I hear and understand completely. I've been too busy anymore to truly go crazy with making music and it seems that when I get inspired and spend a bit of time on something, it gets the zero love and falls deep into the oblivion of NG Crap.

So yeah; I know what it's like.

really? Just scroll down to the bottom of the thread list and click the link that says "Post your FL Studio Questions here."

There are specific threads for a reason.

In before the NG Correctional Police arrive.

The thread title is actually "Ask your FruityLoops questions here."

Good luck.

Just like any fighting game; nobody is cheap or noobish. If you're good enough, you'll know how to react in certain situations.

I can't stand it when people complain about someone spamming certain moves. If you didn't suck in the first place it wouldn't bother you because you'd know how to take advantage of the situation.

There are some threads here that have tutorials to programs like FL Studio or Reason. Your best bet is to go to FL Studio's website, download the demo, and see what you think.

Well, I've got two setup systems depending on my mood I suppose.

System 1:

PC
FL Studio
Audacity
Soundblaster LIve Platinum 2 ZX
Yahama DJ-X (Midi is all that matters to me with this piece)
Schecter Diamond Series Omen 6 Guitar
Dean Acoustic Electric Guitar.

System 2:

Laptop
FL Studio

That's about it.

Topic: Is my music worth being listened to

Posted: 07/06/08 06:13 PM

Forum: Audio

Actually, ambient music can do really well. Infact, the 3rd song I wrote with a buddy under our KTRecords account was an ambient song titled "Lost in Ambience" and it has now over 4,000 downloads. Mind you, KTRecords and myself have pushed out quite a few songs and have gained a bit of a name for ourselves, but like the others have said, you need to become more known.

Participate in the forums a lot, offer to write music for flash games, and you'll start to gain some fans and some popularity, IF, that is, you want it.

We all have to work for our spot to be know. Just keep trying and you'll achieve that, Chief.

So any suggestions, you sound-guru's?

Personally, I've always been happy with my trusty Sound Blaster Live ZX 2 Platinum.

It's been a great card for everything I've needed to do. They're not overly expensive anymore either. There are other options, yes, but trust me, this card is brilliant for the now cheap price of $60 on ebay. (Not just a card either, comes with a deck as well).

Awesome finds guys. I'll definitely make good use of these.

It's tough to find good free VST's, so the more of em that people know about and share, the better chance we have of finding em. Believe me, I've done my fair share of searching and 19 times out of 20 I end up with pure junk.

Regardless, thanks for the finds.

Me and F-777 are good friends and i've heard at least 5 'Underground' artists on here that in my opinion have created quite a few songs that are better quality than most of his stuff. F was lucky enough though to get his music featured on a popular flash game i believe, and now you see him either in the top 5 of the week or top 30.

I've come to learn that you can't really take this site seriously for its audio factors. If you want to get your music out to the massess, then do what i have done and sent demos of to record labels and see what they say. I must have had 3 songs on Ng that got in the region of 3:00 - 3:45 scorewise that the record label i sent the track off to turned out they thought the track had 'Huge potential!'

All you can do from now on is keep on submitting and hope that the zero bombers have mercy on your soul.

For the most part I agree. I suppose it also depends on good you are, how bad you want to be heard, and that extra step you take to get your tunes around. I was pissed at first when I started here, but eventually I became a bit more known. I've been lucky enough to see the top 30 or top 5 pretty often when I submit new compositions.

It's been said before many times, but push your name through the forums and elsewhere on the interweb. Offering to write tunes for flash artists can help in a big way as well, methinks.

I think what saddens me the most is when someone posts a midi to mp3 and gets rave reviews. Like, not an edited or made from scratch midi, oh no no, but a straight up Final Fantasy 7 battle theme original midi... grr...

I'm suprised there isn't any mention of a lot of games worth more than half of these.

I, for one, scored a complete copy of 'Stadium Mud Buggies' for the intellivision for $1, turned around, sold it on ebay for $600.

I've got a feeling that what people (scouts) are doing is opening a text file, and copy/paste'ing reviews that they've already done in the past. It makes sense. half the reviews don't even match the song.

Egh, now I don't consider myself the worlds greatest musician, but, a lot of the stuff on this Slicethepie.com is complete rubbish. I mean, wow. Some of them make 60 seconds feel like a court sentence.

Plus, it gets my name out there even further. So, thanks for sharing man, see ya there.

Topic: Which Is Better: Logic Or Fl Studio

Forum: Audio

At 6/5/08 01:45 AM, alextheDJ wrote: Hey guys! Just want to get your opinion. Which do YOU think is better : Logic or FL Studio?

I've been personally using Fruity Loops for an ungodly amount of years, so I'm clearly biased, however, just try them both out and prepare for confusion.

Programs like FL are intimidating if you've never used them before. I suggest getting Fruity Loops, grab some popcorn, and search for Fruity Loops Tutorials all over Youtube.
