Posted: 11/07/09 12:25 PM

Swine flu is something to be concerned about but not worried about. What gets me is the hand sanitizers that it seems everyone has started using. Even worse is the masks. Understandable if you have already contracted the virus, but people. Exercise your immune system!

This is my schedule.. Between classes and work.

Monday 9am - 1pm
Tuesday 9:30am - 9:15pm
Wednesday 9am - 5pm
Thursday 9:30am - 5pm
Friday 8am - 5pm

Weekends are generally free, however I have an online Bio course, tons of animation homework, plus all my obligations as an RA. When I work a weekend shift I'm on call for 24 hours T_T. My schedule is insane! I have been gradually reajusting my sleep cycle and becoming more and more active on NG again.

In other news: I bought an NG poster today!

I died a little inside after watching that video. Acting on what you believe in is great, but acting without thinking or not even having a clue about what, what you believe in is, well not so much. I'm not sure which I find more irritating, the horrible comparisons, or the fact that so many people are willing to buy into them.

Speaking of school, I'm using the time I have during my art history class to post on NG again. School has been taking up most of my life lately. On Tuesdays I have 9 hours of class, but art history is pretty much useless.. sooo I decided to do something productive! I just read over a large number of posts that I missed; it's pretty cool to see the return of Eagle Rock. Sucks to hear about further hackings, but life goes on. I have been depositing lately, but it's time to start b/p voting again, so you guys should be seeing a bit more of me ;)

Topic: Animals equal to Humans?

Posted: 08/14/09 01:58 PM

Forum: Politics

Other animals should not be treated like humans because they are not. They should, however, be treated with a lot more respect then they are. They are still living breathing creatures, and while they may not have conscious thought they do feel pain and pleasure, as well as interact with their surrounding environment. They are a lot more intelligent then people would like to think. Humans have developed a sort of arrogance because we can "think ahead." We may be more powerful in that aspect, but we come up short in many other areas.
In reference to Pox's first statement, providing for a dog is much different than providing for a person. Sure the money spent on the dog could be used to feed other people, but there is an emotional bond with the dog, not with random people. Also the dog does not merit the same funding as a person that would share residence.

Public transportation isn't fine in a lot of places. In fact most of the public transportation I have seen has tons of financial issues, which cause the fares to go up. With better public transportation more people would use it, cutting down on traffic.

So long as army A has their tech they will win. Army B may be the best trained but they don't stand a chance against high powered weaponry. Especially if someone wants to bring out the nukes.

It's always been like this, though, but you'd think that because I've lived here my entire life that I'd have become accustomed to it by now.

Same. I'm only an hour and a half north from this guy. There was a small monsoon yesterday, and clearly that wasn't enough to kill my bike which was locked up outside so it rained again this morning. The humidity is dreadful.

Topic: Prostitution

Posted: 07/30/09 01:03 AM

Clients might not want to use condoms, and I am sure that all staff would be on some form of birth control, most likely the pill. If worse comes to worse, there is always the option of an abortion. The staff there would be well aware of the risk, and if they are not willing to have an abortion they should be ready to have a random mans baby or they really shouldn't be in that line of work. I'm sure most prostitutes wouldn't have any moral issues with abortion. The church would probably, in fact would, be against prostitution. This is considering the whole sex before marriage thing. Also from a business perspective, condoms cost money. I mean damn, they are not cheap either. It's like paying a two dollar toll every time you want to have sex. Of course they would be good in practice, so maybe charge more for clients who want to go "gladiator."

Also, rape isn't always precalculated and occurs when a person can't withold his lust on the spot.

I would imagine one would have to pay for the services beforehand. If people go beyond what they pay for, issue bans. I imagine there may be contracts too, so it would remain a legal issue regardless if it was counted as rape.

I have A.D.D. and I did my research paper last semester on A.D.D. because I wanted to know more about it. At the age of 5 someone really shouldn't be being diagnosed with A.D.H.D, there have to be at least 6 factors present for a diagnosis, but a lot of these are things children do normally. The problem here is overdiagnosis. Doctors go crazy with it, of course there is underdiagnosis too, but I feel overdiagnosis is a lot worse. Children will be children, parents just need to be parents. Medication isn't the way out.

I'm not an expert on sexually transmitted infections, but I'm going to have to say no. I base this on the fact that herpes can be transmitted via oral sex by a sore in the mouth. Also I don't think people would move to an island just for the sake of clean sex. Interesting idea though.
