Okay. I mean I can't control whether my ad is pornographic though ._.

Response to: Can't seem to enable ads ._. Posted June 9th, 2012 in Game Development

Alright, my last question is: Do I have to make my movie viewable by anyone in particular to make sure it gets reviewed?

Response to: Can't seem to enable ads ._. Posted June 8th, 2012 in Game Development

Can I submit my movie to the portal before getting approval?

But when I test the movie, and it says it's connected, now it won't play. I click play and then get a black screen.
This might not be the same problem I had, but when I made my last games, it seemed to pause the file after pressing play. I "fixed" it by putting a "play();" command on frame 2.

Okay THAT worked, but in the output notes, it still says "ad destroyed". What does that mean? Is it because it's still pending or something?

I'm setting up this whole API ad thing for my newest movie, and I'm following the instructions exactly.

But for some reason, I'm getting this error every time...

[Newgrounds API] :: ====== Newgrounds API v3.1.2 AS3 ======
Error opening URL 'http://www.ngads.com/gateway_v2.php'
[Newgrounds API] :: Error when sending command:
[Newgrounds API] :: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: http://www.ngads.com/gateway_v2.php"]
Error opening URL 'http://apifiles.ngfiles.com/crossdomain.xml'
[Newgrounds API] :: Unable to connect to the API.

What exactly does this mean? How can I fix it?

I'm sure this has been answered already, but is there a sign up process or do we just submit our videos to newgrounds when we're done? ._.

Can't wait c:
Do we have to register or something?

Wish i could fix the spelling error in my title... :c

I just got daily first and I'm absolutely overjoyed .

Then i realized that I forgot the "s" in the word "descent" in my title.... and I can't change it.

I'm really embarassed because my video's on the front page, I put a lot of work into it, and it makes me look careless.

I can't seem to find a way to change the title though D:
Am I missing something?

Help with a "scene skip" button? Posted January 21st, 2012 in Game Development

My friend and I are about ready to submit a big collab we've been working on.
The only thing I'd like to add is a button that would allow you to skip the current scene.
We have each clip in it's own scene, so it'd be really helpful if we could just have a button in the bottom right or something that when pressed, moves onto the next clip.

Is that possible? We're using actionscript 2.

Thanks c:

No the .fla is still the same size... :\
How would I go about decompiling my swf?

Oh god, what happened? Posted October 30th, 2011 in Game Development

I've been working on my halloween submission forever, and then all of a sudden the power goes out, which is fine because I'd just saved.

When I started my computer back up, I was unable to load my halloween project because it's an "unexpected file format"... any ideas?
It's just that file that isn't opening... everything else is working fine...

I'm freaking out because I've worked so hard on this, and now all of a sudden it just isn't opening...

Is all hope lost? :c

I suppose, but Steam is the preferable audio setting, as the others have given many people problems

Are u sure the audio is set to stream? cos it looks to me like it's not preloading it at all. might need an asset holder.

I'm positive it's set to stream.
It's when its NOT set to stream that it works properly...

Does this occur only when you press enter while working in Flash, or even if you export into swf?

Even when I export. Here's an example I made.

See how it kinda freezes before the foot hits the ground? It's supposed to be fluid, but it looks choppy because of that pause.

A problem with audio... Posted October 9th, 2011 in Game Development

Okay quick question.
I've been using flash for a while now, and I just started experiencing this recently.

On my timeline, whenever audio starts, my movie seems to pause for a milisecond.
It can really get in the way considering sound usually occurs when theres motion involved...

I don't really know what to do about it. I'm using CS4, Action script 2.0, and My audio is set to stream.

An odd note though, is that when I set the audio to event, or start, the pause isn't there anymore...

any ideas whats going on?

Just made that in a few days for my girlfriend. It's not really anything special.
When I watched it, I chuckled at the dinosaur part though, so I was wondering if you think it's worth uploading to the flash portal ._.

Seriously, I won't be offended if you say no.

I love your sig... a lot.

But yeah, is that all you have to do? Is there any specific way you suggest doing that?

How do people pull this off? Posted July 13th, 2011 in Animation

I've always wondered this.
How do people get their outlines to wiggle? My initial expectation is that they simply turn on onion skinning, and redraw their image... but after trying that several times myself, I just can't seem to get it to work right.
My movements are always too large...

Derpcraft is an example of what I'm talking about:

  • Derpcraft
    Derpcraft by RubberNinja

    Type
    Movie
    Rated
    Ages 13+

See how the outlines move VERY SLIGHTLY?
How is that achieved? thanks!

Response to: Project CoreBot - looking for team Posted June 17th, 2011 in Collaboration

I'm really interested in this. Pokemon's my favorite game series, and I'd love to work on something similar.
I'm an artist, and I'm ALWAYS coming up with my own creatures and stuff.

It'd be really cool to design like, a hundred or so robots.

Instead of Evolution, maybe we could do some sort of upgrading system where you take a weaker bot, and then once it reaches a certain level, you can have it upgraded.

I'm seriously interested. I could draw robots based off of real life creatures, scary robots, cute robots, robots of different elemental types, "legendary" robots.

This could be amazing. I'm definitely in.

Okay now I'm wondering... Posted June 16th, 2011 in Art

I am completely aware that it's against the rules to ask to be scouted, so I'm not going to do that.
But I was wondering two things.

1) How long does it usually take to get scouted?
2) Have I done anything wrong in the submission process that is preventing me from being scouted?

I've had 4 finished pieces submitted since December. 7 months is a long time to wait to get scouted...

Regarding your advice, I don't ALWAYS think that's the case. I think that it works on occasion, but often times, putting things off center is better.
Maybe it would have worked better in the middle in this drawing though...

It's clearer on my dA and Newgrounds profiles though .-.
