this is a pretty decent tut on how to draw fur using PS, though i dont like the use of the smudge tool, it is used very well here.
as for pencils, this will be very helpful to look at. its done entirealy in colored pencils, so you might learn a thing or two :)

yes, dont get depressed because people say it sucks. ignore comments that arent constuctive, but take the constructive ones and learn from them.

Because if you finish it in your own style you can only get better and other people cant really tell you how to be a good artist, they can gives tips and things but it wont excell you :)

w-what!?!? if you have your own style, of course people can tell you how to get better. you can have your "own style" and still absolutely suck at drawing. however, this doesnt really seem to be the case, since it is just a sketch/lineart and there isnt too much to critique on... yet.

going with my felllow NGers, ill have to say the same
although i see where you tried to make it lion-ish, it needs to be more detailed, seeing as a horse also has a tail, a mane, and sometimes long shaggy fur/hair
personally, i think it would look cooler if you defined all of the hooves and maybe made the front or back pair of legs lion paws :)
