comparing DGD to said band, etc.)
4. Have fun.
What's a club without the fun? Nothing, that's what.
FAQ:
Q: Why is this called the Dance Gavin Dance Club when you talk about other bands?
A: Firstly, Naming this the "Dance Gavin Dance/ Emarosa/ A Lot Like Birds Club/etc." would exceed the character limit. Secondly, it's a good way for people to get into different music that they probably wouldn't have looked into before.
Q: WHY DO U EX1ST!? U SHOOD DYE!!!
A: Well I exist because when a mommy and a daddy love each other very much....
Like I said, let's all have some fun here.

I had a quick glance at your reviews and they look pretty good. So feel free to review any submission from the list that SCTE3 posted a few days ago.
One minor tip, though: You should add some paragraphs to your reviews every now and then. That way, it is much easier to read.
Cool. Are we allowed to post reviews in things other members have already reviewed?
I would like to join you. May I?
