Graphic filters are overrated in my opinion. Sure they add a little spice to the graphics, but not really enough to say "ooh this has bloom so it must have nice graphics." To some games it just adds an annoying filter effect, like the bloom effect in the upcoming Urban Terror update. That coupled with blur effects, it just makes the game one big blur show. Sometimes the effect is nice and pretty in some places, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Bloom is one of those. Developers should at least look at the graphics and see where blooming is necessary or easy on the eye instead of catering to the "moar bloom==better graphics" bandwagon these HD gamers are vying for.

It's $60 a year. A price of a new release per year. It's not that expensive (yes, I know PSN is free, but Live isn't a house bill like people say it is). You can get it for one year, and if you don't like it, well, you don't have to pay again. If you catch it, Microsoft offers some deals online to get Xbox Live for cheap (I once got a month for $1.00 USD for example).

Seeing how you have never signed up for Live, however, you can get a free month of Gold service. Try it out, if you like it go for it. Otherwise, well there's something you don't need to pay every year.

Same. Got mine the year it came out (2001). 'Cept I wanted Luigi's Mansion, but I got Super Smash Bros. Melee (no complaints, I wanted that game second instead). Melee was fun, and I think I got Luigi's Mansion a day later with my Christmas money. Sad pisser is that my SSBM disc is kinda scratched, and just stops working on certain characters and stages. Just now started playing Luigi's Mansion again, that and Metroid Prime (stupid Chozo ghosts aksdhfasdgahsd).
