In one of my wiser moments have taken a aol cd and fit it to a pneumatic die grider and got it spinning probably 10,000 to 30,000 rpm. Then poped it off and let it hit the cement floor.

Now if you have it spinning fast enought the centrifugal force will cause it to explode upon hitting the ground. It is really cool, but make sure to wear proper saftey gear (it is not exactly safe) and once it explodes you can see tiny little flakes of it floating in the air.
