Okay, so first things first, after looking through the T.V times at my parents house over the weekend I found a lack of interesting programmes. . . Nothing new there. But, having taken a long hard look at all the channels listings, I found (to my annoyance) that many channels still go for "Reality" T.V Gameshows/celebrity style things, that I couldn't get my head a round it.
Why do we have an obsession with these types of programmes? Surely when one pushes the boat out and all the other follow suit it gets a little tiresome, or am I the only one that finds this at all boring and plainly crap?
Look at the list of things that have been on in recnet years and have actually had almost every country make a version of their own, Big Brother being one of them. Which is the most pointless of them all. they even have live shows which the main focus of it is, watching them sleep, yes the British public have become so low in their need for entertainment they are willing to possibly watch this, and I know people who have.
The problem with these shows is nothing actually becomes of MOST of the people who go on to do well, or even win. Jade Goody didn't even win and she probably went on to become more famous than the eventual winner of that years Big Brother. Other past winner's have seen them just go into almost immediate decline.
And celebrity versions of the format are going down hill too, "I'm a celebrity.... Get me out of here" when it first started had some amazing talents going on it. Now, is it just a way to kick start the celebrities carrer?
I'm getting a bit tired of all these types of shows which actually don't have much relevence to the real world at all, how can things like "shipwrecked" on Channel4 and of course "Big Brother" have the title of 'reality' plonked upon them?
Is it time to stop all this nonsense and think of a new form of entertainment?
